Im getting uk clocks fitted to my import later this week.

Paying for them to be done as the plugs are all different so getting them all soldered on..

 

Before I do, is there any way or changing the mileage reading on the new clocks to reflect the cars true mileage??

Yeah just take the motor off the odometer and turn it to your hearts content. It's not really a sensitive topic, any dodgy ******* wanting to clock a car will know how to do it anyway, and there is an openly available tutorial online of how to do this.

Have a look through my threads mate as I did the exact same thing a few months ago. If you are doing a straight conversion from KM to MPH and not changing anything there is NOTHING illegal with it.

What's the difference between the S2 and S4 clocks though. I was informed that it was not possible to do this on later models without damaging the units themselves?

You could take each dial out from your origional unit and put them into the UK housing and it will work perfectly with no need to solder new plugs, as for changing the mileage its very simple if you look at it once taken apart.

once you have the clocks out you can literally unscrew your old milometer and pop it into your new clocks. its literally a few screws.

I have changed a few sets of clocks over and found that when you do that the car speed reads in MPH but if you use the origional milometre it will still go up in Kilometres so you would need to use the UK milometre and adjust it to read the correct mileage.

hmmm... not one suggestion to go with the lower of the two.... quite dissapointing ;)

My own personal preference would be to just use the UK milometre without changing it, this is based on the fact that once you change them the numbers never line up 100%, most people would not noticed but someone in the know would be able to tell its been tampered with, also these cars are all getting on in years and not many imports have guarenteed mileage on arriving anyway so who knows what it might actually be.

Just a 'hi' to Leo really. yes theywhoever they may be, say you will damage your clocks if you erhum.. play with them. theyrefer to the spring that holds the numbers inline. thats it. just this little spring. heard this so much for so many years.
