Using the Term Series with regards to the Z32 production changes.
Series is just a generic term. Like said how on earth do you wish to divide them, 89-94 94-96 doesn't roll off the tounge does it. Some people need to chill out, thought ozzies were supposed to be laid back.

Doing it yourself, or paying for it? I only ask because the time aspect will vary wildly due to experience.

Classic car insurance without a garage
I don't think its so much that a garage door offers more safety. It is simply that if they can't see it they don't know its there, so an opportunist wouldn't know it was worth breaking in. Could be empty or filled with a few bags of leaves and some wood.

Mustang maniacs
It's not even "drifting" it's not being able to do a rolling burn out. To be fair to them who the hell makes a car with that much torque and fits it with the rear suspension from a horse and cart and pushes that power through a diff that has no ability to ratio of which power is sent to each wheel. These boys need to go get some practice somewhere safe, could of ended nasty this. Just reiterates that other thread really, if your gonna be a knob do it on your own and if you can't do that at least have the decency to learn how to do it properly.

What has to born in mind is we were all young and stupid once, what form of stupid you were and when is relatively irrelevant. I have a saying I came across and it's always stuck with me. "if coffee were outlawed, only outlaws would drink coffee." What I take from this is morality and law are not the same thing. Two examples of ****tery that relate to this subject, both stupid one despicable. Both most importantly true. Two kids in my school at a parents party, dads had given them some stumpy beers as they do, perfectly legally I might add. The dad works at a garage and has brought a boxster home for the weekend, being two stupid 16 year olds they nicked the keys and took it round the block, unfortunately and tragically the hit someone. They both got hammered for it, rightly so the driver went to prison for a fair while. He was just a normal kid who made an extremly stupid split second decision. He now has to live with that for the rest of his life. Completely despicable and sad and all of the rest of it. At the base line a stupid five minutes. The other end of the spectrum, a lad my brother in law is friends with did A handbrake turn in sainsburys carpark, not in the day in the evening. He already had 3 points for speeding and having just passed his test the conviction for dangerous driving meant his license disappear for quite a while. A third tale for you is a group of lads the year below at school, you remember the ones "invincible" "mush" harmless enough and mostly full of hot air. Until one night outside onestop the bravado went over the top, an older bloke told them to bog off essentially. So fueled by teenage stupidity one if them punched the bloke. Here's were it gets abnormal, the guy stumbled back fell over cracked his head on a post and died. That kid went to prison for I believe in the end manslaughter. The reason I'm telling you these stories, is to demonstrate the simple fact that 99% of us wether we admitt it or not were stupid. Think back about the things you've done and how though a bit of shit luck it could have gone very differently. We all make stupid choices, usually on the spur of the moment. Sometimes it goes very wrong, does that instantly make you a bad person? In my opinion, no, just stupid. Some people never grow out of it and continue to make poor choices, drugs, wives, fighting etc. Thankfully we mostly grow up. However society seems to have lost the ability for you to be stupid once, to make a silly call and not ruin your life. We have flipped out morality to the point were a serial mugger gets off lighter in terms if scale to a 14 year old who steals a Mars bar, it's a gross exaggeration but you see my point. Do you deserve to get the book thrown at you for running over 15 people in carpark because you were doing a burnout, well frankly yes, yes you do. I know for a fact many members on here speed, some even drift round round abouts on public highways. I don't I need my license thanks. Anyways I've gone off on one now, my point is kids will be stupid, out can't change that. What we can do however is encourage them if they have to be stupid do it out of harms way, preferably in a controlled environment. They won't take you up on that offer though if it's going to take them 3 hours to get there and cost more than there junk car did. Skidpan work and all of the rest if it should be part of the test, they would not only have it out their system, they would be safer. Call it section 3 car control and motorway driving, bet you save more lives than writing out tickets for people doing 81mph at 2am on the m4....

I think what he's trying to say is, locally, if there was something like that locally. Many parts of this country are devoid of anything like that, there's very little in the chance of track day here, you have to travel. For billy in his 106 that wants to rag it's arse the cost of £170 plus fuel for the day makes it unviable, he works part time in sainsburys remember. So if you could offer him an hour to dick about burn rubber and generally blow steam, for £20 he's gonna take you up on it and hopefully learn a few things in process, get bored, get a better job, car etc and do something better like you mentioned. As a side not there is a place round here that does offer cheap drifting etc but it's a banger oval with the solid concrete walls, get it wrong and you will smash your car up pretty nicely.

Plymouth has a really strong scene like this, most evenings there are cars up in the place this was filmed. 90% of it is just sub 100hp hatch backs and tbh in my experience the majority is just youths hanging out socialising, it's not a burn out festival. Bit of a chavy place Plymouth, spent my fair share of time down there working at Devonport, I still go down there pretty regularly. Tbh when stuff like this happens it happens because someone is being a tit. This ruins it for everyone, there's a local hap car club but the meets are often this kinda thing, mc d's carpark etc. What it means it that the police are very hot on any kind of car social. I didn't pass my test that many years ago, however you could then go to an empty carpark and do handbrake turns, doughnuts etc and the police didn't do much, mostly just told you to go away. If you failed to calmed down and bugger off you got booked fair enough, you've been warned. These days though, one hand brake turn and your off to court sonny. The government and media are always banging on about the poor standard of driving of new drivers. Two questions. Firstly if they passed the test and arn't upto scratch, then the test is failing to test them properly and the learning process isn't preparing them correctly, is that not the bottom line? Did you learn more passing your test or at 1am in sainsburys carpark with trays under the rear wheels? I know which taught me more. Don't get me wrong being a dick should get you in trouble, but we were all young once, we all did it to some extent and most of the time no real harm is done. Just young and silly. It really does grind my gears that the youth seem to get condemned for every last mistake, they pass thier exams the exams too easy, they fail they are thick etc etc. Cut the poor kids some slack we were all stupid at 18, some if us still are!

It's all trial and error I guess. You have achieved already what most of us can't, you've turned that old Datsun into something that would cost a mortgage to beat with a new stock car. Does your mate with the GTO live in Basingstoke? A chap I know that runs a lighting company was going on about his mates GTO having had lots of work etc. Think he has a caterham.

What do you think is causing you problems with your quarter times bob? The cars looking very good and I'm glad to hear it had a more complete time than last year, there were mechanical issues were there not?

Noob after some advice! new car
Doesn't sound overly positive, head gasket failure is not a common fault with these but with some of these cars having many many miles on them and being as much as 25 years old anything is possible. Equally with recent money spent on cooling, (trying to fix an overheating issue?) and the design of the engine(cast iron block with aluminium heads) the risk of warped heads because of an overheat may be a culprit. It also might be nothing more sinister than condensation, however your mention of blue smoke makes me think otherwise. If your serious about this car, then be prepared to spend about £1500 on a new block and turbos. Sounds like there is a good chance you will need them. £500 is extremely cheap, the going rate for a good condition twin turbo is between £3-4k now. Don't get me wrong, it could be a bargain it could as it seems be a basket case which could cost you some cash esp if your not mechanically minded. These cars arn't a cheap beater like a 200sx or an MX5. You need to think very carefully before jumping into that car about what your prepared/capable to do with it. Maybe a member might be willing to take a look with you, preform a compression test etc.
