  1. At least you had some satisfaction though, well done! I was attacked by two thugs who I knew and it took 4 weeks for the police to come and take a statement. When I talked to the copper who was dealing with the case, he said 'Oh yes, I know Phil (one of the guys who had attacked me), he's been in and out of trouble for years, we kind of have respect for him now'. As you can imagine, I thought WTF! It seemed that the reqular criminals get respect! All throughout the prosecution process, I got the impression that he (the copper) was hinting that I should drop the case & had the distinct impression that he was more on the side of the thug! This experience left me feeling very bitter towards the Police in general. I know that there are decent professional police men & women out there but the bad ones give the whole force a bad name.
  2. I don't know if this is true generally, but most of the coppers in North Wales are a bunch of Arrogant w@nkers! I know, I've been out with a couple of police women from around here & both of them were control freaks & arrogant with it! It seems to me that these control freaks get themselves into the force so that they can push people around!! There are some decent coppers but not that many, most of them are on a power trip! Jesus Mas, just read your reply, that's F*****g terrible!
  3. Timmy, I was going towards Bangor through the Conwy/Penmaenmawr tunnel, they'd redirected traffic from the other side of the road through the tunnel, so it was down to a single lane & 40mph. The camera was on the Bangor side just outside of the tunnel on the right hand side facing towards me. From what everyone has said, I don't think I need to worry anyway.
  4. Cheers for that, if I get a letter then I'll get in touch.:)
  5. Oops! should have said guys & girls! Sorry Ajay;) >Cheers guys, from what you've said I >should be in the clear. >Thanks for putting my mind at rest:)
  6. Cheers guys, from what you've said I should be in the clear. Thanks for putting my mind at rest:)
  7. The place was shut when we got there but Latz took us for a look around the place. I'd love to do that for a living, it must be great taking the cars for a spin after tuning them up! Seems like a dream job!
  8. They were white flashes. & it has a square camera or at least that's what I though it was. My brother seems to be the expert & he was convinced that it was a Gatso.
  9. I was all set to buy it but unfortunately the tarpolin that he'd covered the car with had done extensive damage to the paint work on the front wings, doors, etc etc. He wasn't even aware of it until he looked last night. He was gutted & so was I. Someone else said that they'd have the car though. Apparently, they own a body shop, so they'll be able to do the bodywork themselves. If anyone out there is interested though, get in touch with Latz because he may still have it & for the money it's still a bargain
  10. Went up to Leigh near Manchester to have a look at a car Latz was selling. He took my brother & I for a spin in that Merc E55 AMG. 0-60 in 4.5seconds & it got to phenomenal speeds in no time at all. That is one amazing car. Also, we got to have a look around Grasshopper Pro Sport too. Some of the Zed's in there are out of this world. I was well impressed! Just wish I had loads of dosh to throw at mine!!:(
  11. I've just rebuilt the engine in the 200 & she's running like a dream. Took me 220 miles last night no problem. Well chuffed:)
  12. Cheers for that. Every site I've looked at on the web says that Gatso's (which is the camera that flashed me) can only get pictures of your car if you are driving away from them, so perhaps it's been set up to flash at cars travelling either way just to act as a deterrant & therefore may not even have a film in it! The Truvelo uses an Infra red camera to take pictures of the car from the front, it definately wasn't one of those. I'll let you all know how it goes anyway. PS. it's not the fine that bothers me, more the getting points on my license!
  13. Here's a bit of useful info I found on the web....... In the UK two main types of speed camera exist - they look very similar but work in different ways. The most common speed cameras are the grey boxes on poles that are Gatso's. These use radar to measure a vehicles speed and then take 2 pictures half a second apart of any vehicle that passes above the set limit. Whilst these can be set to fire at the front of vehicles, it is extremely rare for them to be used like this. If a Gatso is on the other side of the road and facing you, they can go off in error and flash. If they do it is not likely to result in you being sent a NiP - in fact we have never heard of a case where the evidence (photo) from a Gatso on the other side of the road has been used to prosecute. The other much less common grey box camera is a Truvelo and this will be set to fire at the front of a vehicle. These use loops in the road to measure your speed (so radar detectors wont detect them) and they will flash in your face. I hear from drivers who have been flashed by these at night and temporarily blinded by the flash. Whilst this does not seem a safe approach, they are certified by the Govt to be used like this. So if you have been flashed from the front by a camera, unless its a Truvelo you are very unlikely to hear any more of it. ;)
  14. That's a good point I guess. If I do get done, I'll be so p!ssed because I wasn't going that fast at all. Even if I was doing 44mph on the speedo, it is probably less in reality. It certainy didn't feel that quick. That camera must have been set to go off at 42mph or something stupid! Not only that, a lorry was going as fast if not quicker than I was. (it was about 50yds in front of me) Anyway, thanks for the support guys. Time to get a GPS radar detector me thinks!;) Shaun
  15. I'm not so sure about that, apparently, 9000 people were done in 1 weekend on the A55 near Llanfairfechan which is where I was flashed. ****!ng North Wales Police are a bunch of W@nkers! They've got nothing better to do than p!ss the poor motorist off! they don't crack any real crime around here! I've been looking on the net and apparently, if the speed limit is temporary due to road works then they can only fine you & can't give you points. Anyway, I was only doing 44mph on my speedo as my brother saw it immediately after. I thought that they were supposed to give you 10% leeway + 2mph? Then again, that was in 1999, they've probably changed things again since then!
  16. How do you mean? There were lines on both sides of the road which I've never seen before!
  17. I wasn't doing any more than 44mph according to my speedo on the 200SX & the camera flashed several times. BUT, I was driving towards the camera, ie., the camera was on the other side of the road facing me. There was nothing else on the road at the time as it was 1:20am! I thought they couldn't do you from the front. (oops, that sounds rude:rolleyes: ) So what the Fook is going on?!!:( If they try to do me then I'm going to say that it was a friend who was over from the States who borrowed my car, F***k them!!
  18. If you have it, could you please ring me on 07790 870508. We're on our way to see a car and we can't get an answer from his work/mobile no. Failing that, does anyone have his address - if so can you ring above no. Many Thanks.
  19. I measured 0-60 in 6 seconds in my brother's Zed (TT). I think that the auto is quicker for most as it's tricky doing a perfect start in a manual! I've never got 0-60 in 5.6 secs in my manual Zed, (well, not whilst I've been timed anyway!) although it feels a hell of a lot quicker than my brothers car. AndyDuff, what do these solenoids do then?
  20. Nice idea about the filming but it may result in the loss of present girlfriend + block & tackle!!! Then again, could do with some nice new blowers & I'm not talking Turbo's!!! :p
  21. I'm back with the same Zed but it still has a slipping clutch. Also it needs a new propshaft too I think. I've been concentrating my efforts on the 200SX recently as the engine wasn't well. It's OK now though, so I'll give the 300 a bit of TLC, poor thing must be feeling neglected! I still may end up selling the 300 yet, although if I didn't have to I wouldn't but I just don't get paid enough to keep the car running right, keep the 200SX on the road, do stuff to the house, do stuff with the girlfriend! I don't get overtime in my job which is a real bummer!
  22. Just paid the man using electronic transfer of funds & he's changed my access rights, all within the space of an hour. Can't be bad! It's nice to be back.:)
  23. That rattling noise that you get at low revs, what the hell is it? Is it knackered input shaft bearing or something? Or can it be cured by using a different oil. It seems to happen at about 1200-1700rpm in any gear & sounds like a horrible grating sound! Any ideas folkes?
  24. There must be some law in place to protect people from being so obviously ripped off despite what was said on the receipts etc. The same thing happened to me when I was 21. I bought a 280ZX from London BY MY SELF! I paid £2200 back in 1989 for a 1981 car which wasn't particularly cheap. Unfortunately, I bought it in the rain & therefore it looked OK. The seller also agreed to drive it back to Wales for me. He drove it half way & fooked off back to London! Leaving the car in Wolverhampton. In the ad, the car was described as 'Immaculate black'. When I got it home, it looked like a total shed. It was full of filler from front to back! & the spray job was cr@p! Someone valued it at about 1K less. Looking back, I should have sued but I was 21 & very naieve.
  25. Alternatively, get an LED in series with a 1K Ohm (brown+black+red+...!) resistor & place across the injector plug terminals (or the coil plug terminals). Make sure you put it the right way around though. ie. anode to ground. (If you get it the wrong way around, it'll just do F all!) Turn engine over and check that the LED flashes on & off.
