  1. Give me one of these any day... Makes the Ultimate look like a chav's 'trolly sweep' at a deamon tweaks store.. Probably designed by someone with a very small todger:blink:
  2. Not really Henry.. Was thinking I'd keep the 17's for when the mood takes me. If I do decide to take the Zed on track then these will be better dynamically due to the lower profile sidewalls. If it wasn't for the very poor quality of my local roads I'd keep the 17's on, on half decent roads they are fine. Thanks for the offer though
  3. Surely the lower the intake temp the better? Cooler air, higher density = better combustion, no? Why did you suggest 30-40c? what's the logic? cheers
  4. I parked the girlfriends car half on the pavement half on the road. Came back after a really hot day and the screen had split half way up from the wipers.. Probably had a small crack I hadn't noticed. New glass though! Every cloud!!!
  5. 31 (for another month) '95 Jap TT Manual - took me over 30 years to come to my senses:sailor: d'argh Jim lad
  6. Oh my, looks like someone shuffled through the card jokes book! Dear oh dear
  7. Nice one Pete PM when you got the car back. Cheers
  8. Would hardly call being ejected through a window/windscreen a lucky escape. A lucky escape would have been if a lorry full of feathers was driving just infront of you and you managed to land smack in the middle! Hi Hollings Looks like you gotta whole lotta car there. Can't believe you're able to sit down and drive it after the ass :censored: by the insurance companies. Hope it holds together as good as it looks - cos it looks mighty fine, Best of luck
  9. I really like the BBS rims - SWEET - please let me know who, when what and how much.. Much appreciated
  10. Awesome, exactly what I was after Reckon a set of uk spec alloys would fit the bill nicely. I live in an area with concrete roads, the expansion joints are terrible - hence why I'm after a bit of profile.. Has anyone fitted uk spec rear wheels on the front previously - or is it best to stick with what nissan intended? I would prefer bigger diameter wheels, but for the reasons above I'll probably keep my 17's for track use only - I must be getting old! Next I'll be wearing slippers and smoking a pipe! Thanks for the input
  11. Currently after a set of standard 16" alloys to replace my 17's:detective: Got me thinking though, are there any rims/tyres readily available with more than 225 section width (with a comparable profile - i'm after comfort more than anything)? I had a look for tyres, but all the online major stores didn't go any wider than 225.. Currently running 235's all round, so not too much of a drop, but ideally want 245+ Any wheely techy types know the answer:confused1:
  12. Please stop - all this talking about nurses has given me a temperature... Must be the thought of those uniforms.. Sorry, some one had to do the obligatory gag..
  13. On a similar vein, my car has BOV's fitted (will have to check make, can't remember now) but are only audible in a bridge/tunnel where the sound can bounce back.. What I've noticed is the engine/boost levels react differently depending on your throttle inputs (yeah, yeah - big surprise). Let me explain a) put foot down b) boost builds c) revs rise to 6k rpm d) depress clutch, lift throttle e) change gear f) engage clutch, push throttle g) hesitates, then boost comes back all at once, not increasing - just instant maximum boost So for all intents and purposes it feels like turbo lag, except it doesn't do it all the time.. this is the other scenario: a) push throttle b) build revs c) hit 6k rpm d) lift throttle slightly e) clutch in, drop throttle f) shift g) engage gear and back on throttle h) now there's no noticeable lag, but you CAN feel boost building - not instant.. I'm sure that'll make sense to someone, but not me.. :detective:
  14. Does it do it every time you pull away? or just sometimes? Does it do it on smooth surfaces as well as broken ones?
  15. OK, so we'll have to do another in Sep, especially if we have a V8 zed in our midst! Hope there's gonna be a couple of turbos strapped to it:scared: Anyone wanting to meet sooner?
  16. Hi there, Have paid my subs by direct transfer with leo-r32gts as reference. Advised it will be there within the next 2hrs. Many thanks
  17. Nice one - better cough up my subs then eh?
  18. Right, short notice but if there's enough interest then we should be able to figure something out. Location - to be decided by attendees, i.e: somewhere central to the majority. Time - Weedend, weekday - evening? I'm flexible, easier at weekends but a quickie in the evening is do-able given the long days at the mo. My only suggestion is that it takes place befor Monday Aug 2nd. Who and what - If you wanna come then suggestions welcome. I was thinking a pub car park or something where refreshments and toilet facilities are available. I reckon about 5 or more cars would make it worth while, doesn't have to be the biggest gathering of Zeds since time began, just enough for a bit of bonnet lifting, finger pointing and some ooohs and aaahs. That'll do nicely If you're interested, put your location and and availability and we'll take it from there.. Suggestions...
  19. No, didn't thrash it - as I was aware something was amiss. Did get it very hot though, but turbo's weren't blowing too much so hopefully they were still within a comfortable operating temp...
  20. Hey Damo, what happened to your other thread(...I was the only one at...)? It said it had been moved, but i couldn't find where... Oil service end of next month for sure.. Cheers What time Sunday?
  21. having never been able to afford a new car, mechanical sympathy has been a must for most of my driving life. Its different when you have to pay to fix 'em yourself(reminiscing about thraping the mum's car(s) to bits:whistling:) That said, I bought it to drive it. Me and my mate have always said, its better to expose a problem than drive around it. But I think you're right - if there was an issue, it would be apparent by now. It's just not my kinda luck to get away with something like that. Would rather spend money improving the car than fixing it though, so point taken..
  22. Awesome, not only is my engine on the brink of letting go - I've probably damaged the turbos too! It must be Christmas...:crying:
  23. After nearly cooking my engine I now have some questions regarding how the engine actually works. 1) Are the turbos in any way cooled by water? I was v. surprised to read this and wasn't sure if it was fact or fiction.. 2) Are the SMICs air-to-air or air-to-water? Assumed they were air-to-air but wasn't sure.. Cheers
  24. There we go, hope that clarifies the air con topic.. Just a shame I don't have econ mode..
  25. Yeah, he very kindly despatched me some rear shocks they day befor he closed shop... Apparently he's going to his private island in the carribean:tt2: You have to feel for the bloke, imagine having Richard Branson as your neighbour:2guns:
