  1. Well, I took apart my dodgy 'replacement' mirror tonight - No luck unfortunately, it sparked on the motor contacts, and I think it was getting warmer but could have just been my body heat, but anyway - no movement. I was unable to turn the shaft by hand (fingers) and had to use pliers (without power connected), even then it was tough to turn. It should be easy right, until you power up the magnet 'core', as until then there is no resistance against the normal magnets, right? Anyway - I saw this and for £2 I think it's worth a shot - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-Torque-Dual-Shaft-DC-3V-12V-High-Speed-FK-280PA-Mini-Motor-for-Hobby-Toy-/282238076909?hash=item41b6b347ed:g:yEEAAOSwmc1XPSTg Shaft is a little short, and I'd have to cut of the 'tail', but sizes seem good. Not sure I need high RPM...but so the mirror folds faster, I can live with that.
  2. So, using my old mirrors, I stripped down one of the motors and I connected 12v. The pink and orange wires are wires that come from the car side, and where I connected the 12v The white disc in the pics seems to be a switch that revolves when the mirror folds/unfolds, and must cut the power to the motor once folded/unfolded. There's what looks to be capacitors connected underneath the IC, not sure what these do. So, applying 12v directly to the motor did nothing, even after turning the motor manually. On checking with the meter; 12v enters through the pink and orange wires fine, and gets to the IC on the rotatory switch, but isn't getting beyond it, even if I rotate the switch. So I'm not sure if there's more than one issue here. I'll try the other motor tomorrow and see what's going on in there. Either way, I find it odd that 3 out of 4 motors that did work fine have just given up. I'm almost sure if I hadn't removed the first two from the car, they'd still be working. The replacements worked too when I got them, I tested them, after painting, one was dead. Just plain weird!
  3. I tried getting them from Nissan, but apparently they're discontinued. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  4. Hey, thanks for the offer, appreciate it! However these are my replacement mirrors. I still have my old pair, so I figured I should be able to get at least one of the motors working. I really need to get around to doing stuff! :) Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  5. Cheers :) Do you know if the the pump starts pumping on turning the key, but before starting the engine?
  6. So, I have petrol that's been in the tank for years, topped up with some months ago...either way it's old. My car has a running problem, and to rule out the fuel I want to drain the tank. I see no drain plug, so whats the easiest way to do this? Cheers!
  7. Cheers! I'll do that. I only just bought these replacement mirrors, so if I can fix rather than replace the motor, which was working, then I'll do that. My 'test' battery IS my Zed battery, but as I've been rebuilding my Zed I haven't needed a fully working battery, just something to power the windows and lights etc. I will be getting a new battery soon though.
  8. I'm looking at replacing the folding motor in my drivers wing mirror. Looking at Ebay, the motor looks similar to the following, only the contacts are at the bottom rather than the back - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-12V-DC-14000-RPM-Standard-Micro-Motor-High-Quality-Free-Postage/122005965840?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D38661%26meid%3Dd49682ef6e3a477b83fc2bc07e1dd0ef%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D122005965840 There wasn't any info on the motor when I opened up the wing mirror, so can anyone tell me if this motor will work? Annoyingly the motor was working before I painted the mirror!!! In fact it's the third motor to die (on other mirrors) after I painted them...weird. Unless the 'test' battery I'm using just doesn't have enough power left in it to operate the motor.
  9. Nice, painting yourself is very satisfying. 2k paint? Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  10. Hey, Looking for the screws for these - I don't have any screws that come close, annoyingly I don't know where mine have gone and would rather use 'proper' screws. I think they're the same as the front sidelight / indicator screws. Possible like this - https://conceptzperformance.com/nissan-oem-300zx-sidemarker-corner-combination-lamp-screw-90-96-z32-01451-00041_p_5921.php Cheers!
  11. This is interesting (in a sad sort of way, lol), but for me the knob is a separate entity on the end of the stick (or lever).
  12. So I was watching The Grand Tour, and like on Top Gear, Jeremy explained to the American's that it isn't a gear stick, it's a gear lever. I was pondering this today whilst driving up the A19...I don't think I know anyone who calls it a lever. So do you say stick, or lever? It's gear stick to me, always has been. It may be a regional thing, or perhaps an age thing... Saying that, Jeremy also told Jeff Goldblum on Top Gear, that we don't use the word geek in the UK, we say boffin. Now not sure about yourselves, but I've made it to 37 years of age without ever saying boffin, and have no plans to introduce it to my vocabulary. Reading this back; I probably need to get out more...

  14. Missed this...but found some streams online, but it's actually s04e04
  15. Interestingly I have a tube of Tiger Seal just laying around that wont be used. It's a sign!!
  16. So, Ive always liked this and thought about getting it, but does anyonre know how its fixed in place - does it mean drilling holes in the tailgate? http://www.zcentre.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.pbv.tpl&product_id=479&category_id=87&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=7&redirected=1&Itemid=7 My other concern was that I don't have a spoiler, I removed it for a smooth look, so if I did fit this, would it look out of place not having a regular spoiler? Cheers
  17. Looking for this plastic bit that sits behind the metal bracket of the seat belt (front door mounted). Cheers! :)
  18. Looking for a pair of mirrors in good condition, must be the motorised folding type. Colour doesn't matter, as I'll be painting them. Cheers
  19. Collection only from Seaton Burn, Newcastle area. https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/nissan-300zx-car-seats/1195287444
  20. My wheels came with nice aluminum valves so I already have them, I also have four wheels to do. Ok...maybe not worth it for £40- £60...
  21. They're brand new wheel, therefore do they still need balancing? Sorry if it's a stupid question...never had brand new wheels before.
  22. Ok, I'm considering fitting tyres (from Ebay) myself by hand. I've watched Youtube videos, and it looks simple enough using a pry bar or crow bar, some tyre lube stuff etc. Maybe they're just making it look easy... I don't want to ruin my new virgin rims. Just wondered if anyone had fitted their own tyres in a similar way and had any advice? Cheers!
  23. Only selling as I accidentally bought for SWB and I have LWB.... I'm looking for £50 - I'm in Newcastle for collection, I can ship using http://www.carpartcouriers.co.uk/, at £49...but note it is fragile, I can't take responsibility if it arrives damaged.
