Just some Clarification on Front brake upgrade
LOL Deal btw - Im all for Big brake kits....Im just adovating the use of properly working stock brakes for a road going Z. There are many misconceptions about Brake kits. Look at all the GTR and EVO setups readily available out there for Z owners to upgrade to, becuase GTR and EVO owners "upgrade" them. ..and so many poorly functioning stock Z brake setups unfortunatly.

Better traction=less distance :p ..and traction is affected by so many things - The actual tyres (inc size), suspension geometry, weight, weight distribution, weight transfer, aerodynamics.....

I've just googled dozens of websites that say its much higher, doesn't matter though. Its braking distance is due to its traction, not its actual brake setup.

we could exchange links to different figures all day, found loads ..... (btw, never use wiki for reference) its still Irrelevent.

Just looked up the Porsche gt2 and found figures from 110 to 117ft Boxser showing as 121ft anyway doesn't matter , their brake distance is not becuase of the brakes, its traction.

Your right, thats why I talked about legal speeds........at very high speed, there is a much higher kinetic to thermal conversion demand and larger brakes take advantage. Nissan fitted Iron calipers on the Euro models to deal with this, while the Import had the lighter alloy calipers until later years. For the road, a properly working stock brakes is a good setup. For the track, bigger brakes are pretty much a necessity. many will be suprised by this : Nissan 300zx Stock braking distance 60-0mph = 116ft Most modern family cars are more like 130ft the best high performance modern Sports cars are typically 110-120ft.

De badging the Z
2 pin holes Car_mad sells smoothed nose panels though if you wanted a quick and easy option.

lol, What that means is that Maximum braking is achieved at the point just before a tyre breaks traction. In a single stop at legal speeds, braking distance is pretty much entirely dependent on the traction available between the tyres and road surface , it is not to do with the Brake Torque. A larger brake setup can actually increases braking distance, becuase brake balance is usually affected, even if you replace rears too. Larger brakes come into their own on the Track. Where you require repeated high speed hard braking performance. Stock brakes are unable to deal with the high thermal energy demands in repeated hard stops and performance decreases - they overheat basically Bigger brakers also "feel" better - higher braking torque from a Larger disc radius and larger pistons will give a stronger initial bite and create more clamping force per given pedal pressure - You have to press less to brake as hard - but thats not braking distance.

Brakes dont stop a car. Tyres do. Stock Brakes will lock the wheels (kick in the ABS) at road legal speeds. Bigger brakes will do the same but with less pedal effort......the advantage is that they will allow you to do it over and over again.

Pics ! My Invisible passenger took a lot more driving shots than below but unfortunatly only a few came out reasonably clear through the vibration and dirty windscreen.- 25th April Meet
Great meet btw, really good turnout and good to meet new faces. The weather held out well. Will sort me pics out now.........- 25th April Meet
Yeh he followed me as I came out of carpark, then after we passed through traffic lights he positioned himself on wrong side of road behind me so he could watch you both as you overtook that Horsebox.....at which point he decided to overake me and give chase.- 25th April Meet
btw Si, spotted you in the Z last night, driving down "Wills road" opposite direction to me , Z looked stunning, really caught my attention before I even knew what it was.- 25th April Meet
Problems with Bmw :( , but im still coming :) Having to resort to using the shitheap Alfa that I was actually planning on scrapping this weekend  Meeting at the Pub Zogg suggested ?- Brakes - GTR or 350Z
They are the same. (apart from offset and rear fitment)- 25th April Meet
I dont know atm, I want to, but Depends If I can fix problem with my daily driver in time.- 25th April Meet
Shall we count how many meets you've been to....times it by 10 and then see if it comes close to how many meets I've been to ? ;)- Silicon sealant ( excess use warning)
eek, somebody certaintly went to town on the sealant with that one.- Heater hoses
MJP (in traders forum section)- Not been around much lately
Welcome back Mike. Sory to hear about the recent past but Glad to hear things are on the up.- Just some Clarification on Front brake upgrade
The GTR brembo's are straight bolt on. You want either R33 or R34. Note that both are the same, but the R34 caliper uses a larger bolt size, so you have to drill the holes in the stock hubs a little larger to fit, but a straightforward job. They use larger discs - 324x32mm vs the stock 280x30mm The Evo setup uses even larger calipers, but you need to have a bracket fabricated to mount them. The cheapest option ofcourse it to have your stock calipers refurbed. Fit braided brake lines, Better Brake pads and Flush and replace your brake fluid. The stock brake setup when working correctly is not bad. Bigger brakes aid in Heat dissaption to reduce brake fade and require less pedal effort but they wont actually improve stopping distances over a properly working stock setup on the road. - 25th April Meet
