  1. So maybe I have just turned the corner:huh:
  2. There is a time in most projects when you think "I should never have started this" i think I was at that point yesterday as I stripped out the dash area to remove all the heater stuff. LOl! What a mess. Then today with a couple more hours of effort I finally got all the sound deadening out and the floors ready for painting. A couple of nice little trinkets turned up also to add to the "things to fit" list.
  3. Always good to read all the thread!! :kiss: well you can please some of the people some of.............etc etc:biggrin:
  4. Polycarb window set to be fitted! Its pretty satisfying although it always involves days and days of tedious work before we gat to the goodies. Its just fortunate that my level of attention to detail and my vision of the end product is pretty much what Bob wants. We have never fallen out over anything since I fetched the original car from Bradford.
  5. After a visit from Bob I have the final height etc on the seat mount so today I welded it up and painted it. i have also had an initial fit of the Sard wing. With seat and wing in place I have now got a stem length for the rear view mirror sorted. The seat and frame has taken some time to get done but it needs to be right first time as there wont be a second chance if it all goes pear shaped!! Enjoy the pics and have a private snigger if you like over the wing.
  6. There is a market now and there will be a market in the future for good clean unmolested cars and cars with good quality upgrades from reputable companies. I think we are a few years away yet. There is still a lot of tat about that depresses the overall market.
  7. Thats because it is a prototype car. GTP.... GT Prototype
  8. Its always good to read a whole thread.....................
  9. UK production stopped MANY years ago. Imports have now dropped to a tiny trickle. Rust is getting to be a major issue causing many to be scrapped. People crash them with monotonous regularity. They are fairly expensive to run and maintain so major repairs mean more get broken. So numbers will certainly be falling.
  10. Rare for this forum.........:whistling:. but good to see.
  11. Or you could undo it properly so it can be re used!!:smartass:
  12. Voddy knew who that was as well:yes:
  13. Early next week mate. Busy this weekend Sliders???? Not in a race/track car.:no: The purpose of Bob coming this weekend is to finalise the seating position before I weld it up. there will still be fore and aft adjustment by unbolting the seat but this wont be neccessary once I have got him sat in his ideal position.. The only other people doing very limited driving will be "testing" and will need to make do as is. Likewise the passenger. fixed and with a custom footrest/brace. No choice. other than unbolting it . Strangely it will be bolted in a position that suits me:thumbup1::thumbup1: :lol: Same applies Paul . One day next week if you finish early will be good. Agreed. i will be bolting the pass seat thru the floor behind the crossmember BUT with suitable plates welded in. there are two advantages in Bobs track car bearing in mind the passengers are a secondary consideration. The seat will sit well back and fairly low. Good for centre of gravity and for driver vision. Less metal/weight needed . It will all be 100% proper since I am one of the few occupants of the pass seat:biggrin:
  14. I have the floor mounted one. 45L. £100 + vat. Bear in mind the cost of fluid on top. dont buy the water based stuff its crap. IMO. Solvent based one much better. Around £50 for 25L but not from Machine Mart. essential for the kind of work I do. Maybe not for a one off job tho
  15. there is no way of bolting a pair of side mounts direct to the floor on the drivers side and ending up with a seat in the correct position. Fact. I am currently fitting a similar bucket side mount seat to Bobgenies slicktop. I have worked out what needs doing. Bob is coming this weekend for a final fitting/test session If you can wait a few days you will see the result. i might even have a kit to fit one available. Pressure of work means it will be early next week before I can do anything about it.
  16. And so... after a week in Fuengirola sitting in the sun plus a day playing at Santa Pod its time to get on with this slicktop. The process of removing sound deadening. De bracketing and lightening goes on... and on..... However the hatchback area was completed yeasterday so I decided to take advantage of the mildish weather and get some paint on(with some extra heat required) Its not very exciting and the pics are'nt either but its moving on....... I think:whistling: When Im done the whole interior will be clean fresh white with no ugly brackets etc sticking up to catch on. Pics....................................
  17. No you cant. cos that would make the car appear newer than it is which the DVLA rules wont allow. 92 manufacture... thats the youngest plate you can put on it. You can make it look older ... thats Ok or use an Irish "dateless plate" like mine.
  18. Thanks Noz for posting the figures. i wanted to have them to highlight to members on here just what a top set of numbers looks like. I know having an auto helps with consistency but none the less it shows what a skilled driver can achieve. For those of you who are not sure what Im on about ... forget the absolute figures and concentrate on the variation(or lack of it) between the four runs. 60ft. ET and terminal . No matter where you look the closeness of the figures is top notch. You should try some bracket eliminator racing next season. Stunning.
  19. Like the high speed spin Bob n me had at Silverstone it was all over in a very few seconds so its no big deal really. Afterwards the Dodge driver and me had a bit of a laugh about it all. The reality is the drag strip and the race circuit are much safer than the M1. Incidents involving injury are rare and when they do occur the emergency teams are on the case in seconds . Contrast that to motorway incidents where cars burn and people lie unconcious for ages while emergency services battle their way thru traffic to reach the scene. The whole title of this thread needs to be taken with a pinch of salt really.:smartass: But the fun is over now for this season. There are weeks of work planned for my car and Bobs too. Bob just seems to have got his in front of mine in the workshop queue.:taz:
  20. Thats just the kinda news I like to hear.:winkiss: I would love it for dave to get back into his slickie.:cool3: Or someone else to join in would be good too. the Z club Drag challenge looks like its alll going to be bracket eliminator style next year which just isnt my thing at all.:sad: Some side by side action against Dave(or any other NA) would be brilliant. First to cross the line wins stylee! 2013.... BRING IT ON!
  21. Im fine Bri. It was over so fast there wasnt time to worry about it!! Yep Chungs 14.56 and my 14 .57 will carry over to 2013 as the fastest NAs recorded. This late in the year I was never going to do a 14.5 anything. Track too cold so traction poor. humidity too high and atmospheric pressure just not quite where it was needed. So its out with the engine over winter and in with the new one. Im still a bit lacking in consistency too. i had better get a move on in improving that before I get any older or it will be too late.:whistling:
  22. Todays action at Santa Pod dint get going till around 11.00am due to misty/foggy conditions and a very wet track. When we got going i was lined up against and old school dodge (Dart??) with a big V8 installed. Car was a mid 12s contender so as you would imagine I was some distance behind him soon after launch!! However at around the 1000ft mark his whole firbre glass front end flew up and over the car skywards before heading to the centre of the track. I reckon he was doing nearly a ton when it happened. i rapidly dived to my left and lifted off the gas before passing the front end now lying slap bang between the two lanes. No damage to the car or driver and my only problem was elevated heart rate and raised blood pressure. Phew!!! Too close for comfort!!! Later on I managed to get a decent 14.87 run posted with a pleasing terminal(for me) of 95.25mph. 60ft time of 2.26 was poor due to very little grip on a cold track even with the Mickey Ts warmed up. Even those with full drag slicks were having difficultity today. Anyway... no more excuses I was pleased overall with the day as a finale to my short season. Noz was running his black TT as well today and hopefully he will post up his full 4 run sheet so you can all see "Mr Consistant" in his full glory.:winkiss: Rusty sills was also there spectating and next season Im gonna persuade him to have a run up the black stuff.:whistling: also running was my Z club buddy Paul(Z32 TT auto) in the Z Club drag challenge along with a few old school 240Zs some of whom are running turbos and Nos. No pics as I was busy!
