  1. I have started a separate thread for Bob's day at the Cadwell Park Time attack Round. Jaffa has already posted up his experience on his own thread. In contrast Bob n me had a pretty successful day all round. IMO In the first morning warm up he did a 1.55s lap . This improved to a finals best lap time of 1.45s in 2011 that would have won the club class RWD category. Not this time tho .... as many seasoned competitors had clearly upped their game (and power) over the winter, and the best RWD club driver posted a 1.40.5s lap!!!! the overall pro class winner posted a 1.27s lap in his Evo. (Gareth Lloyd) So... We went. We did warm up seesions.:thumbup1: Qualified.:thumbup1: Finished the finals.:thumbup1: Nothing broke. Nothing fell off. No damage from excursions etc. Slightly dissapointing........ was not finishing a little higher in the overall order. Very encouraging.... Several things... 1. We were "on the money " all day.2. We didnt look out of place. We learnt loads about the cars limits and a few of the tricks/techniques needed to be successful. A speed trap time of 129mph was as fast as the third placed RX7 of very experienced competitor Masood. Downsides.... Time Attack is VERY competitive and VERY expensive. Bob only applied for this one round(hence his classification of OHW. One Hit Wonder) Costs of entry, fuel and getting to the track and home approaching £1000:blink::surrender: Will we do it again....Probably not this year:huh: So in summary.... a great day out. I didnt see anyone else there from this forum but then again I didnt expect to. Whats next??? TOTB at Elvington. Im already planning ahead on how we can do better than last year. Running on six cylinders rather than five has got to help:rockon: Car doesnt need anything doing before TOTB which in some part is due to Bob's within limits driving skills and also to Dan Turner at Advanced Motorsprt Engineering for his continued engineering and preparation skills. As usual I would like to thank Bob for his usual generosity that alows me a day out at trackside with food n drinks thrown in all for free. I like to thinkI bring something of value to these days out even if its only to lug my trolley jack around and pour petrol in the car! :clown: (see pic) Anyway I took a few pics of what we were up to and then some of other stuff that interested me in between sessions... Enjoy BTW I NEED that 6R4 METRO:drool:

  4. Im not surprised they only made four......... Nobody bought them:rofl::rofl:
  5. Wherever you advertize in the 21st century you will be plagued by time wasters . Its part of the culture now. i have current experience to back this up....... after four weeks of failing to come and view, not sending the cheque they promised and said they had a receipt for!! Then finally delaying it further with a "bank draft" that never happened the lying git then owned up to having "money issues" IE he hadnt got any!!!! I must of had 15 phone calls from his missus saying they were buying it.
  6. If I were you I would find a new "Specialist"....  Meantime just use a bolt. Its one of the most common Nissan/Jap size bolts. I used a short M10 20 set screw.
  7. OHHHHH yes it is. top is DEFFO M10 1.25 thread. As I have a M10 1.25 set screw in mine. I just used a little PTFE tape to make 100 sure of a pressure tight seal. I cant tell you about the bottom one as my rad is full of green stuff:w00t: but Im guessing its the same.
  8. Or even the genuine article:wink:
  9. yes I agree, your car probably has lots of interesting stuff on it. I was only poking a little fun at you with my "Nismo" badge advert. The great mystery of many imports is just exactly what they are , whats been done and by who!!! a classic example was my original red Slicktop which I discovered had a a proper "Central 20" Japanese modified ECU on it. Not mentioned in the "for sale " advert so clearly not noticed by any previous owners
  10. Ultimately in any service orientated venture the most important measure of success or otherwise will be your service. Selling on the internet is about building up a client base by offering good products at the right price and backed up by first class service. The added bonus for yourself is the opportunity through meets n shows to get a face to face presence too. What you are called is important but not as important as the above. My short and successful venture on here had a very mundane name but was very successful. Similarly by 25years as a high st retail/proffessional business had only a very mundane and simple trading name. So what Im saying is ... JFDI. Seize the moment.
  11. You can turn any Auto (sic) 300ZX into a special Nismo lts edition...........................http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-NISMO-Badge-S13-S14-R34-PULSAR-SKYLINE-350Z-GTR-/250626688960?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a5a83c7c0 :clap::clap:
  12. there speaks the cool calm voice of reason. with experience to back up his opinion.. Faulty NA engine..... unplug everything. Label each item/connection.....remove engine..... Buy replacement engine... fit... reconnect as per labels... SIMPLES.... and cost effective.
  13. Im sensing that you are not a big fan of these then???:innocent:
  14. Sure was. But rarity doesnt automatically mean its desirable. For example the Austin Maxi is rare nowadays but its still an undesirable disaster today..... just like when it was new.
  15. Yep. But you have to park with joe public.
  16. As always Dave the problem lies with the operator of the air gun not the gun itself. IF they are set properly then they can save a tyre fitter a lot of time. my local independent tyre fitter uses an air gun all the time but its set lower than the correct torque setting and he then finishes them of by hand with a torque wrench.
  17. No 300ZX will "smash" the handling course.. Especilly a 2+2. They are too big and heavy. The handling course is very much about driving skills too.
  18. Guys ... this thread is over 6 months old.... maybe a little bit late for useful suggestions:whistling:
  19. So now we are .....READY TO ATTACK Bob's car left my place today on its way back to Advanced Motorsport at Silverstone. I have cleaned and polished it. Fitted new Ferodo DS3000 rear pads and new discs. Fitted a rad cowl to the Koyo. ( it was in one piece when I bought it from Jeff but it cracked during fitting.. hence the repair. LOL!) The Michelin Pilot sports tyres are on the car as the "wet race" option and Bob was very pleased with them in the damp at Cadwell. Dan at Advanced Motorsport is getting some new Toyo 888s which are the "dry race" option. Once the transponder is installed the car is "good to go" Look out Cadwell Park!! I have no idea how competitive James(Jaffa ) and Bob will be under race conditions. What I do know is the competition/comparison between the two slicktops will be fascinating. Who do you fancy to come out tops?????? Here are a few bits n pices on the cars/drivers. Jaffa... younger than Bob but less experienced on track. Has lighter more extreme stripped/ lightened/caged car. Has wider wheel/tyre combo front and rear. Car not yet tested on track in final form. I sat in with James 2 years ago at Castle Combe. Itwas pretty quick but needed the handling tweeked(my opinion) Bob. mature owner with a lifetimes experience of fast cars and bikes(probably fast women too!!) Car is fully trimmed inside with no lightweight panels. Has been extensively track tested over the past year. I have spent loads of time in the passenger seat.. Bob is a calm, committed driver. Power????? Well headline figures dont mean anything on their own. power to weight ratio is more useful and I suspect Jaffa has the edge??? Ultimately the figures dont mean a thing when the lights go out. Its all down to how brave you are in close proximity to other hot lappers. Remember one hot lap is all it takes:tt2: I dont have a favorite as both drivers are friends Im just itching to get there.... Few pics
  20. Short curved pieces tig welded togerther usually indicate a custom build.
  21. all the couriers collect customs charges on behalf of HMRC. These charges always include VAT at 20% and sometimes import duty too. In addition they charge a handling fee. Like Jimmer and others I regularly bring stuff in from the US. Here is a recent example to show you how it works....... Goods were $80 Shipping was $47.95 with USPS Flat rate box. Total $127.95 Parcel Farce converted that in to £80 approx and charged £16.21 in VAT . No import duty. But £8 clearance/handling fee. Total £24.21. So my item cost me £104 approx . HTH.
  22. True... but... Fedex are more expensive. Things like the USPS flat rate boxes are really good value. The downside as we all know is that Customs and their go slow buddies Parcel Farce take delight in going slow with the whole process.
  23. Yep me too. Didnt know anyting about it. I have seen this car... It was veryvery nice. As alrady said.. no need to say goodbye. Plenty on here dont have a Zed anymore but still contribute to a good forum/club.
  24. Mediocrity at its worst.
