  1. love the look of it - that shark nose is awesome, but to generate the sales it wont be a 400+ bhp monster.. it wont even be 300. mazda had the same come down a few years back when the rx7 was followed by the rx8. went from twin turbos, to no turbos. lost over 70bhp and put on weight - but you can bet your bottom dollar that the rx8 was more successful than the rx7 because more people can afford to buy one. 300zx's and rx7's were best part of £35-40k in 1990/1992 - whats the equivalent to that now? I would love it to be a 450bhp fire breathing porsche sh!tting monster but good old economics will screw that one over. nissan have the GTR flagship, they wont bother with another one like they did in the good old 80's and 90's! that thing is beautiful though.. and sometimes.. it can be how a car makes you feel, not what its 0-60 is.
  2. go mark! go mark! save her!!
  3. more importantly than how this looks, its going to snort with that V8 in there! what power are you aiming for? these were circa 300bhp stock werent they? any naughty turbos going in with this, or wanting that pure n/a sound? i dream of lamping a V8 in mine, but the pennies are going on the sills/restoration this year. Great thread, good to see something different
  4. Great news! It's easy to think catastrophe but it's usually something minor!
  5. i think when I was 25 I had a classic policy with Sureterm for my RX7.. was more like £280. So if you have no luck with lancaster try them! hope this helps.
  6. hope you save her mate. way too many zeds get broken. i know it feels good to vulture for parts when one genuinely is nackered, but sounds to me like theres some investigating to do here before we head down the doom and gloom route! i thought i'd blown rotor tips on my RX7 once, car was running like a tractor, billowing black smoke at all revs. turns out a vac hose had popped off the MAP sensor and was just resting on the nipple. Pushed it back on, everything returned to normal instantly. have faith!
  7. I insure my zed as a second car, classic policy, with lancaster insurance. it mirrors any no claims bonus you have gained. all mods declared I pay £220 per year for it. Then i've got a 130bhp diesel grande punto for work that ticks over on average 51mpg and only costs £380 to insure.
  8. great news! another zed back on the streets
  9. great news! another zed back on the streets
  10. Its nice but the steering wheels on the wrong side :P
  11. i think a road rally sounds great, and bbq. get sick of going to meets and standing around looking at cars when we should be driving them ;) its all about the convoys for me!
  12. lol guys! and yes to being out in the sun too long.. albeit not on the zed today. Flipping neighbours dae**** matiz exhaust was rotten, ha to angle grin the bugar off and fabricate a sleeve. then i told them to try buying a car next time. :D - - - Updated - - - had to angle grind*
  13. think my pc must have had a moment then. I went through the list earlier an all the cars for sale, items for sale section was missing, but I could see everything else :P
  14. as per title.. have the rules changed?
  15. gotta agree. I miss the challenges where stuff genuinely went wrong, rather than them staging everything. taxi's - rubbish, bbc centre thing - rubbish, and had nothing to do with anything!?! bring back the days of pure smoking supercars, super saloons, super hatches, and the odd quality challenge. North Pole was the best challenge, and also the US/Bolivia specials too. Its losing touch with us petrol heads and turning into nothing but a dodgy staged comedy :( and I love Top Gear... even got to go to the show once when they made limo's for the music awards.
  16. think i have this issue.. got oil around the top of the pulley/belt cover. what are the consequences of this leak? and how urgently will it need dealing with? I have a spattering of oil on my garage floor, but its taken 18 months to really look like much.
  17. good luck for the future jeff. Hope the new owners can reach the level of positive feedback you have. i was looking to get my zed in the next 3 months too before MOT time. typical lol. i give up!
  18. thanks eggs. an easy one then! :P :P Its been bugging me since I got the car 18 months ago, it hardly drops any, and everytime i check the oil, theres plenty, the oil pressure is fine, but everytime i go under my car to do some work, everything is covered with film and crap! I'm pretty sure she only drops oil when shes hot too.
  19. If you dont mind me asking, how much are you paying for the sill/corrosion work? Hoping to get mine in at zedworld later this year for some TLC an de-rusting. Sent them some pictures, havent heard anything back yet though =/
  20. sometimes the hardpipes going into the cooler corrode causing them to leak. I had to repair one once. so annoying! I've got an oil leak on mine.. crank seal I think. Anyone fancy shedding any light on whats involved in replacing the crank seal?
