Putting Urethane bushes in Rear subframe?
As above, I.m attempting to put the four large Urethane bushes in the rear subframe. I have the bright red versions which came as part of a huge two card collection of bushes. Main problem is the instructions were missing(dont ask!!) So any links, help would be appreciated or a copy of the instructions would be better. Basically I dont know how much of the old bushes to remove???? And how you actually do it. Anyone??? Please. Oh I know you need a press to put the new ones in... someone else is doing that for me.

Americans call it bondo..
Glass fibre reinforced Bondo over here is P38?? I think. Known generally in the bodywork game as "fillagap" or "liquid chassis"(illegal use). Basically is flexible resin with fibreglass strands mixed in. Chopped strand mat is notoriously difficult to work with. Easier to use woven material and just add more layers.

Rear Quarter Panel Replacement
Not mental at all. As I said in an email to you the other day I have just cut a perfectly good shell in to pieces and thrown it away. I only wanted a passenger sill and floor cut myself. Just offer to take someones shell away after they have finished stripping it. Then using a 9" angle cutter chop out wot u need. Then its a case of several hours with the spot weld drill. Drilling out weld spots. Replace damaged area with material from donor. Re-weld the spots back in and add a few short runs for extra strength. Im just sorry I didnt know about your problem till it was too late. BTW... your tank is now on the way.

You can by a support bar from Machine Mart. Manta V8 had one to help with fitting the v8.

"Help Dad, Ive broken down!"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! You cant. Illegal. Thanks for the offer tho stevie. Its back home now. Guess I need a Haynes manual on the Metro(Rover 100) now!!
-
"Help Dad, Ive broken down!"
Yep I reckon the first thing is remove the head. I have a "Rover breaker" nearby so might get away with another head?? May of course be an economic write off. Shame as it is/was a really nice little car. Late model Ascot top spec 97 on the R. I know it wont appeal to the average 300 owner but Leanne really liked it and is now bitterly disappointed that it is fecked.

"Help Dad, Ive broken down!"
Oh yes, Dad will be shelling out whatever happens. This is the second "incident in less than a year" Money however just doesnt appear like magic to buy cars.
-
"Help Dad, Ive broken down!"
Yep quietly minding my own business this afternoon when the phone rings. "Its me, Ive broken down on the M1. The engine made a noise then stopped working" Fortunately No1 daughter was only 20 miles away, so off I trundle in the Pug estate to find her. By the time I arrive a friendly and efficient new "Highways Officer " is already on the scene and has pushed the car tight in on the hard shoulder. Soon asI arrive he heads off as I assure him Leanne has RAC cover and we will get the car removed asap. A quick look under the bonnet initially reveals nowt amiss, but turning the ignition makes a horrible noise. Second look under the bonnet reveals the cam belt tensioner lying on the engine mount! having just punched its way thru the cam cover! So one ded Metro. Rac truck arrives within half an hour and tows the car to the nearby service area. Once again a helpful and efficient guy. RAC wont take it further as she only has "Roadside Assist" not "Home recovery". SOOOOOooo Ill be getting a trailer hired tomorrow and picking it up. How many valves do ya reckon ave gone??? And pistons??? them tooo?? Grrrr Kidz! who would ave em!
