  1. The Speedo is currently off the car, next to me in fact. I've took the Speedo dial off before and reordered any visible connections. However I may have missed some? Anything else I can look for?
  2. since I've had my car the Speedo has been intermittent. I have posted this before but without success :( I have also trawled through the history/search, but still unsure. Ok, from research I believe the speed sensor sends it signal to the instrument cluster, magic happens and then the cluster sends the signal to the ECU. This is where I get confused..... I fitted a turbo timer this year and took the speed sensor signal from the wire at the ECU. My timer displays the speed accurately and constantly. No problems at all (in km only) So the problem must be in the cluster??? I've resoldered all the joints on the cluster pcb. I've hooked up a voltometer to the wire behind the cluster (with the cluster disconnected) to check for pulse signal and cannot get any signal at all? Also noticed the timer gets no signal with the cluster disconnected. The main reason I want this fixed is my power steering only works for about 2 mins after startup and I think the issues are connected. Someone help please!!
  3. They do a specific kit for it mate, check out there website. Don't forget you get a discount as a member. Or msg anthonyd in the traders section.
  4. Sky 447 now!! Get to watch Matt Samuel drive his 300zx round a track whilst only looking out the side windows!!! ;)
  5. It's a fan to pull the interior air over a temp sensor for the climate control, they can get noisy due to age. Try cleaning it??

Sorry mate, too far for me :(
  7. Welcome back mate, I believe "bigJim" was the first guy that gave me help on here. So I guess he's to blame for my forum addiction ;)

Sorry for jumping in, but I have to say I agree with the above post. As a relatively new member who reads probably 95% of all posts (sad I know :) ) I really do think the mods and committee do an excellent job and keep this place running well and I understand there has been problems in the past with Mrs hollowpoint (please realise this is the only forum I use and I do not know of Mrs hollowpoint anywhere else) But it does look like she has an extremely short leash. Maybe that's how you guys want a previously banned member to be controlled. I just thought it might be useful to everyone involved to be aware of how this looks to the average addicted forum user. Maybe the smilies are genuine, maybe not, I guess you guys know more than me. However if I see posts ended with them I always believe them to be in jest. Maybe I'm a little naive. :)
  9. Looking really nice mate, I really like that style of rear bumper. I think it suits a Z rear end so well.
  10. Don't know how to link, so...... If you look a few posts down below yours in the help and advice section. I have a thread entitled "windscreen demister". In there is a link to the service manual diagnostic procedure (pdf file). Hope that helps ;)
  11. Cool, I'll have another try at getting hold of him.
  12. Silly boy ;) I think I have his address somewhere, from when I tried to get hold of him in the past. Is his workshop in thetford, can I just pop in??
  13. If I was a little more intelligent it would help no end ;) Ok, I've scanned through the relevent sections and although a little complicated, I will try and check it out tomorrow ( if I get time, day at the zoo planned) thanks redwine.
  14. That would be great mate, thanks for the help. I don't suppose you know the guy that breaks our cars in thetford. Andy, I think? I've tried phoning and msg him via eBay in the past, but can never get a reply :( He would be a useful contact to have, I think ;) Edit: by the way sorry for the slow replies, I'm not being notified via email of my subscribed thread posts??
  15. Thanks tony, I may well do that. I thought you had moved Wales way?? The button beeps and if the fan is off when I press it, it comes on but just towards your face.
  16. I cannot be the first to have this problem, surely?? :)
  17. Ok, since I've had my Z, I have not been able to get air to blow out of the vents at the top/back of the dash :( I've been putting off the repair because I cannot be arsed to bust my back trying to get up under the dash. However I'm getting a bit bored of guessing where the road is at night!! :kamikaze: When I press the demister button, the air comes out of the "face" vents. When I did my retrim, I found that the pipe that connects the air flow from centre console to door vent was basically just forced roughly into place. (I've yet to find something that someone hasn't f##ked about with yet) Anyway, is it possible that there is another connecting pipe off, or is it going to be something electrical?? I think I read once about some kind of heater diagnostic?? But can't find it. (although it's quite possible I dreamt about that)
  18. Just keep on fighting mate, I'm a firm believer of battling these kind of things. Seen a few circumstances of people laying down and letting various illnesses take over them. When things get too bad they have tried to fight back, but it's so much harder if you haven't battled it all the way through. Good luck.

  20. Watching this thread with huge interest. As it will be what I''ll be doing over winter :( I think I would run a silicon pipe all the way from the targa, right through and out the sill. That way eliminating any chance of it happening again. Mastic the bit that pokes out in place.
  21. I think zcentre do them.
  22. I'd gladly come and have a look, but you're a bit far from me. Sorry

  24. Ok, now swap number 6 coilpack with one of the others. Try pulling the coil plugs out, one by one again. If the problem moves to the swapped coil pack, you know the the problem is the coil pack. If the problem stays at number 6, try swapping the spark plug with a different one. That will then eliminate the spark plug as the fault. In my experience it's always either the coilpack or the spark plug that is the problem. Good luck
