just seen these on the mighty bay; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-300ZX-BX-STYLE-FRONT-LIP-SPLITTER-BUMPER-bodykit-body-kit-/350508562792?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D4381736259405314155 nicely done dave, i like these and its been needed for a while. obviously thats janus's old car and marty has changed the front bumber now so has anyone got one fitted to a tt yet? be nice to see some more pics.
-
Hell Yes!
i wish the tt's sounded as good as the na's. the 350 sounds pretty nice on the overrun. those turbos dont half mask the over rev, does decatting help improve that?

Soot deposits
ive not washed mine for er a while :/ and there is a definate film across the rear bumper etc, tbh the cars are mapped to run rich on boost in any event, so a little bit of build up unless you never boost is normal. also its a 20 year old engine so some oil etc is gonna seap by now and again, carbination will fall off blah blah blah, unless its actually smoking or the back or the car is black with soot aftera few miles i wouldnt worry too much.

Oil & Strange Sound
shine a torch up there either the rocker covers have gone VERY common, or it could be a oil feed line from the turbo. also worth checking your power seering fluid level. a littl eoil can go along way...... i have have the same issue and im pretty certain without pulling the block i will be chasing it around forever. if you can clena it all off then get it running see where it comes from...

wats the difference
i dont think the front steering rack is much different, all the extra gubbins the extra impellor and lline on the pump the extra take offs on the pas pot etc are all related to the hicas. the front rack you simply have a high pressure feed and low pressure return. both about 10mm internal diameter, and a 22mm odd i/d main feed pipe from the res to the pump.

Zed SORNED - MIG Welder suggestions?
i dont know how confident you guys are going to be but it may be worth using a spot welder just to tack things inplace when your doing the inner sill etc, take alot of the hap hazard outta things, and give syou a solid base which you can then get the mig into.

Engine transplant
yeah i agree it doesnt make much sense in the real world, and i suppose in reality if your stripping and track prepping properly they you can always have a "little" fiddle with weight distribution. either by removing or adding ballast.
-
Smoking in Cars?
i agree here, but if laws where about make life easier safer common sense etc we wouldnt have half the ones we do. they bang on about road safety give you all the "stats" but the fact remains we have some of the safest roads in the world, the main cause for accidents because thats what they are no one sets out to crash, the cause of that accident is opene ended. however the main cause of accidents full stop, motor or otherwise is not thinking properly. common sense says trying to go round a bend at full whack in the wet is a stupid idea, common sense says driving along with something onfire in your hand is a stupid idea, but common sense is what we all lack most of the time. and tahst fine but its other poeple that it impacts on. common sense says that climbing a ladder with hands full of paint and paintbrushes not secured is a silly idea but we all do it, difference is though you cant issue a ticket for that. they will tax and ticket you for whatever they can reguardless of the reaity of the risk. its all about money.

number plate advice
right my understanding of it as follows you can if the vechile doesnt have provision for a standard sized uk plate and wasnt designed for the uk market. you could always send the dvla a letter, chap i know has a lette in his glove box that esentially says hes allowed it, as an officer ripped it off and it all got rtaher messy. they ended up appolgising and paying for some new sticky pads. anyways since the zed was realised here you probally wint get away with it unless its a 99 spec which wasnt realised here and has a number plate mount too small for a full uk plate. you can but give dvla a call if they do give you permission let us all have a photocopy i hate my front plate.

grrrrr help? alternator fubared now?
Right thanks chaps... All sorted poped in the alternator from gaz(hellraiser)and fired up... 14.1v now :) I went through a few connections aswel. Pulled the old one apart seems the two sprung blocks at the back where worn and no longer touching the shaft.

Is this safe?
im no engin ebuilder but heres the thing. if you spend all that time effort and cash getting it up and running it runs and works for x amount of miles. when it does go pop cos youve not done this or that, your gonna spend the next six months kicking yourself why you didnt do it properly first time round. do it properly once and you might find it heavy on tthe pocket do it half arsed twice or even three times and your gonna end up worse off. and seriously cheesed off and depressed. trust me ive been down this road myself i ended up selling the whole cra out of frustration. silly decision but id had enough. i intend to not make that mistake with the zed.
