Warning / Can this be repaired
Nooo it applies to any material. The reason behind it is where the material is cracked, all the force is directed at the crack (a very small surface area) thus driving it deeper and deeper. If you now drill a hole at the root of this crack it will spread the stress forces around the inside of the hole to a greater surface area. The material can now withstand this load because it's distributed 'better'. My dad used to do it on his old British bikes for example, they had loads of vibration and used to crack his aluminium mudguards untill he drilled a hole at the root of the crack to stop it. HTH :duffer:

Might be something here worth looking at? http://search.stores.ebay.com/gripforce-clutches_300zx_W0QQfcdZ2QQfciZQ2d1QQfclZ3QQfrtsZ0QQfsnZgripforceQ2dclutchesQQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQfsubZ15QQsaselZ98015562QQsofpZ0

TBH the stock TT pressure plate has a very high clamping force, 900kg IIRC, so if you're on a mega budget you could just buy a good quality friction plate (assuming the flywheel and pressure plate have not been abused :wack:)

That's a critical and very good piece of advice there. Stu, you must make sure your mate drills the hole otherwise the crack will keep going.

Does any other Nissan use our oil pressure sender?
Shocking! The problem I'm having is after a motorway run to work, nothing high speed, 70-80 mph for about 8 miles happily reading about 50psi. When I get off and stop at the lights it tends to read almost 0psi on tickover! Even revving it up to 1500-2000rpm does not seem to fix it. Strangely when I stop the engine, turn off ignition then restart it seems better. It must be gauge or sender really.

That looks damn sexy Jimmy :D Well done mate.

I always thought it was the sender? I did an oil flush & change last weekend, seems worse now than before :( Ditto!

Does any other Nissan use our oil pressure sender?
Yes, for the Z Well new is £80 is it? You could get an aftermarket setup for much less than that and a secondhand one might be as bad as mine. TBH my stock gauge is playing up, this morning on the motorway it read a nice 60psi, stopping at the lights it went down to 0 and stayed there for a while. I stopped the engine and checked the oil and there was plenty in. It's Total 10w40 IIRC One day I might really have no oil pressure and think the gauge is faulty, that's why I'm interested in an alternative if anybody found one.

As title........ Or is there another way using an aftermarket sender unit? Plan B is an aftermarket gauge but I really don't want to go down that route yet. TIA Rob.

:(:( RIP Dave Very sad news. Regards, Rob & Wendy

Boost Pressure
You want one that is quite low because when you fit an EBC you cant set the boost pressure lower than the wastegate pressure. Maybe 10, 12 or 15psi would be good?

Trond, ethanol attacks your injectors and fuel system in general. I would not go near it IMO. If you do a search, I'm sure there's a pipe that can simply be pulled off before the test and refitted afterwards.
