  1. The 458 is new this year.. wouldn't surprise me me seein one of those in cheshire... footballers etc. But you would see that on a ferrari website. How sure are you it was a ferrari? Did you see the badge? The biggest cars ferrari makes are the 599 and 612, but are not exactly massive. If it was white I'd half expect Chris Evans behind the wheel, he has a thing about white ferrari's. He sprayed his F40 white... well, i doubt he did it himself. It wasnt a Saleen S7 was it? Have a google and see. Cheers
  2. Sony PS3, any day... Looks like everyone is giving the PS3 a kicking, so i'll champion its corner.. GT5 will be worth every minute's wait I guarantee you. Have you seen the car list on games forums? Its enough to make you weep. Some serious exotica in there and it will look good enough to eat. I just hope they bin those retarded time penalties that they have on prologue. Someone smashes into you and for some fooked up reason YOU get the freakin penalty - nice one, great achievement polyphoooony, wreck the hole gameplay why don't you... Small rant aside, if you want the ultimate driving game, then GT5 will kick the crap outta any Xbox game, amputate its limbs, incinerate the remains, put them in a home made rocket and launch them into space. FACT Its the only proper reason to buy one - and i've had enough problems with my old 40gig console. Now got a 250 slim and still stand by it as the ultimate console. And, when BBC i-player licences other channels from Sky etc, they will all be available too, which will happen in the next 12 months. WITH NO MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION. Read it and weep XBOX 360
  3. Beauty is always a subjective thing.. I think the front end looks the business, but the rear bumper just doesnt sit right. If it were me I'd go for the smoothed rear bumper and keep it looking stock. Its a shame really cos the rear view is probably the weakest aspect of the car, but the most common view that people get! Less is more, I say Still a great looking machine whichever way you go..
  4. I've got a Tech-Tom fitted to my motor. It shows road speed, water temp, air flow and something else I forget now. It just plugs into the existing system but gives a digital display as apposed to an anologue. When it was properly hot at the weekend the temp got upto about 87-90 in slow moving traffic, but dropped to 80-85 when moving above 40mph. at motorway speeds it was reading 77-83. What I hadn't really considered was the use of the turbo timer. In my niavity I left the timer on, only to return to my car a short while later to find the engine temp was well over 90 even tho the engine had stopped running. The heat sink must be a killer from the manifolds and turbos. Needless to say, I cool the engine to about 80 with careful driving and switch it straight off once stopped. Worth a mention I thought. Cheers
  5. Easy guys Has taken me a while to notice this one. When accelerating on a poor surface I've become aware that somethin is a amiss. The first time it happened I put it down to stiff suspension and a poor road surface but its happened a couple of times since. Not very often - but I generally dont cane it unless on a good road surface anyway. 99% of the time there's no indication of a problem. When it does occur it feels like something isnt meshing correctly, either in the gearbox or the diff - or so I presume. Cant pinpoint it exactly - as I lift off whenever I hear/feel it happening for fear of damaging it further. It happens only briefly for a second or so, on rough or broken tarmac. Am having most of the suspension bushes replaced at ZEDWORLD early next month, so while its there what do I need to investigate? I'm pretty confident its something to do with the transmission. One of the HICAS arms is being replaced along with the outer hub bush - is it likely that this has anything to do with it? As ever, thanks for the comments/advice cheers
  6. Very true... But I did go back after a couple of days a buy it.. Turns out it wasn't half bad either. Felt a bit guilty for throwing a shadow of doubt over it - wasn't deliberate..
  7. Yeah found him, will drop him an email and find out how many pennies I will need to save... Thanks:thumbup1:
  8. Good grief... 4.5k? Thats mind blowing, you'd want to feel like you were sitting in a bentley afterwards. Trouble is, my car cost me 3.5k, so how do you justify that kinda outlay for an interior. Simple - you cant. Artz - did you get any work done in the end, or did you walk away laughing like your NOS bottle had a leaky valve? Whats the best comprimise then, for quality and finish vs price? Surely there must be a cheaper alternative with reasonable results. I would get a re-trim kit from Z centre and try myself, but to be honest, I know I'd end up paying someone else to do it. Surprised a club member hasn't cornered the market with full interiors at a sensible price. Must be no end of members wanting to modernise their interiors? Any takers?
  9. Auto's are for people with one leg. If you are able bodied - buy a manual. If you an amputee or cant be arsed to drive properly - buy an auto. An auto cant heel and toe.. It will change gear just when you dont want it too. It always pushes you when you're braking. Its worse on fuel. You will never achieve 'driving nirvana' with an auto If you have to ask what that last bit meant, buy an auto....
  10. Easy now, Was gonna mention, I was looking into getting A RETRIM and also found a couple of places in Leicestercestershire that do it. Think one was car called classic car interiors, or somethin equally as obvious. Given the fact i'm skint for the next month or so - ( suspension overhaul ) I hadnt even inquired how much a full retrim would be. I was thinking 1000's rather than 100's.. Let me know how you get on though, always good to support the local businesses, convenient too.. Hope you get the desired effect Cheers
  11. good work there, looks like a quality effort with the touch screen. Looks a bit like the BMW i-Drive setup if you ask me! Very slick.. Will hopefully get to see it in the flesh sometime this summer at club meet. Lookin good
  12. Have you got this model fitted to your zed? If so, does in fit in one of the DIN compartments? Prefer the factory-fitted look...
  13. Looks impressive. Found one on the net for £333, so not overly expensive. Love the fact that you can modify the boost for each gear, would stop the rear tyres getting destroyed in first and second. Thanks for the post... :thumbup1:
  14. Whilst trying to find my Zed I test drove many different cars, in varying states of tune. Of the ones I drove with boost controllers, I would say that yes - it is possible to turn the boost down below the manufacturer's level. On one car in particular it was very noticeable how little the turbo's were working when the boost was turned right down. In city driving where stop-start progress is more common, then it would probably save you fuel - albeit very, very marginally. However, at constant speeds i.e on the motorway it wouldn't save any fuel. The turbos are hardly working and the engine speed determines how quickly the fuel is drawn into the engine. If you seriously wanted to save fuel you would need to have a variety of fuel maps, with one drastically reducing the fuel injected. But my guess is, you'd hate it and turn it straight back up to full fat anyway. On the subject of fuel consumption... My skyline had 170hp and did 30mpg, my zed has 300+hp and does 27mpg. To me thats effing brilliant. A small price to pay for lighting up the rear tires every time my right foot gets heavy!! Good times..
  15. Right, Here is a link to the aforementioned boost controller: http://www.driftworks.com/shop/p662/Gizzmo-Electronic-Boost-Controller/product_info.html The design is just about perfect - small, compact and unfussy. Having looked a little more in detail, it doesn't seem there's a fantastic choice of low-end boost controllers about. My friend offered me his BCU+ system, but having read reviews about em, I can see why he's givin it away.. If anyone has any experience of the Gizzmo IBC unit then i'd be interested to hear from you, or if your boost controller has ever played up/problems. Cheers
  16. Easy folks, My '95 Jap spec TT doesnt have a boost gauge, as is the case with series 4 and 5 models. Its no big deal in itself, but my car has been fitted with an induction kit, exhaust and chip - so i'm surprised that there is no boost controller. I would have thought that anyone going to the expense of fitting a new ECU would have also released a few more horses by winding up the boost. So, two main questions really: Firstly, is it possible that the boost pressure has been tweaked even though there seems to be no way to adjust the boost And secondly, can anyone recommend a small, digital boost controller? I've seen one on Driftworks website, but i'm not convinced its worth over £200. It would need to be able to display boost pressure tho, as i'd rather not have any gauges - just not that keen on 'em. cheers
  17. You're killin me... I'm indecisive enough without this. But then, I did ask the question - so what was I expectin? The way Jeff explained it to me got me intrigued, sounds like quite a intelligent system. How it adapts to the drivers input and so on. Gonna stick to my guns for now, will give it a chance. Can always delete after a while. Cheers
  18. Awesome, great tunes too. Apparently the music in the first one is Daniel Knox 'Man without a past' on Disaster Record label. Red red and red is possibly not the best colour combination, but the hardware is certainly up to scratch. Thanks for the links, good times! Makes you wanna go out and make a movie of your own. Remeber the Jap guy who filmed himself doin 200mph in his Ferrari F40, then got prosecuted using the video as evidence against him! Thatd be just my luck... Speed kills - so does boredom...
  19. Well, I took my car to Zedworld this morning After speaking at great length on the subject I'm swinging towards keeping it for a while. One of my Hicas arms needs replacing and a few other bushes would benefit from being changed, but otherwise the car seems in good health! Great News So, once I get paid the car will be back there for a new Hicas arm and i'll give it a chance to impress. Was raining this morning and from what I can tell, the Hicas doesnt interfere with a 'dab of oppo' too much. Really sweet chassis, I have to say. Looks like my zed has 'an aggressive ECU' which goes some way to explain why wheel spin in second is so rampant (in the dry and a straight line). In the wet its err, interesting. In the same way that juggling with chainsaws is. Well, thanks for the input - Hicas lives, for now...
  20. Sweet baby Jesus, The stuff of dreams... Cant wait to see it finished, looks absolutely mint. Me jealous? not a bit... well maybe... actually, im green with envy.. Good work, will be keepin note of what shows you are doin, cars like that are few and far between. Keep it up
  21. Really? Didnt think it would make any difference at that speed.. On the subject of parking, parellel parked for the first time last night. Had to get a taxi to the curb...:scared: Visibility aint the zeds forte, which doesnt help when it feels as wide as a lorry. Cant see the nose, cant see backwards - cos of excessive window tinting, no doubt i'll get used to it. You know its bad when your missus makes fun of you! On a serious note, will see what the verdict is at Zed world tomorrow, but might give it a chance to impress me as my skyline never had the Hicas and i'm interested what the benefits are. Thanks for the input
  22. well, thats cleared that up then! I'll definitely... do something, probably. From what I've read on the topic, If - like me - your sense of direction is really bad and you forget which exit to take on roundabouts (usually when its wet and greasy) and end up goin round and round, then you're better off ditching the Hicas. Ultimately it will loose a little high speed agility - but generally I dont lean on any chassis much above 50 or 60mph, 'cos the risks are too high. Call me niave, but I was wondering just how much of a difference it would make. Any front-engined rear-drive car with 300 ponies should be fairly responsive to the throttle through long sweepers - I would like to think. PS, is wheel spin in second gear in the dry common or has my car been fettled more than I realised?
  23. Looks like i'm going to have to replace the Hicas arms or linkages on my car. I'd convinced myself that the best course of action would be to fit a lock out kit (as supplied by Driftworks) and do away with the Hicas system altogether. Just wanted to gauge opinion really.. Those in favour say aye, those not in favour say naye... and why. Cheers
  24. Currently residing in the lovely residential area of braunstone! Just look for the plumes of smoke from burning cars on the horizon and head in that direction! Will get myself subscribed and we can fix up a time and place. Cheers
  25. and to you Evo... We should meet up some time. I've seen your car once heading out towards Kilby, coming from countersthorpe way (last year sometime). Wasn't a member then, but instantly recognised the motor when I saw your posts. Anyway, if you wanna come and check out my motor and give me your pennies worth, it'd be appreciated. Might have a quick nosey round yours too if you let me and get some inspiration! PS - Im not a weirdo! Cheers
