Import or UK - Its been pretty much answered, but I would take it on a car by car basis. Dont rule out either. Auto or Manual. Manual is definatly the much stronger box, Autobox is a pretty common failure unfortunatly. Its claimed that the Auto its faster from a standing start 0-100mph, but there talking 0.1secs (or 'nothing' in other words ;)) and the manual is quite a bit quicker at everything else. Auto will be easier to find, and cheaper though, and better for traffic if your not buying the zed as a sports car ;)
  4. an original manual will more powerfull at the wheels & fly than a Auto-> manual conversion, but the Auto to Manual should in theory have quicker spool and a bit more response in sacrifice for power. I dount there will be much difference in performance between them at all, especially at stock boost.
  5. No, auto engine has lower bhp and torque but more responsive low down. Autobox has no affect on the engine power figures, only the power output at wheels.
  6. No, power difference was down to Cams and Turbo's. They sacrificed top end power to make up for the low down torque losses from the autobox.
  7. pmsl
  8. Yep, Paul at Southwestz is a top bloke. Im in Puriton (nr bridgwater), just of J23. Southwestz are inbetween Weston and burnham, so very handy. May pop over there on Saturday If I can, if your booked in. Keep an eye on the South West meets section. You just missed a meet yesterday, but more to follow.

  10. £6k sounds remarkably low to me. Ztech/Greg's was for sale the other week for £6.5k, with pretty much the same exterior bodykit as yours but without the "special" V8, and sold straight away, and there have others that have sold for £7k+ recently I was thinking about your car the other day when you mentioned selling it, and my first thoughts were how I could come up with £10k quickly!! £8k for a quick(er) sale perhaps. They'll be fighting over it at £6k!
  11. nope, potentially the cheatest fix of all, as it usually means a split or loose vacumm pipe somewhere. Its finding the cultprit thats the problem
  12. pmsl...check out rest of pics http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=69590

A lot of issues with handling are down to your own driving styles. Different cars suit different people (which is why every race drivers has a different setup to every other driver). However the only sort of corners a small hatchback would possibly be able to go quicker around would be very slow tight corners, maybe. There is no way a fwd hatchback could stick with a zed on anything other than that. However, The zed has quite a complicated suspension setup, and its harsh on its suspension components. Original, Worn shocks/springs/bushes make a dramatic affect on handling, compared to more mundane cars, and any zed past 50k/12years on original components, is running around on severly worn suspension.

Its "power" goes to the wrong wheels, for a start. Its 0-100mph is 21 secs
  15. Looks amazing. I will try and sort out a decent pic. Is there a recomended size/type/dpi for the image we send, In order for it to not lose any quality in the final print ?
  16. join date June 2002.....purchase zed April 2006. Now thats what I call holding out for the right one ;) 1) If car has had a respray in past, then the fuel cap can stick where the extra paint binds against fuel cap and body. 2) There is a rubber gaitor around the gearshift (under the trim) that stops transmission noises entering cabin. They often get torn and worn with age and need replacing. 3) Could try RiceRocket Uk or Supercar parts. Both in Traders section.
  17. Not till July ..and I need more time to come up with a decent pic LOL
  18. We go for Quality, not quantity down 'ere !    (sorry paul)
