Help Request on Oil Filter Tree
Yeah. With your battery out the way I recon acess to your head markings would be easy. They are stamped in 1" letters on the corner one head it's at the front the other at the rear. Infact theres a pic of mine here; http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?179355-2014-winter-works

Is that what that blank on the tree is, is it. Ideal location for oil temperature readings maybe.

I share your pain. I discovered a few months back that I had a late spec 10y NA block with turbos bolted to it and it was a late lower plenum with an early fuel rail and injectors mashed into it. Right mess.

Don't disagree it's definatly an investment, just wouldn't jump at that myself. I'm a product of the 80s myself. Just about says it all really.

Heads are easy. On the side left is at the back from memory it's stamped Early Late NA. 30p. 10y TT. 40p. 48p Early injectors are square topped, late are oval. The fuel rail is different too. Have a google images search and you will soon learn the difference.

The cooler line is on the tree, the sender is on the passenger side attached to the turbo oil feed line.

As far as I'm aware UK/Euro spec is the same as Jspec.

Glass replacement - is it worth it?
Only you can decide to be honest. From my stand point, no. If you had a mismatch, blue screen and brown sides for example then yeah, go for it. It won't make you any faster that's for sure. If all your glass is in good condition, not scratched etc that's way more important IMO than the colour.

It's not new news, it's just someone's pinned the buggers. Good on them. It does have to be said though if we went round investigating the wealthy I doubt you'd find many that were beyond a little creative accounting methods.

Project Dittohead Red
 I hope there's not enough left to do to become a whole new thread. It does have to be said "2014 winter works" was definitely more "2015 spring works" wish I hadn't been so lazy throughout the winter.

Right. Well I've missed the boat by a fair margin now. Sadly I can't afford both finically or time wise to do anymore till July. This time next week is the big day so everything is dominated by that now. I've decided that I'm going to replace the master regardless, seems silly to go that far then retain a master cylinder that is a known weakness and is a quarter of a century old. I will also instal a master brace, if you haven't seem the amount of flex when braking it's genuinely quite excessive. Then get a miles in her and book her in with Noel.

ongoing brake problems..
Cheers mark. I was thinking along those lines, but with the cost of replacement I was hoping it wasn't the case.

ongoing brake problems..
Mine sorry to hijack does yeah, no brakes no brakes then last mm anchors on and ABS activated.

I've got a similar issue ATM. Did you bench bleed the master, or indeed bleed it specifically at all?

That particular Z31 screams 80s and not in the good way. Two tone paint, pop up headlights and the digital dash instantly date the car. It's not a lovely 60s or 70s piece of craftsmanship, it's not one of the early pieces of precise engineering it's 80s gimmick. Like I say I like the Z31 and I'm always pleased to see one, I've even considered buying one, just not to have it scream that much 80s at me. Also the digital dash is whispering to me, "I'm going to break, I'm going to break and be impossible to fix or replace"

Well that helps. Do you want one with windscreen wipers or anything as specific as that? I'm sure Datsun cherrys can be found in blue...

BM57 rebuild kit.
I didn't realise that Pete. I thought the rubber deteriated over time as rubber does. I did the clutch one last year, obviously less important. So I thought it would be a similar process. It may not even be the issue but I want to prepare for the possibility, esp considering the early ones are known for being a bit naff and leaking. It may just be air caught in the system, still.
