  1. Nice camera though. For that money it'd have to be.
  2. That's just unbelievable! Like Dave I'd seen the clip before but it ends with the blazing Ferrari. I'm amazed he got out alive, but like others have to ask why it took so long to get to him? There should have been marshals and firefighters all over that car as soon as it stopped.

That sounds like it might possibly be good news. I don't think being a couch potato has much to do with it though: yellow fever is a bugger, and perhaps if you'd been a couch potato as well you'd be dead now. Sounds like you're in good hands with the docs at any rate.
  4. Precisely why I don't have one... well, not really. I just quite like driving a "convertible", but since I'm not a fan of the zed convertible look T-tops are a great compromise. Have to say though that the general consensus is the slicktop handles better due to improved stiffness.
  5. Mmm... yet one more reason for me not to play any MMORPGs. :-S Every time I get tempted to subscribe to WOW something happens that makes me think perhaps not.

I'd have to agree. From that news report the fact is that you've basically no idea what actually happened beyond that some sort of incident happened involving a white girl and five asians in a science lesson. If it's as reported then yeah, it's insane, but maybe she did go off on one and hurl insults at them. Who knows?
  7. I'd have to agree with some of the comments above: you can't make assumptions about what speed you have to be doing in order to be prosecuted in a given area. It's very unlikely you'd ever get done for doing 31 in a 30, however a couple of years back when I was renewing my car insurance the chap I spoke to say he'd had exactly that happen to him from a fixed speed camera in an urban area where they'd implemented a zero tolerance policy, so clearly it does happen. What would be really handy at this point is if I could remember where exactly, I think it may have been Norwich.
  8. I came to work. It went rapidly downhill from there. Software testers have really managed to get up my nose today, filing bugs reports like, "hey, when I disconnect the database whilst it's loading the data I get an error." Really?!?? No kidding, you surprise me. And these are people who've been working on the system for months. What are they expecting to happen? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! edit ...runs off to go postal... /edit
  9. Is there anyone who couldn't agree with that?
  10. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Can we please all just let this go?
  11. Ouch, bad luck mate. Hope you get it all sorted out. Must say I find the three passports intriguing: your missus isn't some sort of government agent is she?
  12. Excellent!! Now the fun begins. At some point, when I've got some spare cash again, I'd love to get one of those fitted to mine.
  13. That's an exceptionally tricky question to answer. There are three I'd tick if I could: tailgating, lane hogs, and discourteous drivers. They're all very annoying and the last two are something I experience on either a regular or semi-regular basis.
  14. Interesting you mention it. Had the same thing driving into the sunset along the M25 last weekend. Absolute nightmare. Maybe it's something to do with the angle of the front windscreen, or the J-spec tint, or maybe I'm just getting old. Either way, I don't remember the problem being as bad in my previous car.
  15. Yeah, I thought the first one was better too but this one's still good.
  16. Yeah, good luck to him I say. If he can get around 15k for it then surely that's good news for all of us?
  17. I wish I was going out too! I'm at work. :-S
  18. Oh yes. Remember that from a couple of years back. It's an absolute classic.
  19. Nice. They've got the kitsch factor just right.
  20. Yeah I couldn't really see what the problem with the fourth one was either. I don't really like what's been done with the rear light clusters but I think the rest of the exterior looks great. I've also few objections to a brightly coloured leather interior, and inevitably these things look better in the flesh than in photos. I'll admit that most of the cars on that list are pretty messed up, and in general most of the cars on that site are a mess, however there is an element, of "hey, this guy's car isn't some really dull eurobox ergo it must be a total shed" about it. Along with other sentiments such as "hmm, this person has clearly poured all their disposable income into their car so they're obviously a complete muppet, in total contrast to me: I use my money much more responsibly by frittering it away on bad investments, electrical goods I don't need and don't really know how to use anyway, XBOX live, CDs by bands whose names I will have forgotten in five years time, expensive red wine I know sweet nothing about, poorly laid laminate flooring, and lashings of internet porn." Unfortunately the site seems to be populated largely by a bunch of whining hypocrites who appeared to have proclaimed themselves as some sort of style police force. The photos are funny for about an hour and then it becomes dull. As do the repetetive comments.
  21. I dunno. In amongst the satire there are some fair points. America is a great place. Unfortunately 300 million people virtually guarantees that some of them are going to be ignorant, bigoted, small-minded, gun-toting rootin' tootin' red necks who can't understand why everyone else doesn't see the world the same as they do. But I'd have to agree with Si: there are an awful lot of really great people in America as well. It's not a bad place, and certainly a lot better than living under the Taliban, or Saddam Hussein, or in Saudi Arabia. I've never been myself but I have a friend who travels there on business fairly regularly and it's just *not* a safe place to be a westerner. We just don't get to hear about the problems here because the information is suppressed. Oh yeah, and interestingly given that Saudi Arabia is supposed to be one of our allies, did you know that you can't take a Bible into the country? Mmmm, nice and tolerant then, whereas if you're a Saudi Arabian you can bring a copy of the Qur'an into this country and stand preaching on the street corner. Understand that I'm not saying you shouldn't be allowed to do that, but I do find the hypocrisy a little hard to swallow. My attitude to immigrants in this country (can't speak for the Americans) can be summed up as fine, come here, settle down, you're welcome but (i) be nice to people, (ii) get a (legal) job, (iii) learn to speak English, (iv) make an effort to integrate with society a bit rather than living in a ghetto. I'm not saying bin all of your culture and traditions, I'm saying try to fit in a bit. When in Rome and all that. And if you don't like this country and the way things are here and the fact that we all quite like speaking English because it helps us understand one another then don't come here. Stop whining and go somewhere else instead. Anyway, rant over. ;) I've just re-read that paragraph and realised how much I sound like David Brent, which I reckon probably means it's time for bed. Cheers, Bart
  22. Hmm, generally I try to avoid being cynical but I can't really disagree with this. Unfortunately there are precious few politicians who exhibit the qualities necessary for leadership in this day and age. Oops, don't I sound old all of a sudden? Anyway, about the car... This is probably a really daft question, especially since you already have a zed and probably know far more about them than I do, but I have to ask as the NA bumper makes me suspicious and somebody came on here a while ago who'd been had and had bought an NA which he was told was a TT. You're *absolutely* sure it's a TT? It's got the boost gauge, the extra pipework in the engine bay etc? Suddenly the power kicks in when you hit about 2.5k revs? Sorry, had to ask.
