  1. OK, got the boost jet idea. I'll check to see if it's had any fitted and progress from there. So if it is as I suspect totally standard, what y'all think should be my next step(s)? A) Boost controller. B) Boost gauge. C) New recirc's. D) BOVs. E) All of the above. Ta muchly. ;)
  2. I would doubt it very much TBH. Are boost jets stock? Where would they be and what do they look like? I can't say it runs out of puff as such although I haven't tried it on my private runway yet! LOL The guage goes pretty much straight from 'goose honk' at just above ambient pressure to just below 7 and will stay there for as long as I have my foot on the throttle. I also know the car's not slow either having had 'run ins' with some fairly daunting metal of late.
  3. So could I get rid of the recirc's for some BOVs or do I not know what I'm talking about here?
  4. Sorry, I had meant to say it's a JDM car.
  5. Yeah, VodkaShots did advise that I should look for a good set of recircs, (Having looked at the plumbing diagram on the thread I'm not sure how it affects it, but I 'ent no expert!), so maybe I should sort that out in the first place. I must confess to not seeking balls out power, but it is addictive and am thinking on installing a boost controller but I guess I'd better 'fix' it first huh? Ironically, the more of an acceleration hit you get, the shorter it lasts!! LOL But I do like that hefty kick in the small of your back!! (And I thought my N/A Supra was fast!!)
  6. Since being placated by being told that my CHG wasn't blown and my engine was 'as strong as an ox', I celebrated by fitting a MINES ecu. (Cheers Big_Jim) Now, there's no question that it's made a remarkable difference to the car along with the decated exhaust and cone filter, but I'm not convinced I'm getting the best out of my turbos. It's worth noting that otherwise the engine is, (AFAIK), stock. The most boost I get, (according to the stock guage), is one notch under the '7', but I'm sure before, (not sure before what TBH), it would go all the way to '7'. So, would the ECU have, (for some ridiculous reason), reduced the boost or should I be looking at something else? Incidentally, I do get the 'goose honk', which I think is kind'a cool when accompanied by the newly introduced snuffling, snorting and over-run poppage I get now, but I'd rather the whole thing was running properly at the expense of the soundtrack. So my questions are............. A) Is that expected boost level? B) If not what should I be looking at to remedy it? C) Is it time to invest in a boost controller? As usual, thanks in advance! ;)
  7. Got a shock when I couldn't see my PMs then realised I'd had my Zed for a year so my membership had likely expired. Surprisingly simple!
  8. If you're only visiting for a day, (you need much longer BTW!), go M6->M74->A7(orA702)->Forth Bridge(A90)->M90->A9. Stay night in Inverness. Then A82 through Fort William, (at this point I'd recommend a drive up to Mallaig, but I don't think you've got time), Glencoe and Crainlarich and follow the road through Glasgow and take signs for the M74/Carlisle. I did from the FRB all the way round and back in about 8 hours one night 'cos I was bored so an overnight is well within the realms of doability. HTH
  9. Can't remember if I chose a 'recurring' membership or not. Anyone care to enlighten me> (If you're in any doubt, I would like to subscribe again!! Hmmkaythxbai! ;) )
  10. Ouch! I mean really, OUCH! I know it all makes sense really and I understand how stuff like this comes together, but this makes me feel like I'm driving a gigantic liability! I might just have to drive a little more sedately tomorrow morning for fear of breaking one of the butterfly wing dust diagphrams or something*! (*Or not! :) )
  11. I get this. I kind'a like it actually. It started happening when I replaced my exhaust for a decatted one and replaced my airbox with a cone filter. So am I to understand that it's a symptom of failing tubs?
  12. Aye, I saw a black one the other day which seemed local as I followed it out of the town centre up the DC then he peeled off before the motorway so I figured he was local. Strange if someone has so many he doesn't use the forum.
  13. Hmmm! Whatdya noze? Who could it have been then? Very clean car it was. In a way I'm kind'a glad whoever it was didn't spot me as my car's embarrasingly dirty at the moment. I really should wash it.
  14. Spotted at Morrisons roundabout in Livingston at about 8am this morning. You were pulling up to the roundabout as I was exiting onto the road you were coming off, (Charlesfield Road), as you pulled up at the lights. I flashed and beeped, but I don't think you saw me.
  15. I do 60 miles a day 5 days a week from Fife to Livingston and the conditions of the commute are variable to say the least. I think I use about three gallons a day, but a fair proportion of that is sat in queues and I am by no means gentle when the roads clear. So I guess that's around 20 MPG which I think is acceptable for the circumstances. Compare that to when I worked in Dorking and I used a gallon each way on the 8 mile commute because I crawled in traffic for about 95% of it. Overall, my TT has never actually thrown its toys out proper but it niggles me on a regular basis. For instance, recently I thought the CHG had blown and it turned out to be nothing more than a blocked expansion tank hose. Taking the roof off on a drive home from work especially on a sunny Friday like this is absolute bliss and believe it or not, because you're driving a quite rare car, (I still get asked quite regularly what it is.), people are quite courteous. I can't wait for 5pm to come around!! :)
  16. I'll have the spoiler in the unlikely event that Mikey doesn't take it. (Is there an echo in here?)
  17. ANPR won't bother you, but an excitable traffic warden or Police Officer might nab you. It is technically an offence not to display a tax disk whether you have a valid tax disk or not.
  18. At last! For once the telephony's not getting blamed! I might just take a screen shot of this and post it up in the office!! :)
  19. So there's no harm in leaving it as it is until I get round to removing it completely. Cheers VS.
  20. Had the decats I bought off Big_Jim fitted yesterday and the mechanic said there were smaller pipes on the catted pipes he took off but none on the decats. I assume they're to vent the recirc' valves. Do I need to do anything with them or is it ok to let them vent to atmosphere?
  21. You weren't hanging about going past Lauder/Carnegie College. Was in a Sharan so didn't flash. :(
  22. Oh! T'was just because I thought the VG30xx engines were developed specifically for the Z32. Every day's a school day huh? Quite like that Leopard though. It's quite funky.
  23. Check it out............. http://www.retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=FSW&thread=104542&page=1#1335666
