Auto Gearbox, Is It Dead????
Thanks for clarifying jeff seems I was miss informed. Still at least the rest of my advice about the strainer and the fluid was very similar to your own answer. Got something right.

I certainly wouldn't pay to rebuild an auto, so much cheaper to go manual. £3-400 for the kit, new clutch would be a good idea, all depends on what's about it can be done relatively cheaply. Thank you for you consideration in breaking down elsewhere haha.

My Zed does not like going slow
Haha sometimes you can almost hear it whispering at you, floor it, floor it. Really doesn't help once you've got Dump valves, the whole experience is highly addictive.

My Zed does not like going slow
When I converted to manual, its was awful to begin with. The car had to have so many revs to pull off, would judder and then finally pull as normal higher in the range. A massive air leak later... it pulls like a train, pulls away off the clutch alone. Oh and it spools up virtually instantly, not at about 4k lol.

Auto Gearbox, Is It Dead????
Is it an import? Imports have a particularly crap box cooler, its simply a loop a few inches long that passes through the radiator. They weren't ever designed for high speed long motor way journeys, in the Japanese market. This is rectified by the Uk specs by actually having a separate box cooler. The box fluid should be a lovely pink colour, if it smells of burnt toast and its brown, that's a bad thing. There is something you can try that works for some, even if its temporary. In the box is a filter, this blocks with metal fillings etc, clean this change the fluid and it will possibly work for a while. However that being said, the auto boxes are renowned for failure, most of them have had a hard life with those 300 horses going through them. Unless your restricted to an auto for what ever reason I would urge you to convert to manual. Manual box is stronger and more reliable, the car will feel more responsive you've probably been throwing a lot of horses down the drain through transmissional losses. If your auto box is toast and you do fit another its likely you will find yourself back in this position in a few months/years time. Lastly don't go breaking down in my county again please esp if the car is red. people will assume its mine breaking, I don't like that idea.

Hi newbie here after my first zed!!!!
Hi there, fortunately the t top version is the most common. Available in both 2 seater and the 2+2 seater formats. I'd say budget to spend 3500 you may find a bargain, but often the cars sub 1000 are cheap for a reason. It may cost you double or triple to get them right. Your current budget is sensible, and may get you a Goodun, however a better pick would be through the 3500 catagory. Club cars are a good buy and look for something with lots of history. A large stack of receipts with these is a good thing. If you plan to use it daily, bear in mind the fuel consumption. Mid 20s with mixed driving is average. Less if your a lead foot, more on a long run. Best thing is start looking, start attending meets and generally get involved.

What did you do to your zed today?
Yeah later ones are webbed for lateral strength early ones fold up in a side impact. Are they both the same length, look different there.

stock turbo elbows removal
Bob on Joel, I had the reverse issue. The front pipes with no elbows. Quick call to jeff sorted that mind.

Is it just me, or are the general public getting ruder?
School run mums are savage mate. Focused on those kids hitting the drop zone, I swear the way some of them drive they are still over the limit from the night before.

stock turbo elbows removal
Yeah it's quite easy actually, if you know one end of the spanner from tuther. Worse case scenario you snap one of the rusty studs. That's always fun.

Stock turbos rebuild
If you can stretch a bit more buy new. Rebuilds can be good but good rebuilds cost. For not much more you could have new ones.
