  1. I've briefly read of a build thread by someone using some Borg Warner turbos, they looked very long compared to every other turbo i've ever seen. What specifically is the appeal of those two brands? I know BW do a twin scroll, is that what you're referring to?
  2. Long story short for anyone interested the engine I bought was previously sold to the the person I bought it from as a built engine, so either the initial seller bullsh1tted him or the garage that person used didn't carry out the work and took the money anyway.
  3. I just understand it as the atmosphere is thinner up there so you have less resistance as you fall. The air being thinner is the same reason airliners fly so high, less resistance so they consume less fuel. It was amazing to watch him do that, a very unique experience
  4. Cheers guys, i've been speaking with him so could the thread be locked for now please as I don't feel it's right that he's potential going to be victimised from what was just supposed to be a reference thread. As it's not as I was told I have called him so we can sort it out. Cheers
  5. Vods, yes I see your point on how it was worded to the engineer but regardless my PM lists parts. Steams contacted me this morning so i'll dig the thread out for you guys if need be, im sure it will be perfectly civil. Thanks for your help J.S you have a PM regarding engines and crisps!
  6. Not wanting to be argumentative mate but working longblocks go for far less than £550. They frequently sell for around £350 with all the ancillaries and tubs on here. Yes it seemed like a very good deal hence why I bought it, it is after all a used engine not a newly reconned one. I like to think that an engineering workshop would be able to take a rod and piston and see who made them. The rod clearly has a Nissan symbol on it and an Eagle rod has Eagle written on it and is easily visible with the sump off. I managed it and removing a piston would have easily identified that. All discussion of the engine was done via PM and phone. Anyway im calling him tonight so i'll take it from there. I don't want this turning into a witch hunt/slag fest with any names being dragged through the dirt. Cheers
  7. Story goes the engine came with the car, he had a local engineering shop dismantle it to check it had the parts he was told it had then he had the heads rebuilt, polished and ported and an uprated head gasket fitted. The build quality of it makes me think it hasn't been anywhere near an engineer and there is no reason an engineer would tell him there were uprated parts when there weren't so it was all just lies. £650 - longblock
  8. A 'trusted' member who recently broke his car, i'll speak to him later and see what he has to say. Fecking furious and upset right now, just been fed a pack of lies!
  9. I needed the reference to check what I have in my engine Mark, they don't look like Wiseco's to me, what do you think? Do you like my Eagle rods, nice aren't they? I bet the ACL bearings and ARP bolts are there as well:cursing:
  10. If anyone has any pistons to hand could they post up a picture of the underside of a stock and a Wiseco piston that I can use for reference to mine please. Just had a trawl through Marks build thread but there is nothing of the bottom of the piston Cheers
  11. I saw this last week when I was picking up some parts, looks brilliant!
  12. Looks great in white mate, do you have any interior pics?
  13. You posted while I writing my post. It's still the wrong chip for his car as far as I can see
  14. Can you explain? If a standard chip is chucking in the amount of fuel for the amount of air flowed at 9psi then you turn it up to 14psi and uprate the chip accordingly (to increase fuel flow I thought) you'll get more or less the same AFR right? How can a chip designed to run on higher boost not overfuel a lower boost application it wasn't designed for? Don't read this as me being argumentative
  15. Did you take the seat out Daz, much more space to be upside down then lol
  16. If you are running a chip that's going to be fuelling for 360bhp then it's going to be expecting you to be running higher boost (more air in from higher boost requires more fuel). If you have no boost controller or mig tips then it's definately not the chip you should be running right now it will just overfuel. Standard boost needs a standard chip. If you have no joy getting a standard ECU and currently have a socketed ECU (the chip can be pulled out and we can show you which one if need be) then John Dixon or JeffTT may be able to help. JD's sending me a chip for mine with a completely standard map to drop in. As said already just try to find or borrow a known working standard ECU first then let us know if it works or not.
  17. Im liking it, as Phutumsch said if you can spray a bit of colour on it quick it will help see the contours better
  18. So cost wise there isn't much in it for say 40k miles if you run the Cu for the full 10k life, just the hassle of swapping them more frequently?
  19. What does a set of suitable copper plugs cost out of interest?
  20. Little *******! Good of them to leave you a clue
  21. Love it, especially the bumper and nose panel
  22. I was working out in the car port last night till gone 1 and we had a few spells of sleet and hail but no snow, it got down to 2.8 on my thermostat here in Norwich last night
