Yeah couldn't work it out from the pics but had a skip through the manual and it looks like the passenger side screamer pipe is facing backwards and points down between the gearbox and exhaust just under the bulkhead. Tidy result on the rolling road today, was that what you were expecting? Your car sounds like a fcuking animal, I love it! Does it drive you bonkers on a long drive lol? Sorry if I missed it but what's your exhaust setup from the tubs back? Actually what's the full spec on everything?

Safest psi on stock internals
Cheers guys Just out of interest is there any better degree of accuracy running them closer to the turbo? Would you say AFR monitoring has replaced EGT monitoring or is there still a use for it? I've never fully understood the point of EGT.

It does look impressive but the turbos that were used on it have been modified and clocked to fit with aftermarket piping. Im putting stock tubs back on for now as I can't be arsed clocking and welding the wastegate shut etc. In the future I may get them tested on a flow bench to see how they compare to others and use them again. Thats what I was wondering, hence asking for a pic of the other side. Looked like a single wastegate External wastegates are supposed to be able to hold higher boost better so you shouldn't get problems with boost creep like you can get with internals. As already said it's supposed to be better for getting the exhaust gases out quicker causing less turbulence in the exhaust system. Easier to service of you get problems as well

What's the optimum position to fit a wideband sensor? Is it a case of the closer to the turbo outlet the better?

Have you got a good pic of the passenger side setup?

Do it, meet up on your lunch break and go for a blast, don't keep us waiting! :tongue_smilie:

Nope it's a tubular manifold. The only piping you could consider 'extra' is the runner across the back that was probably done to save the cost of a second wastegate. Im not running a single turbo, just a single wastegate.......

Instead of internally venting wastegates in your turbos, the ports in them are bunged, the actuators removed and the manifolds modified to vent the excess exhaust gases through a runner to a single or twin external wastegate. On the picture below of mine you can see the exhaust manifolds from each bank have been joined across the back of the engine. The wastegate is bolted just below where they join and has a piece of pipe coming off it, that is the screamer pipe. It makes a very distinctive noise! Twin setups won't have the runner across the back of the engine but instead will have a wastegate for each bank.

Advice with dashboard wiring
Thanks for the input guys, yeah that is bloody expensive for a little box but I do prefer the uncluttered look of the kph dials. You're good with electronics Groover, ever fancied making them? But not selling them for £100:biggrin:

Advice with dashboard wiring
Are these kph to mph converters reliable? Is that the best way of doing it without forking out for UK clocks?

Ready for Jae ... couple pics
Looking good bud, wasn't to sure on those dials when you first posted them but they look very tidy:thumbup1:

I'd seen a clip of that on Rudetube but not the full version, very funny:laugh:

Gearbox heatshield
Cheers guys, im guessing they are the same for SWB and LWB?
-
Gearbox heatshield
Yeah sorry my mistake, it's the exhaust heatshield in the transmission tunnel. I came across them on the Z1 website but mine didn't have one so was curious as to whether it was normal or not

Anybody work in a dismantlers/scrap yard?
Im after a cam cap that holds the camshaft to the head for my 1999 Passat 1.9tdi, VFN engine which is also used in some Audi's not sure which though. I've had no joy getting one of these from local breakers. If anyone can help or point me in the right direction i'd appreciate it. Cheers

Mine's missing, do you guys recommend having one or is it considered unnecessary?

Result of my Remap
Exciting stuff Nick, when do you reckon you will have it all sorted and be able to re-map? Where did you guys go for the rolling road?
-
Finally getting it tuned - guess the power
How did they know it was the exhaust stopping any further power gain? Have you seen the group buy for AMS headers that Mark Derby is sorting out? Shame you didn't get what you were hoping for but a very interesting read
