  1. Given my experience with a steering wheel that looked like a Momo Millennium Evolution, and turned out to be a poor quality copy I'd say the same thing. Probably copies, and unless anyone can vouch for their quality I'd say walk away. They might be fine, but you just don't know until you've spent the money. Problem with eBay is it's getting very difficult to tell what's a good buy and what isn't. HTH, Bart
  2. C'mon! Show us the pics (please).
  3. Wow! I like that a lot.

Agreed. That's ruined a really nice car.

Hmm... I'm not sure I'd agree with that. If you're into tuning and want big BHP then a Skyline GTR is a much better bet than a zed, unless you're willing to spend some serious money. They're also quite different cars, in that the Skyline is AWD, whereas the zed is RWD. But anyway that's not the question. The answer really depends on what you're wanting from the car. If you want something that's really going to stand out and look unique then I'd go for the NSX. I saw an immaculate red one a few months back and it was *stunning*. They're also mid-engined and have awesome handling. They do perhaps look slightly dated, but in a very cool way it has to be said. On the other hand, if you want to play the bad boy and get maximum performance for the money, or give yourself the ability to do some fairly serious tuning without breaking the bank it's got to be the R33 GTR. If you're willing to spend the same as you'd have to spend on the NSX to get a decent one (at least 15 - 20k, and this'll be for a relatively early example) then you should be able to pick one up with an absolutely awesome spec. But you're also going to need the cash to keep the thing running, and that isn't going to be cheap if the engine has been heavily modded. For my money, I'm a bit of a tart so I'd go for the NSX. I've really become quite a big fan of them in recent months. It's classy and exotic, and it handles like a dream. Plus it's a Honda, so it's going to be reliable.
  6. TBH I'd avoid the 205, but not because it isn't a great car, it's just that as a daily drive it's not going to be much more economical than a TT Z32. Back along I was thinking of getting rid of my zed and somebody offered me a silver one in p/x. From the pictures it looked immaculate. Lovely car, but absolutely not what I was looking for.
  7. Whoa, very sorry to hear that. Condolences. RIP.
  8. Ummm... tbh all Astons, at least in recent years, are "just bit's off 4/5 other car" (sic). One of my neighbours used to have a DB7: lots of Jag parts, and probably a lot of others besides. Even zed headlights are used in one of the Lambourghini models (forget which one). Doesn't mean it's not a nice car.

  10. Well, I like the orca, but that yellow thing is about the ugliest car I've ever seen that isn't on barryboys.com.
  11. Yeah, I'm no big fan of heights, but I'd definitely give that a go. Looks fantastic.
  12. One of my friends just sent me this, and I thought of Royal's makeshift "G-meter": http://zedomax.com/diy/102/diy102.htm The ultimate in car-tech bling.
  13. The cross-over will balance the exhaust note from both pipes. The stock zed exhaust system is also fitted with one.
  14. That's mad. It would be fun to have just for the day... although in general the problem with it is that it still looks like a Micra which ain't a cool thing at all.
  15. As much as I'm tempted nowadays I never brake test anyone. I did it one time in the zed on the M25. I was going pretty fast and this moron in a people carrier was right up my backside in the outside lane. I couldn't pull in due to traffic in the other lanes. The outside lane was clear in front of me for at least 300 metres. Anyway, I ignored the guy for a while, but eventually my temper snapped because he was incredibly, stupidly close.... and rather than tapping the brake pedal I fairly stomped it. Only for a fraction of a second, but it was long enough. People talk about the zed having crap brakes, but they aren't that bad, and you can certainly outbrake most cars on the road over a short distance. The guy jams on his brakes, and either they were badly adjusted or he twitched the steering wheel very abruptly out of sheer panic because he nearly ended up in the crash barrier on the central reservation. The way his car lurched I wondered afterwards if it wasn't fortunate it didn't just roll over anyway. After that he backed right off, but the thought of what nearly happened scared the crap out of me, and I've never done it since, and never will again. I don't know, but I kind of hope that both of us learned a lesson from that. Nowadays I just gently let off the accelerator and gradually slow down. They either take the hint or overtake, and if I'm in a bad mood and the road is clear, well I just boot it whilst they're on the way past.
  16. Fair point there: and I'll admit, I did just look at the pictures, think "bleuch", and get no further. Like you say though, the spoiler and the vinyls aren't hard to remove and then it would be pretty peachy.
  17. Well I looked at the first photo and thought it was OK in a slightly "Need For Speed Underground" kind of way... then I realised that was because it was at night, slightly blurred, and the highlights in the background disguise the awful spoiler. The other shots show it's true nature: one to avoid I think.
  18. I really like that apart from the spoiler. Really great colour... although probably a bit of a pain to keep clean. Looks fantastic though.
  19. I'm going to go against the flow here: the stock bonnet looks much better on your car IMHO... but then I do hate CF because it manages to combine the characteristics of being very expensive and looking very cheap. But hey, it's your car so the thing is whether or not you're happy with it at the end of the day.
  20. Eeteresting, thanks for the information.
  21. Not usually into gold, but those look absolutely fantastic. I'd be chuffed to bits if they were mine. Is the gold standard or did you ask for that to be done. Thinking I might do the same to mine as they need a bit of a refurb -- the lacquer's gone on three of them and I've only had them for 18 months or so.
  22. Sounds like a Renault to me. :nelson:
  23. Maybe I'm just getting old or something, but it's 1am and some complete /-\$$|-|/-\7 is letting off fireworks. Lots of fireworks. And this really gets up my nose. Admittedly I'm not in bed, I'm working, but that's another story: it's loud enough to break my concentration. And it's August as well!!! Term finished weeks ago, but you just know it's going to be one of the colleges. I can just about tolerate it for a couple of weeks during the May Ball season when they habitually let of fireworks at ridiculously late hours when most of us have to get up for work the next day (this also finished weeks ago), and obviously around November 5th, and indeed I'm quite a fan of fireworks anyway. But not in the early hours of the morning! Never in the early hours of the morning! No need!! |_()\\*|_1PH3 (31_00[)`/ es7\|[)3|\|7z!!!!
  24. Fair enough. I imagine that makes it a much better daily driver though.
  25. LOL. It really is unbelievable. I did hear a story once, and I've no idea whether or not this is an urban legend, which it could well be, about this guy who'd bought a Winnebago motor home type thing. Anyway he's driving along the highway and realises he needs the loo. So what does he do? He switches on the cruise control, gets up and goes to the loo and leaves the thing to drive itself along the road. Predictably enough it leaves the highway, crashes and rolls over. So the guy then sues the makers of the vehicle because they didn't tell him you couldn't do that!!! I think he might have won as well. Absolutely unbelievable. Only in America as they say.
