  1. haha sweet, any cool things going on with these or is it all classified? Many pics please alan.
  2. Cheers! it is so good being able to stand near it while it idles without running away with burning eyes. I think i may have found the problem with my alternator too...i dont think my exciter coil is getting a 12v batt feed...duh I think ill put together a list of all my mods as i just seem to add bits without any pics or info on what ive done haha, no very informative.
  3. Cheers, Need to iron out a few things before it goes anywhere on the road but progress is being made.
  4. With regards to the air leak i had. It was quite a significant leak which was around where the equivalent of this engines lower plenum bolts to the head. That being sorted i had to play around with some fuel settings to get it to start so i can play with the idle. This engine doesn't have an idle control valve, i am setting the base idle of the end stop on the throttle body. As i said in the video it was slightly rich and there was quite a lot of condensation which cleared. The AFR was adjusted to a more suitable level. From here the next steps are - Fix the coolant leak i seemed to have gained - Determine whether my alternator is shot as im not getting a noticeable increase in voltage between battery and engine idling. - Fine tune my timing as base timing is set but for higher RPM i need to set a delay to compensate for system component delays. Then MOT. Cheers.
  5. Well today has been a success in some cases! Since the last video the following has happened. - The car produced copious amounts of smoke along with a fairly rough and high idle at around 1700rpm. - Kenlowe 14" heavy duty fan installed. It pushes a lot of air! - Coolant filled and bled - Some exhaust cans donated by Lee dent which i chopped it to fit my SWB (they are slightly divorced too). - Found a huge vacuum leak in the intake manifold which i remedied to now get to the point of the video soon to be linked below. Its all back together as shown below and is hopefully ready for an MOT. It isnt cleaned up yet as there is a a lot of tape marks on the bodywork where I protected it when ive been moving it around. Also yes the rear end is in primer as i welded up the tailgate to go for the smooth look.
  6. looking nice andy! as you mentioned it looks OEM.. Sweet work as usual.
  7. very nice car buddy! welcome
  8. just got that compression tester myself ;) lovely colour too.
  9. ah crap didnt even realize this was going on!
  10. I think it looks pretty awesome. But as others have said, the rest of your car doesn't have enough modifications to compliment it. The stock look you have going on is better imho.
  11. Sweet! How you finding the shortie in comparison to the lwb??
  12. Stick a grommet in as Andrew suggestes

  15. Do you have any idea on which cylinder is misbehaving? or is it a multiple cylinders? Is there anyone near you with a known working PTU?
  16. Tut tut. oh yeah i remember now, gold toilets or something.
  17. i was getting all emotional too :( no worries bud, ill wait for your abilities to pm to return. cheers!
  18. Yeah you can, but I'm using the stock exhaust manifold and wasn't willing to chop my lovely powder coated subframe so for now the bonnet has to suffer. I have another bonnet so once it's all functional I'll take measures to get a better fit. I'm not a fan of bonnet bulges but at the moment it's function over form. Luckily you can't see my array of Xmas jumpers I've been wearing all year round to work on my car haha!!
  19. Just a few pics of it currently as i haven't uploaded any in a while. A hole i have had to make for the Intake manifold.
  20. i bought a 94 shell and that has also sat for 5 years. Both sills were gone and my left suspension tower had to be cut out.
  21. woohoo nothing like some excitement! and a silver shortie. So what are your plans for this then? get the list started ;)
  22. Mmm SPL parts... they look chunky and reliable! keep the pics coming buddy.
