  1. Sent you a PM, but my name's not on the list. ;)
  2. Dammit! Missed this thread. Runs off to write a PM...................
  3. I was in the grey one heading for Rosyth. (Like you'd have seen another this morning!)
  4. So far as I know it's a straight swap. Are you swapping the speedo itself or the complete binnacle? There is a difference I think between S1 and S2 binnacles, but I can't say if the speedo units themselves are the same between them. I bought a set of UK clocks and they were screwed. Would hate to think you've had three sets. Check the PCB for dry joints though, I would say it's a good start.
  5. Are you changing the dials, speedo itself or are you using a converter 'chip'? I've just bought a converter but haven't fitted it yet. My speedo goes to sleep regularly and it's something I'll address when I take the binnacle out. Apparently they're infamous for dry joints on the back of the PCB so it's out with the soldering iron. Maybe that's what's wrong with yours.
  6. HB Jim and thanks for all your help with the bits and bobs recently!! :) Good luck with the impending arrival too! It'll be the best thing you've ever done, but be prepared to have the buggy(s) take a back seat for a while hmmmkay? ;)
  7. Thought that'd be the case. Thanks for confirming it!! ;) Just need to add, as a 'noob', I'm fairly new to the whole Japanese/turbo'd/tuning thing, (I was, and still am to a certain degree, into older German N/A stuff. Carltons/Senators/Monzas etc.), and I'm very grateful for the constructive guidance and helpful advice I've found here. Keep up the good work guys and I look forward to meeting some of the Scottish contingent at Knockhill on the 15th May. (BTW, my buggy ain't exactly mint if you know what I mean!!)
  8. Thanks for that Mikey! Hmmmkay! So would it need any extra hardware like BOVs, (already got a custom exhaust and am about to fit an aftermarket air cleaner. Cheers Big Jim!! ) or can I expect immediate performance gains by just plugging one of these bad boys in? Apologies for the threadjack!!
  9. So can these be used with a standard ECU with a view to upgrading later? How easy are they to fit?
  10. Are the R33 GTS brakes an improvement, or is it not worth the bother?
  11. Likin' them both, although I think I'd sway towards the chrome ones. Where'd you get them?
  12. Ta mate, text message sent.
  13. IMO, if the core's loose, it'll be restricting flow more than if it were sound. You should establish the reg' date of your car to find out if it legally requires a cat to be fitted. If not it opens up your options a bit, but eBay's full of downpipes for sale with cats attached to them if you didn't want to replace the whole exhaust.
  14. I was just about to post a similar thread myself as the custom back box has taken it's own life so I figure I'll treat the ol' rocketship to a full new custom system. The question I have is this. As my car's an '89 it doesn't need cats and I'm considering 'breathing' on it a bit in the near future, I need to know if there's any pitfalls or indeed benefits to removing the cats. TIA.
  15. Oil was changed about 6 months ago. Lucky if the car's done 3k since then. I noticed that when Jeff changed the oil it was really thick compared to the new stuff, so I guessed they'd used an additive or thicker oil to cover it up and when he ran it up it started ticking but shut up shortly after. I also changed it again about a month after to get the last of the crap out. Wynns you say? Wee trip to the motor factors is called for I think. Thank you.
  16. My Zed had been stood for a bit awaiting a top radiator hose, so I fitted it this evening and ran her up. Now there's a distinct but not obtrusive tappet noise. What do you reckon, would an oil change help or should I be thinking about slightly thicker oil or an additive to take away the ticking in the short term? TIA!
  17. Can I come? I live in Dunfermline so it'd be churlish not to wouldn't it? If I can come along, add me to the list and tell me who to speak to about arrangements and how to pay for the ticket and I'll look forward to seeing you there!
  18. Haha! Glad you asked this as I've just done the same thing. Day out at Knockhill you say?!?!?
  19. Had the car at at Zedworld a wee while ago for cambelt and some other odds and ends and Jeff reckoned it was in fairly good shape. I'll get in touch with them. Thanks for the guidance guys.
  20. Probably lining myself up for a slating here but I was hoping to 'pep up' my Zed a bit. Not looking for gazillions of extra nags, just a few so how would you rate these? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290543025893&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  21. You were heading south exiting a roundabout I was entering it heading north. I only caught a glimpse of you as I looked right to enter the roundabout so you might not have seen me in my grey LWB.
  22. More often than not when it's cold. Whassit mean then? TIA
