  1. What's he studying, home economics GCSE? Knob jockey!
  2. It's no wonder you were cold, travelling at 110mph 4000ft up! Lol. Must have been good though, the wing I learn to fly with only goes up to about 80mph max.
  3. [winge]Of course it would be illegal in this country because it might be a hazard to other road users. Too many do gooders! [/winge]
  4. 110mph  what were you flying? that's bloody fast for a flexwing. It does feel a bit odd to fly but you soon get the hang of it :)
  5. No m8, it's L-reg. I got her to cough up the £43 at least Shaun
  6. I think you may well be right, Lol :hyper:
  7. That's very cheap, how big a share did he get for that? I'll bear that in mind ;)
  8. At first i couldn't get the hang of the system for losing altitude, but once I grasped the concept I was OK. I haven't got an aircraft as yet, I've been flying the school's. I'll probably get something like a Mainair blade 582, you can pick them up for about 6-7K. You're one lucky person having access to a 3-axis microlight, I'd love one of those but it's the cost/storage etc. One thing that I do like about the flexwing is that you can land just about anywhere with it & at the end of the day you can pack it up & store it in your garage.
  9. We did stalls a few weeks back. The blade 912 is such a good aircraft that it's difficult to get a decent stall from it TBH, but I managed to get a few good ones ;) This time I had to get the aircraft on the ground safely in an engine failure situation, i.e. know the wind direction, find a suitable field, check for power lines etc & then use the beats method to lose altitude. Good fun. We're doing unusual attitudes next, should be interesting! That really will be like a rollercoaster ride!
  10. I did some engine failure situations away from the air field yesterday, quite interesting! At first I didn't quite get it but when I did, it was no problem. The instructor said I did brilliantly! Not sure how I'd do if the engine was really fooked though, lol. The instructor rekons it'll be 4-5 hours before I go solo  absolutely can't wait!!! What a feeling of freedom that'll be :)
  11. I got this one & it's the biz http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/fz10.html The image stabilizer is sooo good that you can get a perfect image anywhere, even when using 12x optical zoom
  12. So long as duct tape isn't holding the wing together, Lol. I'm not sure what the score is on colour blindness TBH, I know that they're pretty relaxed when it comes to medicals, so you'd probably be OK. I found this on a microlight website, not very conclusive though: (F) Declaration of Medical Fitness This is a simple form that you and your GP must sign – all it states is that you do not have any medical condition that would preclude you from obtaining a licence. The requirements are pretty much the same as those for driving a car. No medical examination should be necessary, and many GPs do not charge for this declaration.
  13. Oooerrr missus! Someone had to say it  Lol
  14. Wow, that picture is ace! You were brave going through clouds. Mind you, it's probably safer with a paraglider, you can easily get disorientated in a microlight, end up upside down or something! & isn't recommended.
  15. Don't forget though, our decisions on this issue where swayed by this so called 'intelligence information' showing that Iraq had WMD, Makes you fookin mad :mac1: You can't believe a thing any government tells you, they're all a bunch of lying manipulative b@stards & innocent people such as Ken have to die as a result. It should be MP's who get their heads severed!
  16. Cheers 4 starting this thread up, I had the same problem as yourself & i think I've located the problem with my Zed too. I waddled the connector on the LHS of the PTU & the engine developed a misfire, so rekon that's where the problem lies.
  17. Poor bloke if this is true. What must his mother must be going through now  My thoughts are with his family right now.
  18. He must have been havin a w@nk or something not to notice a deer in the road FFS! Lol
  19. Amazing, hell of a coincidence that the same thing happened twice with the same car etc.
  20. You need to do 15 hours minimum before you can go solo. Basically you need to be able to take off & land perfectly every time before they'll trust you to fly on your own. Once you can do that then you need to fly a further 10 hours on your own. I took off & landed a few times yesterday, the instructor was well impressed especially as the conditions weren't brilliant  Rekon I could take off & land on my own now, wohoo! Never thought I'd say this but it beats driving the zed!
  21. Fookin network, I just wrote a long reply & the net falls over! It's the 5th time in a week the network has gone t!ts up! The details of where I'm doing my flying are here http://www.wlms.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/westlanc.htm Lessons are £80 an hour which isn't bad considering it can cost £50 for 20 mins! Just found out that you can do them in Caernarfon now though, so I might do them there instead. It saves on driving all the way to Southport only to find that it's called off due to sh!t weather. I've got 2 hours flying tomorrow if the weather improves
  22. It's absolutely brill, I love every minute of it! I've done about 6 hours flying but I'll be 'in circuit' as they call it, i.e. taking off & landing next. (if the weather gets any better that is!!) Can't wait. Has anyone else on here done any or got their PPL or own a Microlight (flexwing or otherwise)? I've attached some pics, the first one is of Formby, second is of an island off the Wirral & the third is of North Wales.
  23. Yeah, I wish that b@stard would fook off to another area! Prefferably Davy Jones' locker! Lol.
  24. Lol, I don't wave to hairdressers, they might get the wrong idea & think that I'm looking for a cut & blow job
