Dave Brubeck Qautet
When I was a lad (a very long time ago)! I was told that Brubecks drummer, Joe Morello, had all his fingers surgically broken and reset in order that he could hold the drumsticks better. I don't know if this is true or not but he must surely rate as one of the worlds best drummers.

earthquake anyone ?
Did It!! but at 12.58am. Certainly a bowel-wrenching moment. fortunately very little damage around here. I was very surprised, I looked out and the family accross the road did the same but that was it. Everyone else seemed to sleep on. It seemed to me that an express train had driven along and tried to knock all the houses down. The whole house was shaking.

Fooking Virgin Media clowns
I was just about to swap to Virgin Media. I am at present using broadband on my BT line ISP is Tesco. Since Xmas I can only conect at ceretain times of day. I contacted Tesco who in turn contacted BT who have sent 2 engineers round . Apparently I live 4.5 miles from the exchange which is on the limit of BT's power. There is little chance of them improving things in the forseable future. Therefore I will always suffer as more people between me and the exchange connect. I receive about 1/2 meg. Both engineers and Tesco imtimate that Cable is the way to go. Cable is already supplied to my house so I was going to go Virgin but I only ever hear complaints about their service. Are they that bad or is there another cable supplier?

Japfest Castle Combe 17th May 2008
please also remember that Madmarco has jumped in at the deep end to organise this event, never having done it before. Please don't sign on on this thread if you've already done so on the Z Club site and remember it does confuse things if you have a different user name on each site. Anyway turn up and enjoy, it's a great event.

doing a collection for charity namely RSPCA
personally I think this organisation is run by scum. I have the utmost respect for the 'workers' in the organisation who I am sure give their hearts to their job however i find the ethics of their 'leaders' questionable to say the least. Over my years in the pet food industry I have seen the RSPCA do far more harm than good all in the name of sensationalising their public image. I would not give this organisation a brass farthing of my money under any circumstasnces and I would urge you not to make a donation from Z008. There are a lot more animal charities that are far more deserving . I acknowledge that people should make their own decisions about charitable donations and wish IndianZX every succes with his venture however as an ardent supporter of Z008 I am very much against this charity receiving our support. i am willing to supply 'evidence' in support of my views if neccessary.

Saw it go past the broadmarsh centre (where the busses are) then over the bbc round about next to the shell garage. Only saw the back, had the strip lights and it was black.

Jamie Oliver..
you get what you pay for. As an ex pig breeder I am aware of what happens in food production (and even more aware of the difference between what the public pay and what the farmer receives). It is all very well for Jamie and Hugh to extol the virtues of free range and organic produce but at the end of the day it all depends on the size of the customers pocket. I shop at Tescos. I buy cheap chicken and (reluctantly) Danish bacon because it's a lot cheaper than English. We belong to the EEC and follow it's draconian animal welfare laws to the hilt. Our farmers are 'policed' by stupid twats such as the RSPCA etc continually trying to enforce their interpretations of welfare codes. These codes are imposed by the pillocks who sit in their comfortable offices in Brussels wondering who to pester next. Go and look at any farm in Europe and see if these welfare codes are enforced, or if in fact there is anybody to enforce them. Buy what you can afford, don't be influenced by the 'horrors' that Jamie and co have to show you mock ups of because our farmers 'won't show them' you'll probably find that they no longer exist.

Planning a Road Trip
It depends how much time you've got. There are now some amazing bridges in france which are terrifying to drive over!. The Z Club pull in Le Mans with the French z Club and that's worth a trip. Go onto the Z Club site and join as a website member. You can then contact Sean Dezart on the pm system (he's in france and arranges the Le Mans trip) Or try Suzy on either site she sorts out the english side of the trips. HTH
