  1. The head gasket went (small water leak+failed viscous fan+stock temp gauge :wack: ). I had big plans for her, so while preparing for new engine I sold a lot of the stock parts ready for aftermarket but with little more than a rolling shell and a fancy interior left I realised I needed a more suitable example to start of with (slicktop) so ended up breaking the remaining parts.
  2. Nice wheels, there on my list of possible wheel choices. Im not 100% on the wide arch design, but the rest of the kit looks good, even the wing....purposfull, like a potential track tool
  3. R33 newer...nope, ok yeh the first ones came out a couple of years later......but the 300zx was manufactured and sold until 2000. For £5k you will be able to a later 300zx...the number of 1995 onward examples about in the UK now in slowly increasing.
  4. From what I read, yes it is. I think The Manifolds look like they still out further becuase the new Plenum is'nt as wide
  5. Have a go with some Lifter treatment before ripping the top end off, you can get it from most motor factors, its magical stuff ;)
  6. The only time I have heard it like that is on a newly rebuilt engine with blocked oil feeds to one of the heads. The fact that it goes completely away once warmed up is a good sign though. How oil is the oil, whats you oil pressure gauge showing (any different to normal?)
  7. Yours is making that sound, but going away once warmed up ?
  8. Listening to this again....yes that could be lifters.....but in a very bad state....a completely dry top end would be make more of that knocking sound rather than a tap.
  9. :( I think you best get the car to your nearest garage asap so they can give it a quick diagnose. If its lifters then no worry, fine to drive car, try the lifter treatment and an oil change. If its bottom end bearings then it will get worse and will damage the crank and the lack of oil pressure may also damage the top end. :(
  10. Sometimes yes...depends how bad. As the metal expands...etc You can usually hear bottom end gone at around 2500rpm .....and usually accompanied with a low oil pressure reading
  11. Usually yes, they will get quieter....unless the lifter(s) have dried up and seized then no it will be permantly there or a bit quieter when warm, and the best treatment is a oil change and can of lifter treatment....or failing that replacement lifter(s). Do you have that noise and does it go away once warmed up ?
  12. That is most definatly not lifters.....that bottom end bearings. Lifter noise is a fast light tap at the very top of engine, which can also be VVT rattle.
  13. Greddy, Pentroof, Greg Dupree and Escort Racing offer options - I believe the majority of them being Inconel. There are SS Tubular versions, but they have cracking issues. The MSP (Mike Smith) Cast Manifolds are popular, as they offer the Flow of the Tubulars but without the cracking issues, or expense of Iconel.
  14. Escort Racing and Jun have made for there Z32 demo vehicles custom Inlet Manifolds/plenums for the Z32, but Im not actually sure if anyone has ever purchased one. There are various sources for Exhaust manifolds available.
  15. Belgium Zed owner : Anyone know the owner and have any more info ?
  16. Pencil me in as a maybe. Im in cornwall now, but may possibly make it down this way again around that time.
  17. Fantastic car !! :D I had a 535i Sport for 5 years, a decent one will still drive as good as new today, in fact better than most new cars. Plenty of power and pretty easy to control the arse end on it too. Not sure about the red interior though!
  18. I do believe the 1st meet was Myself, Greg and you.....and yours was the only Z there ! :) I have more pics of old meets here http://www.interwired.co.uk/zed/ its not been updated in a very long time but at the bottom are links to old meet pics

  22. Instead of freezing my ass of here till xmas Im going to freeze it off in france instead. Leaving tomorrow morning for a trip to Eurodisney then a bit of travelling around northern france. :hyper: See ya :)
  23. the large majority of TT's on this forum will have only gone as far as "up to 400hp" which only really requires a remap of the stock ecu which many traders do for around £100. Those that have seeked more power with much Bigger turbos have gone for the the likes of AEM, Zemulator, E-manage, Link , DTA, although many still use remapped stock ECU's still. Check out the rides section for high powered examples: Mac_1 _cj_ Machine paul300zx (there are others, but I cant remember) also check out http://www.300zxclub.com and http://www.twinturbo.net for U.S forums where there are a lot of high powered examples.
  24. Principals are the same for all turbocharged cars, its just knowing what each individual parts limits are.... Induction, Exhaust, ECU remap and 1 bar boost will give you close to 400hp flywheel. There are other tweaks there such as Lightened Pulleys, flywheels..etc Standard Injectors are good for up to 15/16psi max. Standard Intercoolers are pretty poor at anything over standard boost but are adequate up to 1 bar. Standard tubs are good for 16/17psi. Clutch can start to slip beyond 1 bar boost. Fuel pump and MAF are good for 500hp+ As said 400hp is relatively cheap, but to go higher you then need larger Injectors, Intercoolers, Turbos.....and for reliablity a fresh rebuild with forged pistons, new bearings, gaskets..etc.
  25. You need to get it back on a ramp, or get the rear end in the air and check for play in all the bushes with an assitant moving the wheel left to right, up & down..etc The most likely culprits are the inner and outer hicas bushes and worn rear shocks.
