  1. When is it though? How long have I got to build an engine?
  2. Get a sat nav and read the GPS speed. This will tell you which is correct :D
  3. What mods to the tubs have been made to make them stage 2 hybrids?
  4. RAF Brize Norton Carterton Oxfordshire OX18 3LX 01993 842551 This is the address...... How close it is to you?
  5. Is that at 8,600 rpm though or sooner in the rev range? and LMAO @ project WTF :)
  6. Iain, what kind of power is it making at those revs?
  7. That is very impressive! Awesome. I've just checked, that is 80 miles away from me, when is the next exent? I might be up for it :D
  8. A short stroke conversion, yes. But as far as I'm aware, all the 'stroker' kits available increase the stroke to gain capacity. You'll make the engine effectively a long stroke and not be able to rev so highly. Beyond 9,000 rpm I would think you'd need titanium con rods maybe? Just to lower the reciprocating mass. At the very least the crank, pistons & con rods will have to be balanced to a gnats knacker (technical term ;)) statically and dynamically. Is somebody hoping for 200mph on stock gearing? ;)
  9. You want a Honda Jazz then. The best small car ever. Reliability 100% in the JD Power surveys. Our family has quite a few of them they're so good. Well specced as well with aircon, sunroof, CD, PAS, EWx4, 50mpg taking it steady. Brilliant.
  10. B&Q, Wickes, Local plummers :p :slap: Sorry I couln't resist it :D :duffer:
  11. It used to be a Saab! Looks like it's stood up quite well considering it's been on it's roof! to Saabs strength! :duffer:
  12. Christ! I'm glad you're OK Dave!
  13. Best thing for you to do is go get a spare hub (so the engineering firm you find won't have to hang on to your zed), the correct disc you're going to use and give them to the engineering place along with a caliper. Say to them "Make me two mounting brackets please, I have no money but will do sexual favours in lieu :p" Disclamer: The last part is a joke...........But it may just work :D haha
  14. LOL that sounded like a right mission!!!!!!! Well done for sticking at it and changing the radiator. Oh and a '98 TT Series 5 with VVT....... Who would have thought it? ;)
  15. Whoops? they do for me..... Let me fix it...
  16. Spec as follows: Genuine series 5 Z32, manufactured: May 1998 (confirmed from chassis number) '99 spec interior switches, 16Bit genuine JWT ECU, Blitz ID meter & boost controller, Racelogic Traction Control, KYB AGX dampers, Greenstuff pads, HID headlights, USA 160mph speedo, 21,000 kms (13,000 miles) from new, as new Toyo Proxes T1R's. Cobra alarm/immobiliser. A few pics: How clean is this engine bay? ;) The underneath is as clean as the engine and interior! Well this didn't even make a "For Sale" thread. This car's new owner pm'ed me and we did a deal on what I consider to be car that's in best original condition on this forum. It was sad to see it drive off, but I know he loves it so that makes me feel better inside :D I wish him all the very best, and I'll be on the end of the phone if you need me! :duffer: All the best. Robert.
  17. The connectors to it may be corroded giving a higher resistance and conciquently the wrong reading!.
  18. Check if there is smoke from the dipstick tube. Does it ever blow the dipstick out?
  19. Yep! And on doing a conZult switching them on/off manually changes idle RPM. Mike Feeney confirmed from the chassis number that indeed it was manufactured in May 1998, so it's only just gone 10 LOL awwwwwwwwww bless :)
  20. I don't think so. Unless the engine was changed in 1999 with less than 1,000km on it. It has the later style injectors too and from what I can see, the engine is 100% geniune, never been out ever. So, I would say the 'myth' about later models loosing VVT is not quite true ;)
  21. Nope, I guess valve stem oil seals are quite hard to diagnose, apart from Znuts description. that's the only way i know of, oh and a puff of blue smoke on startup after leaving it overnight.
  22. I checked last night. My '98 series 5 DOES have variable valve timing!
  23. Exactly what are the hybrid internals?
  24. Ahhhhhhh the virtues of having a spare engine to work on ;)
