  1. The weather for Wigan at the moment looks good enough to make a trip north to Wigan this saturday to have a play at Three Sisters . The track is so small and tight that it doesnt really suit my 300Zx but that doesnt stop me having fun. Thats what I built the car for in the first place.:biggrin:
  2. I simply dont care.
  3. The fun for me is High speed lapping till you get tired or until the car/brakes/tyres call "enough" You cant do that at Curbough as far as I know. Pity as it is not too far away from me. I am "thinking" about the Javelin Sprint series for next year, but not in my slicktop. Im also building an MG ZR 3 door 160 which could be good in the lower spec 1600 to 1800 class that Javelin have.
  4. My first trackday at Blyton park went off without incident. A nice day out. The day had some surprises lined up.. 1. I only found out the night before that it runs Anti clockwise!! 2 On arrival there were very low numbers taking part. Good for me as a "new to track" driver. 3. In the briefing I discovered that we are using two different layouts morning and afternoon. So two layouts to learn. Impressions... It is in a fairly remote rural location in Lincs. The staff/organizers are all friendly and helpful. Facilities are simple but adequate. briefing room. Small cafe. Toilets. Plenty of pits space on concrete. Highlights.... low numbers on track. only six at a time. As much time on track as anyone could possibly want. Surface is good and quite grippy. Very safe . Lots of concrete surafce run off areas before you get on the dirt. No armco or fixed walls/banks to hit.. Inner circuit layout is quite tight and technical and is hard work in my Nissan. Outer circuit which we did after lunch is much faster and less technical. Summary. good day out. Cheap at £115. I drove as many laps as I could manage. I will return.
  5. The reverse situation applies to me with Brands Hatch. Its 165 miles from home. Its not physically possible to drive there do a trackday and drive home in a day.
  6. I have just had confirmation that I have a place on this event. As its my first visit I had better put a novice cross on the back of the car! LOL!! The weather forecast looks OK at the moment. £115 for all day open pit lane is good value IMO. Of course its a Monday and an old airfield converted to track use so that keeps the price down. Looking at an in car video it seems fairly straightforward(Outer Circuit). Its flat so sighting is straightforward and there is plenty of safe run off area. What could possibly go wrong?:innocent:
  7. Cheers Bob. I have just paid for the day tonite. I saw from the incar footage on Trackdays website that it wasnt very wide.:scared: Like you say tho Im used to very narrow at Three Sisters.:thumbup1:
  8. And thats understandable.given that you usually have to turn up to sign on at 8.00am. The reverse rule applies to me for Bedford.....its a bit too far south:biggrin: Something to bear in mind perhaps for Bedford.....
  9. That would be great. I will be reporting back on my first airfield experience after I have been to Blyton.
  10. Check out the link in my first post . There are car and bike track videos. As an "intermediate" level track driver it looks fairly straightforward.....ish:lol:
  11. It's interesting to see how the club has gravitated towards the "classic car" world. I did some of that "classic car show" stuff with my 240Z back in the day.Including organize club stands for the Z club at the NEC. All good fun and i enjoyed it. I dont want to return to that scene tho. So track day fun is where Im at as driving quickly on the public roads is now difficult and dangerous in a license losing way.
  12. Looking to book Blyton Park on 10th Sep. I have not been before but it looks fairly straightforward. There are two configurations. The Outer track is less technical and is the one on the proposed day.
  13. Description from Trackdays co.uk Im looking at Monday 10th Sep. £115 all day open pit lane.
  14. MOT pass today. Time to get some more track sessions booked:thumbup1:
  15. Get the garage who is doing the MOT to drive it on their trade insurance.
  16. Has anyone driven round Blyton Park on a trackday??? https://www.trackdays.co.uk/tracks/blyton-park/ Any comments?? Positive or negative.
  17. On the contrary. Absolute bargain. Its an epic item. IMO of course. Only Nissan and Stillen have urethane items available. If I didnt already have the diffuser I would have bought it . Its in Nottingham too.
  18. MOT time this Saturday so new discs fitted.
  19. There are not a lot of people in the UK running standalone management on 300ZXs. I do. Here is what I use. I run an Emerald ECU. This was installed for me by John Dixon. Its not plug n play. I have a wide band lambda sensor with a controller and an AFR gauge fitted. John advised that the standard O2 sensor location is too close to the engine so I have a boss welded on a decat pipe to take it. Mine is all Tech Edge brand as that was John's preference. obviously I dont run a MAF any more as the fully mapped ECU now controls the engine. I have an air inlet temp sensor fitted in a stripped out MAF body. The ECU also reads std water temp from the original Nissan sender unit. Thats it. It works I like it. It has its upsides:thumbup1: and its downsides. Lots of people will have a variety of opinions on the whole standalone route. Some of whom wont even have one fitted.:whistling:
  20. Another dry evening session at Donington. I am gaining in confidence round the track and starting to really enjoy the thrill. Points to note.... Lots of cars on track. Lots of very powerful and FAST cars.:scared: I will let the pictures do the talking...................
  21. You said it....... i just thought it. And lots of owners will follow suit. it makes me feel quite inadequate looking at mine:whistling:
  22. Cheers Joel. I really like the CE28...shame I have to give them back. I cant believe how light they are for a 10" wheel.
