From what ive heard, rebuilding the turbo isn't that hard, its getting it balanced thats the tricky bit. Something you cant do yourself. I could be wrong tho. I'd have a go on something like an RS turbo, where you can change the turbo in a few hours, but i wouldn't risk it on a zed being such a big job.

Cheers fellas. Im gettinh a hire car today, but they arn't picking my car up til tuesday to look at it. Thats a weeks hire before we start. Ive told them i took it to a bodyshop and said it was a write off. No wonder premiums are through the roof.

Was out in my Bmw, driving down the road when somebody waiting in a side road edged forward. BANG! He pulled out! It all happened so fast, but i could see him pulling out, just thought he hadn't looked, and would stop when he saw me. Good job i sweared as he got the side of my car and rubbed all the way down. If i hadn't, he would probably have caught the front of me and loads more damage! Nobody was hurt, so im not bothered, a car can be replaced.. He admits fault and im getting a hire car tomorrow. They are taking my car next tuesday to inspect. I assume they'll write it off. Its a 1997 328i sport. Needs a door, rear quarter, a sill, trims etc.. My dad bumped his car last week. Still driveable, 2003 Merc E320 CDI. Got the call today to say £4000 of damage and they are writting it off.. Who's next??

Why cant owning a zed be easy???

Ive been offered an e36 328i sport tourer for £800. Sooo much car for the money.. Think im getting an e46 tourer tho..

On my breaker, i dropped the engine out with the box on it on the subframe. Lifted the car up and dragged the engine on a pallet forward. Then unbolted the box. Would have thought putting it back in would be dificult..

I wondered this before, for the same reason. S'pose its best to get it out and do it all on the deck.
