  1. I'm thinking about replacing or refreshing all the suspension bits and bobs. So bushings, ball joints etc. Painting all the arms and legs etc. wheres best to get the full lot of bushings and ball joints and that?
  2. Thanks Joel. I think it looks so much cleaner
  3. Wasn't too happy with the side and front lights be If a little different. Just felt a little messy. The indicator (outer lights) are a mixture of light home made. I have Z1 BA Massive intercoolers so lights just don't fit. So I used some crystal clear ones, chopped the backs and inverted it (messy but worked). I also then used the glass from some of the lined indicators to match the fogs. I initially painted the inside chrome but then they didn't match the fogs and headlights. So now painted them a better colour. Originally the fogs are chrome inside but as you can see, mine were dull and rough at best. So, I completely disassembled them, cleaned the glass etc and again painted the inside the same as the indicators. Here's a couple of before and after of the indicators and fogs. Hope you all agree it looks better.
  4. Yeah, they were rated A for wet performance. It' deffo the car IMO. Probably worth going over the suspension bits. I was just wondering if it was dropped a little at the back whether people thought that could help?
  5. Steve, how the devil are you mate? I spoke to him about 2 years ago and he was doing alright. He still his car but it' very much a garage queen and rarely used. You ever up Sunderland way assuming you'e still on the wagons? Be class to catch up
  6. Thanks everyone. Sorry I took so long to reply. Been emptying my shed and having a tidy out. Anyway, will try and answer all questions. First, @Stephen, I do have a heavy foot, but that's Definately not the problem at all! The black Z is like double the power and I have much more confidence. It will soon up more too easy, so I feel like I'm feathering it. @Gonzo12c and @RichardS - due to it being a bit spinny and the tyres age (years and years) i decided to go for new ones all round. But due to the sizing, i really struggled to find tyres that would fit both the front and the back m, but I wanted the same around. I wasn' going for stupidly expensive but did look at the assymetric etc, but I couldn' find the same tyre in both fitments. Anyway, I went with Hankook Ventus S1 Evo3. I have some ventus v12 ones on the back of the black Z and I'e had no problem at all so they seemed a decent mid range choice. Richard, I think I did look at the ones you have from a previous post you'd made but I don' think I could get them or the reviews might have put me off. I can' remember tbh. @AndrewG - tyre pressure is 34. Could be something to do with their newness i guess but I've not really felt like it was an issue when I've had new tyres before. Conditions were probably slight damp but I wouldn't say cold. But the black car finds it absolutely fine. For some reason I just don' think it seems right.
  7. Following one of my wheels getting popped, I decided to change all 4 tyres as the car seemed to go sideway/wheelspid car too easily which gave me a little lack if confidence. Did have Yokohama tyres but they were on the old side. Anyway, changed the tyres, and it still spins up too easy. Just after people thoughts, do you think i should look to change the suspension and possibly drop it down a little? At the minute the car has some yellow Koni struts. I do have some coilovers somewhere I could put on.
  8. Rest in peace Mike
  9. Yes deffo.
  10. Good look mate. Let us know how you get on
  11. Welxome back to ownership. I' suggest either an air leak or MAF. It might ever be unplugged. Assuming you don havr conzult etc, You can pull error codes sticking a pin between 2 of the conzult plug prongs.
  12. I thought that at first when reading it as my lock barrel current spins and that' what I suspect my issue is. but then thought it' more likely the rod thing above as he said the centra locking isn't working. Given he can' even open from the inside, I'd agree it sounds like the rods are attached somewhere. Could even be at the interior handle.
  13. Thanksgiving. The front is already a 235/35 though.
  14. Thanks. Wouild the back be ok with 35?
  15. I do think it's right btw. Just want to be sure
  16. Just wondering if anyone knows the right tyre size. Or if the current is correct. It' the side wall I need help on. Front - 235/35/19 Rear - 275/30/19 Just wondering with the back being slightly smaller.
  17. Gotta be the getting the black one back, getting it fully up and running and painting it
  18. Thanks Andy. Hope all is well mate
  19. Will have a look at some point mate. Really loved the original rides section years ago.
  20. Many of you will have seen the many updates on Facebook etc, but I thought it's about time I posted up here a proper update on the black Z. Following the knock it had, I put everything back together but made the choice to buy a new shell as it felt like the all round best, and safest option. The welding the old one needed meant the engine would have had to come out etc anyway, Plus the rest of the car underneath was generally a bit poor. So I bought a low mileage car which many will know as NED the ZED. Note the name Hasn't stayed!!! The car only has like 54k miles on it. Rust free etc so felt like a great buy. Was a little gutted it's a Series 1 car, but I've made it a series 2 by changing the seat belt location and the aircon controls. Anyway, the shell was at dasstech as he had the car from Danny. So the decision was made to send the old one there as the new shell is being painted black before stuff gets moved over. In essence, it will be the same car apart from the colour, which was going to be an Audi Colour known as 'Black Panther Crystal Effect'. As Dasstech could do the mechanicals and the paint/body, it made sense for the one stop shop approach. One of the side skirt were bust, so I got car.mad to repair it as they seemed real rare and very popular. Anyway, turned out that they were proper original bonex bonneville ones which now makes sense as to never really seeing any others. I also had a stillen type III front lip to go on the car following my "make the car better" thread. Fast forward a couple of years and sadly the car was not done. Some of the shell was painted, other bits (doors, bumpers, bonnet, boot etc). The car was taking a stupid amount of time as Dasstech had taken on more than he could cope with really and time management felt an issue. Anyway, one thing lead to another and Darren closed Dasstech down. He did try Andy finish the car but it was quite far off when it came back. The bits painted originally were spot on, the bits painted later seemed to be a complete different colour black. Seemed like 3 different blacks on the car. 2 were definitely the same colour, but different manufacturers of the paint etc so the colour and mix were just different. The other looked more of a standard Z black. Perhaps the right paint but not mixed before painted. Either way it was a mess. He did offer to take the car back to do all in one once I got it running etc. Driveway Paint Job After the car came back, there was a fair bit to do but I could find the motivation to do all the mechanical, electrical and interior when I felt the car was a bit ugly. So, I decided I would re-paint it on the drive myself. A few of you know I'm fairly decent at this kind of thing having painted the blue wide arch on the drive. Anyway, it's came out spot on as I expected/hoped. You'd never know it wasn't painted in a booth. Since the above, I got the car running, had the interior redone by mondo as that was minging and black from the dusty garage. Needed reglueing anyway but it now needed new leather too. Fortunately I had some left from when I originally trimmed the car. I also sorted all the nests of wiring around the stereo and thing. There were loads of air leaks so found and sorted that lot out. There is still one where a pipe is kinked but I'll sort that. The car now runs really well but I will have it mapped again at some point. hopefully you all think the car looks well. Pictures about to follow
  21. I remember reading something some time ago about the newer type not mixing with yellow metals or something. However my black car at some point had had the pink one put in. The car was alsays perfect from a temperature perspective too. When I emptied it, it still looked perfect too. I still use it as I didn't want to mix the 2 and it still runs well. The above being said though, I'd stick with what everyone is recommnding and use the proper stuff. I do that on the blue one.
  22. Sounds like it acts similar to the old "rides" section from the naughties. I really loved that as you could click to see members cars really easily. Was class
  23. I would think it would mate
