  1. Oh snap, never thought about the power requirements lol!
  2. There are other options, but having a powerful unit generally means better results, than hitting the higher end of your machine, which can often cause it to overheat. http://www.speedyservices.com/quicksearch?keyword=mig+welder&productType=1 It's only to hire, so it's not to purchase the thing outright. The closest Speedy Hire I know of is on the Felling Bypass, but places like Lord Hire might be worth looking at as well.
  3. http://www.speedyservices.com/product/20188/mig-welder-300a/productoverview Doesn't look like it comes with any gas though. Sureshield is good for steel.
  4. The Nissan dealership I used to work for charged half an hours labour to do.
  5. £240 on classic, 25 years old, 3000 miles, 4 years driving experience and garaged overnight. Some classic policies will do a car that is 15 years old too :p
  6. Oh I love you  Thanks a lot!
  7. When I saw the blue smoke, I immediatly pulled it onto the MOT ramp and noticed a leak on the o/s underneath the turbo, n/s was dry and the smoke was coming out of the o/s exhaust only. He had a look around, and said that he could get to it, bearing in mind he has about 35-40 years experience, and does a lot of awkward jobs where he can't see anything lol. I did ask him wouldn't it be easier to drop the engine out, and he was sure he can get it with the rack and suspension out of the way :S And yeah, previous car was a 106, but first car was an Almera GTi, and have been around performance cars a lot. I'm not a fan of playing with the boost too much either, especially with manual controllers. My ex done that with his old Skyline GTS-T and blown the turbo after running just under 1 bar. He then bought a GT-R, and guess what, that blown too lol. He also blown the intercooler on his Z32 "Veilside demo which isn't really the demo just a copy" and his other Z32 survived somehow :D
  8. Thanks for that. I was already aware of what is needed in a job like this, but the turbo went earlier than expected, so left me in a position where I have no parts available at this moment. So the plan was now to get new upgraded turbo's fitted and turn down the boost while I get the FMIC and remap, and drive like an angel lol. I've never done any major mechanical work like that, and I will probably leave it for the lads in the garage to do, but they don't want to drop the steering rack and suspension and tie a ramp up.
  9. I'm sorry but 10 hours? Post #3 = 11th November 2011, 20:14 Post #4 = 14th November 2011, 08:42 It's 2 and a half days ;) I need to get it sorted asap as the car is at my works garage, and the longer it's kept here, the more they moan :(
  10. Anyone able to help me with this? If a larger turbo is a direct fitment or needs some modification at all? Thanks
  11. You should have asked him if you could pay to do a pre-mot, or even a normal mot at your expense before you bought it. Luckily I worked in an MOT station and got mine looked over for nothing, and it just needed a little bit of welding to pass with no advisories :) I got the car for a bargain although I knew the turbo was on it's way out though.
  12. Opps, just double checked, and it's bank 1. Regardless I'd just get them reconditioned anyway. I was trying to find some uprated turbo's do sort out in the new year, but it's went a little earlier than anticipated :(
  13. Well, bank 2 turbo decided to eat some oil, and I'm in the hunt for a replacement or recondition. I'm wondering that if I were to get some T25's or T28's would they fit directly, or is there some modification needed? If it's an oil line or something similar, it's not too much of a problem, but if a new section of exhaust is required, I can't really do that right now :( If anyone can get back to me, it would be appreciated, thanks!
  14. You should try places like Euro Car Parts etc. At trade prices we get drop links for about £8+VAT
  15. Depending on funds at the time, I might be able to join. It would be nice to have a good old fashioned convoy down together.
  16. Are they the ones from ebay? If so what do you think about the quality of them? I'm tempted to get a set, but really want to hear what people think about them.
  17. The Z! I might have to get my 106 taxed for the winter though :(
  18. Forgot to mention, I ordered mine (silver one) at the start of November, and estimated delivery is late November.
  19. About £12+VAT from Nissan. They don't do the '99 spec anymore though :( 93094-40P01 93094-30P01
  20. I'd estimate about 4 hours work on that. At a typical non franchised garage, probably around £40 per hour plus VAT.
  21. Refusal certificates list the failures on the left hand side, pass certificates don't :) Special mouse? Atos (formerly Seimens) are in charge of all the computer systems, and it's a computer from the mid 90's! It was only brought in, in 2005. Horrible things to use lol.
  22. I have a '91 Twin Turbo Automatic, and when I go above 3k RPM, I get a grinding noise for a short time, and a huge power loss. It does eventually pick up, but I get a constant whistling noise, but not all the time. Sometimes when I do put my foot down, it just drops into the right gear and it shoots off like a rocket, but 90% of the time it will delay massively. A few different people said it is a gearbox issue, but someone who has had more experience with turbo performance cars says it's a turbo. The previous owner said it was like that for over a year, and it is still going strong, so I'm not 100% sure it is the turbo. I'll try to make a vid of it if the weather improves at all, as I don't like putting my foot down in the wet.
  23. Those aren't 200sx seats though? ;) Just so you know, Footman James recently said they will cover all Z32's on a classic insurance policy, so maybe give them a ring. My policy for a TT was £240, some have gotten it cheaper than that.
  24. Probably some privacy law prevents that :D
  25. It does have to be on 80gsm minimum paper though :D I hate handing them over to the customer though, they keep asking wheres the certificate lol. It is nice that the advisories can't be ripped off though, salesmen across the country will be very saddened.
