  1. love it, looks great
  2. NVR (Northampton Vehicle Repairs) in Earls Barton. http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/northampton/business-guide/feature/northampton-vehicle-repairers my brother works with mobile dent repairers Diamond Dents, and he usually goes over there to give cars the once over, and recommended them to me. I was not disappointed :) if you phone them, ask for Johnno, and say "Ed the dents" brother put you onto them ;) they might sort you out with a better rate ;)
  3. paul  lol, thanks anyway!
  4. finally the old girls got a clean bill of health. £420 to have all the brake pipes replaced front to back & top to bottom with copper, and thrown stainless steel braided lines on to replace the rubber flexis. Slowly getting shot of all the rusty bits, after £300 last month to have the lower rear quarter sill chopped out, welded, rear arch bubble removed, and panel resprayed, and i've got to say, its the best colour match I have ever seen on a silver car... you wouldnt know it had been done, which if anyone out there has a silver motor, you know is damn near impossible! :punk:
  5. sure they werent tein coil springs? not coilovers?
  6. rolandas - you'll need to use much higher grade sand paper than that to get a good finish. 1500 wet&dry or higher I would have said... someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i wouldnt dream of using low grit on my metal surfaces
  7. i was thinking wooden shed (i mean.... workshop) extension to the front/back of the garage depending what room you have available.
  8. superb. love classic look with modern touches. great job! /want
  9. does make me wonder about how long i'll keep the old girl for...with the ever increasing parts prices. only saving grace is, with using the car sparingly, those bills come around less often. last 2 months i've chopped the rot, welding done, spraying done (£300), mot (£50)- failed on brake pipe corrosion, another £400 getting that fixed and upgraded to copper. no other advisories though, so maybe thats my lot for the year?! trying to keep the car fairly standard looking, as its the stock ones that will be worth a mint going forward. i havent messed with the cosmetics!
  10. want that rear hatch.. changes the back of the car completely. rear valance/diffuser is pretty nice too..
  11. the quotes between prices... 6-8 hours labour, but its between 350 and 400... depends what they have to remove at the rear of the car to get decent access etc.
  12. right, shes booked in for full replacement of the lines next week. I've ordered some stainless braided lines to replace the rubber flexis too while i'm at it. dent in the wallet, last one for a while i hope though! Audrey, you are getting expensive!
  13. they are money pools, but u'll be a miserable **** without one :D i thought i could cope without my bhp fix last year when i sold the rx7.... ...i couldnt. i went 4 months before the mrs insisted i go and buy a car because i was being a grumpy ****.
  14. havent had any better quotes to be fair, so think i'll give them a buzz tomorrow and just go ahead. I've used them for years so I trust their workmanship etc... its a just a smack to the wallet seemings i spent £300 on welding last month thinking that was all she would really need doing.. pleased with the condition of everything else under there though, not bad for a 110k mile motor thats now 20 years young,
  15. i'll end up buying a new car at this rate lol! all i can see are labour costs right now. what a slut!
  16. i'm on the case ringing around now. tough for people to quote without having a look with these motors though! I've just ordered braided flexis while i'm at it. :)
  17. i've been quoted over £400 including VAT/labour/parts/sundries, purely because of the labour time.
  18. anyone know someone who would want to replace all the brake pipes on the zed with copper? Shes just failed her MOT on corroded pipes, and they all look properly shafted, but obviously the labour cost is pretty chunky! Anyone fancy some cash in hand or know someone who can/recommend garage?? (wellingborough, northants area)
  19. expensive with the labour though :(
  20. well, good and bad news! 1. The cars pretty solid, suspension all good, tyres good, etc etc... BUT.. 2. Needs new brake pipes all the way through..
  21. fingers crossed people!
  22. that is a shocker! whatever it was you were trying to do to the car under these conditions - isnt worth it.
  23. imo matt black only suits drift culture. any well maintained car needs a shine ;)
  24. thats what i was wondering about really. i bet the door card farts like mad. I do quite like seeing the speaker though. i may have to get a bit DIY (again lol) and make an oval mount for the reverse side of the door card that I can go straight through into the door with to keep things solid.
  25. seen a few 300's with 6x9" speakers in the front door cords. much cutting involved? and i'm guessing u have to make a mount as they are diff size to stock. pics welcome :)
