i have an uprated rad and its awkward but the shroud can be fitted...imho a viscous fan is only performing 50% of its pulling power through the rad without the shroud so fitting is a must.

watching the vid i personly think they make a terrible sound...could be any hot hatch on the high street iff you close your eyes,sounds too "farty" for my tastes

It does sound like the air con pipe has come loose under the dash...this would point to the noise and the grease could be the R12 lubricant. Pull the plug from your air con pump and see iff you still have it.
