  1. Gonna need to come down and have the crack with you Lee this car of yours is looking tidy!
  2. How far in advance would I need to book a Conzult and compression test in at Zedworld? Reason I'm asking is its 280 miles either way so need to sort out time off from work etc. Just gonna have to bite the bullet and go visit Jeff and see what's what with this engine so I know where to go from here :thumbup1:
  3. Will datascan be as good as a Conzult dude?
  4. Haha didn't realise he had his own band! Yea I listen to a lot of music (BFMV included) but I still found it pretty good as most of the time I can't understand what they are saying, although more so Trivium than Bullet.
  5. Looks like I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and arrange a few days off so I can travel down for a Conzult and get some work done whilst im there! Forgot to mention when I'm starting it I have to give it about quarter throttle so it makes any effort at all to start, once its started the car feels lumpy on the bottom end and runs a pretty high tick over until the temp gauge starts to climb (which takes a bit) and the characteristics change instantly. Also when the temp[erature is up to running temp the heaters still take about another 15 mins to start blowing warm air :/
  6. Bought my Zed with a private Reg on it and I think it hides the age of the car a bit (as she is getting on a bit at 20). Reg is to go with the car although : A20 XTT I'm guessing its meant to read A 20X(ZX) TT(twin turbo) or maybe not who knows :D
  7. Basically Ive been through everything I can think of engine wise after some help on here, apart from a Conzult and Zedworld is about 180 miles from me to get one done. We did a compression test (all be it from cold) and cylinder 1 had decent compression where as the rest were all relatively low (although all similar readings). Basically I'v had to wire the fuel pump fuse up to a switch so I can crank it over for a bit before flicking it on and it finally starts after some hefty cranking after that. My car starts similar to that but with more of the coughing that Z1's car does at the end until it finally starts :/ Strange thing is it starts great once its warmed up and for the rest of the day until its been left overnight.
  8. Well after buying my 1990 Manual TT and having a lot of bother starting from cold etc. I'm contemplating trying to get the winter out of this engine (If she'll prove reliable enough to start through the winter) and making a visit to Zedworld for a replacement engine. Pretty annoyed to say the least after paying the money for it and it to turn out to be as unreliable (contrary to what the seller made it out to be) but the car has to last me roughly 4 years so I suppose it's a piece of mind as well to have a good engine in. To get to the point what I'm asking here is how much am I talking for an engine/fitting from Zedworld and I'd probably be looking down the lines of new plugs/connectors to future proof it a bit! Or what are my alternatives? Any info or input would be much appreciated here guys
  9. Yea that's the car how I bought it so over time I'll be making it more to my taste but all my time has gone into getting it to start better from cold so the styling has taken a back seat :( It's 19's but think I'll be putting on a set of 17's for winter time! I'll try get some decent pictures next time I wash the car as it's impossible to keep clean at the moment -.- Few things on my to do list :- Change the FAILside front end as its horrendous looking Find a nice rear spoiler that will suit the car Set of MeisteR coilovers A steering wheel that you could actually catch a drift with when it gets out of shape But that will all come in time :D
  10. Took me long enough but here is a quick picture after a wash :
  11. Does anyone run their Zed with an Optima battery in it? Was thinking about a yellow top one if the dimensions are gonna let me fit one in. Or are there any better batteries on the market?
  12. Sorry about that I was out last night so I'm still a bit fragile lol http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2187506.htm
  13. Hoping someone can tell me what rear spoiler is on this Zed? (Sorry if it's any members on here thats selling it and I've posted a link)
  14. I ran the OBD and everything came back ok. I changed the plugs from the colder NGK 11c's to standard NGK 11's. It's had problems starting from cold since I got the car but after doing all that its been better up until that frost last night. I've set the AFC off so it technically shouldn't be interfering. I only started messing with the gadgets on it to get it closer to standard to try and get it to start from cold :/
  15. Thought everything was going ok until that freeze last night came out to it this morning and took forever to get it started from cold. Have to end up taking the fuel pump fuse out to drop the pressure and free up the plugs of fuel and start it with a little bit of throttle to catch it straight away before it floods with fuel again. The plugs have been changed I've also changed the ECU to a standard one to make sure its not being over fuelled/mis-timed.. I'm totally stumped, ideally I could be doing with a conzult but 200 miles to the nearest place that has the facility I think lol
  16. I'm basically wanting to go back down to standard fuelling/Ignition timing so just really need to know if a Series 2 manual ECU will work on a Series 1 manual zed?
  17. Dont get me wrong I love lowering the car to get the right stance, but I think there are certain type of cars for doing that with (e.g. Dub scene) but for me 300+BHP ain't the place for it, I want my car to have a bit of suspension travel/damping at 100 and plenty MPH :P
  18. Bought my Zed lowered 40mm on just springs and no dampers to match and to say its an annoyance is an understatement! The exhaust scrapes into my driveway and cant take speed bumps faster than 10mph and thats even with the car on 19's :/
  19. I've been told the ECU on my Zed has been modified (not sure how exactly) but I want to change it for a standard one. Is there any differences between ECU's in the newer 300ZX's or can I just simply take one from a series 2 and put it in my 1990? Reason I'm asking is I have a series 2 sitting for spares so wouldn't have to get another ECU :)
  20. Thanks for that Jeff, is there any way of telling if low compression is down to the timing or damage without basically taking the engine apart? It's starting every time now just need to give it about an inch of throttle when I turn it over and it starts straight away, all be it a bit lumpy for the first 5-10 secs.
  21. Never realised that the car has an Apexi AFC Neo so I've restored it to factory settings and it seems to be starting better now still think maybe a temperature sensor or Air regulator may need changed. So I'm hoping its not low on compression but I've ordered a tester to give it a check over anyway :)
  22. Looking for someone in West of Scotland or as near as poss to get a Conzult done (Done the OBD test and came back with nothing)
