  1. good to hear! congrats :)
  2. ignore my last post, there are wastegate actuators on both sides, just the screamer pipe setup on the passenger side is a touch more intricate!
  3. my only concern there being, i only see one on the drivers side. shouldnt there be twin actuators, and 2 screamer pipes. one for each side.
  4. hey mark, i think there is already a gated screamer pipe in the setup above no? correct me if i'm wrong, but i think i see it poking out behind the elbow, with a large wastegate actuator thingy in front of it
  5. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-300ZX-Z32-TURBO-NON-TURBO-STAINLESS-STEEL-DE-CAT-DECAT-DOWNPIPE-EXHAUST-/230713275628?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3A300+ZX&hash=item35b79534ec these will be 2.5" and look like they'll fit. if you want 3" then it sounds like a custom fabricating job to me unless someone can put me straight?
  6. these are japspeed 300zx decat pipes these are standard turbo elbows the end of the elbow with an 02 sensor sticking out of it joins the turbo the studded end joins the decat triangular flange. the greddy turbos you have, must have an equivalent of this rusty looking elbow. thats what your downpipes will connect to. the other japspeed divorced downpipes, come straight off the turbo and look like this: these do come straight off the turbo, as they include new elbows. These will not fit your greddy turbos, so you need to find out what elbows are on your greddy turbos, so that you can have some downpipes/decat pipes made to fit. I think it would be quite easy for someone to fabricate if you cant find a ready built one, and wouldnt cost as much as you think.
  7. the flange is the shape on the end of the greddy turbo you are trying to join to. You will need a triangular 3 stud gasket to go between the elbow, and whatever decat/downpipe you use, much like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Bolt-Pin-Triangle-Exhaust-Gasket-Flange-2-5-63mm-/230635484728?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35b2f23638 if you find the right size gasket for your greddy elbow, then this very kind chap is going to make a flange you can have welded to whatever downpipe/section that you pick. it would probably be easier to get this made, or modify some japspeed decat sections/downpipes to take the custom made flange as made by the fellow above ;) Any decent welder should be able to help.
  8. i've got a similar noise developing on mine.. used to be under load only, but I sometimes hear it on idle. i swear its coming from around the air con pump/pulley, but i'm not 100% without stripping her down. has anyone else had anything like this?
  9. tein HR coilovers fitted all round. however, the centre bolt in front top mount doesnt sit central on either side.. is this a camber issue? they're both pointing inwards towards the engine on both sides... bit like the top mounts are cross eyed.. I havent fiddled with the height yet.. is this a camber issue? wheels look bolt upright mind and shes probably only gone down 15mm so far.
  10. I had to go a bit more hardcore, and started with: 1500 grade wet and dry 2500 grade wet and dry Autosol metal polish 3M fast cut compound You have to keep going up the grades getting finer and finer else you'll end up with a swirly mess! Took around 40 minutes per box to get them to this finish.
  11. lol would he not have noticed on the log book and the insurance?! fail sale.
  12. so far on the zed this year its been -new grooved discs and brembo pads. -235/35/19 falken tyres for the front -Tein HR coilovers all round -HKS ALC for the auto-ecu (great mod by the way, love it) -new front crystals as i've managed to melt my other ones (whoops!) -SFS Heater matrix hoses then in sept time, depending on the feedback I get from Jeff/Lynda, she should be off to zedworld to have all the rusty bits chopped out and new ones fabricated. dont get me wrong, shes no rusty hulk, but some bits underneath and around the front turrets are letting her down!
  13. bird - i would expect so, providing the elbows on the greddy turbo finish in the same place as the stock ones. mistyblue - thought as much! I had enough fun with the 3 bolt decats on the standard elbows. lost 2 bolts on each side, 4 in total. ended up making a 15mm thick jig/template to drill them out with and to keep the drill straight.. plus some dodgy levering mechanism on the ground to keep enough pressure on the drill so I didnt blunt the HSS bits.
  14. i resurrected will300zxtt's japspeed boxes the other day while wehad the back up messing with his brakes/suspension: from this: to this: p.s. the subs are wills.. hes such a boy racer :P ha! :D
  15. thats brilliant. good to see some helpful, genuine people still out there. refreshing to see some zeds being salvaged rather than broken.
  16. Just as a heads up, i bet the divorced downpipes are a pig to fit arent they? as you need to get the elbows off the turbos, so either way, you stand a good chance of sheering some bolts/studs during the process. has anyone here fitted divorced pipes themselves with the turbos/engine still in the car? and how did you get to the bolts on the elbow?
  17. if you can find some history out about it, it'll be worth more than 3.5k. 40000km is what... 28k miles ish without breaking a calculator out. £2k fetches an ok twin turbo these days with triple that mileage. if its a rot free example, unmolested, and got the belts etc changed it should easily fetch 4.5k i would have thought. dont undervalue these cars! theres fewer and fewer around now, and they've gone up in value since i bout mine 18 months ago.
  18. wouldnt dream of running anything bar 99ron tesco momentum or shell v-power due to the higher octane ratings of japanese fuel. to put it another way, i know people who have had trouble on 95/97... i know no people who have had trouble with 99ron running an import.
  19. now thats what i call an uprated washer jet. i'll take a pair please! :D
  20. bang tidy! get some pics up from the show too ;)
  21. look like genuine 99 spec rear lights too. Looks like a damn good base. Make sure you get your head underneath it though.. thats where the zeds always fall down!
  22. Looking good fella. Love a bit of exhaust restoration myself. Hard work pays off!
  23. Bigger brakes, and a nice down change with engine breaking for the auto box
  24. Yes!!! Simply... Yes!
  25. looking great fella. fantastic build. love the whole thread :)
