  1. Might be a daft question, but out of curiosity is there a nissan equivalent of the 'paperclip' test on vauxhalls that some of you may be familiar with, whereby you bridge two pins on the diagnostic plug with a bent paperclip or similar and the ecu fault codes are flashed up by the engine management light blinking in a set sequence that translates into fault code numbers?.
  2. Definately mate, my missus's mum lives not far from admaston, on the brooklands in welington :)
  3. It was just the fuse, both horns working ok now :)
  4. checked fuse in engine bay and it had blown so hopefully sorted :)
  5. Cheers kev....as for the rest of you.....shame on you....shame on you all! ;)
  6. Whereabouts in telford are you mate?......im in ketley :)
  7. Followed the guide thats floating about and heated up in the oven to seperate the two parts.the '300zx' lettering was already clear as mines an oem illuminated panel, just the el strip was knackered.
  8. El sheet and inverter arrived today, cheers phutumsch :) See what you mean about the ciggie lighter bit ;)
  9. Oh, and my local nissan dealer has just rang to say all the bits to replace my window sliders have arrived so happy days :)
  10. Have got an el strip and inverter on its way for my rear centre panel, my fusebox cover arrived at the weekend, ive taken the amber reflector out of my front indicators and fitted amber bulbs and have a complete scuttle panel on its way...so its full steam ahead :) Still have my rear trim panels to re-cover and hopefully sort out a respray in the not to distant future ;)
  11. Forget what ive just said then, I wrongly assumed it was a v6 omega , sorry. Yours will probably have the 2.0 x20xe ecotech engine then, so I would say whip it out and V6 it instead ;)
  12. No problem, will post the part numbers tomorrow but as said they are for the cast alloy covers not the plastic type.the alloy ones usually fetch good money on ebay but you can get them quite cheap from a breakers, especially the traditional breakers where you can still wander round and take the off yourself.iirc I paid about £15 a pair and definately money well spent. One more thing is that a blocked crankcase breather can cause this problem on v6 vauxhalls,as the camcover seal is the first thing to leak due to increased crankcase pressure so that may be worth checking.its an aluminium housing at the rear of the engine, sort of behind the drivers side cylinder head, with a hose going to the inlet plenum.take of the hose and blow down it, you can soon tell if its clear. Hope this helps :)
  13. I can remember going to a scrapyard in welshpool in wales years ago and there was a RS3100 Capri (remember those anyone?) with about 5 other cars stacked on top of it!.....you should see what they fetch now :)
  14. I agree, I think they would definately sell.Would be a lot better than the current rash of new cars with old names that are about at the moment such as the Scirroco, fiat 500 etc.First car I can remember as a kid was my dads mk1 1300gt escort, white with black vinyl interior.can remember the seats used to get bloody hot in the summer and burn your legs with shorts on! On a similar note suzuki built the 1100 Katana in the early eighties, and re-released it in Japan around 2001 and sold out almost immediately.it was virtually the same as the original and was probably the ultimate retro.
  15. Forgot to sayit best to clean as much oil as possible from the plugholes as possible before removing the plugs, as they can get get quite full and if the oil is burnt off when the engine is run it can coat the lambda sensor and throw up a fault code and knacker the cat, quite rare but have seen it happen.have got part numbers for alloy cover seals and 'o' rings if you want them :)
  16. The best fix is to fit alloy cam covers off a x25xe vectra engine.the plastic camcovers fitted to v6 omega and calibra engines have very thin rubber seals, whereas the alloy cover seals are a different design and seal a lot better.when the seals are replaced you also should replace the 'o' rings on the bolt holes, there is a recess for them on the inside of the cover and they go brittle with age.i would definately recommend the alloy covers, as its a common problem and you will end up replacing the seals on the plastic covers repeatedly.did this on my v6 calibra and never had any bother with it after.
  17. It happens mate..... I started buying bits for mine before i'd even bought it!!! :)
  18. Had a pcv problem on mine recently.drivers side one was stuck and was causing the engine to pressurise on boost.Lee Dent found it by testing for boost leaks, as he pressurised the system you could hear the leak and feel the leak when you took the oil filler cap off.cleaned both pcv valves with carb cleaner and put it all back together and was perfect after that. If you have the same problem it may have blown your crankshaft oilseal.if im wrong im sure someone will correct me :)
  19. Its v6 vauxhall motors that fill the plug holes with oil!!!, I gave that as an example of the type of thing that can happen if engine breather block up.....on engines in general.
  20. Will have to have a look tomorrow Was down your way last week Groover......stayed in Thorness Bay for a week , nice it was too :)
  21. Yeah, they fold in and out perfect on the switch, drivers side just seems to move a bit at anout a ton (on a private road, obviously ;) ).
  22. Sorry to hijack this thread......but does anyone elses mirrors 'wobble' at speed?.....my drivers side one does and not sure if its something they all do :)
  23. My Calibra DTM Edition that I sold last month when I bought the zed was one of only 34 v6 DTM's produced and one of 12 still left on the road....in the world!....thats rare!.The entire production run of DTM's were produced in 1 month (July 1995) :)
