Still can't get headlights to work
HID's are one of the best modifications you can make to the Z. The lighting differnence is like err...Night and day ! The 300zx has ellipsoid healights, unlike most other cars, which means fitting aftermarket HID's does not have the same scattered beam blinding affect like when people fit it to regular cars. They are also a 2 min plug n Play fitment.

BMW E39 540 or M5 ?
If you can afford the price difference, then defiantly go for the M5. The E39 is a fantastic series, superior than most new cars still these days, but the M5 is something special in itself. It has the Performance, looks and handling advantages over the Regular e39. The 1sec 0-60 difference is significant , but its even more significant if you look at the 0-100 with a 4sec difference ! Two very different cars.

Gauges

Gauges
Can anyone recommend me a brand of Aftermarket Gauges that ; a) offer Speedometer (100mm+), Tachometer (100mm+), Pressure (52/60mm) and fuel level (52/60mm) gauge! b) do not look cheap, tacky or garish. I have been searching on and off for months and about to give up. Pretty much most aftermarket gauges look cheap and tacky. They are clearly built to a very low budget. Im looking for gauges that would look at home as OEM fitment in a High-end car. Im very fussy and Im looking fine detailing and quality. One of the few exceptions is the Defi BF series, but unfortuantly their Tachometer is only available in 60mm (too small) and no fuel level gauge. Its doubtful but perhaps somebody knows of a gauge range that I've missed ?

How wide do 16's go?
Z UK rear alloys are 8.5" wide and come with 245 tyres as standard. UK fronts and Jap front and rear are 7.5" wide and 225 tyres If you want to fit wider tyres, and want stock Alloys then your better of getting yourself UK rear alloys, maybe even 2 pairs for front and rear. They also fill the arches better with the extra width and altered offset. As you go wider you will need to lower the profile however, to keep the correct rolling diamater so as not to affect the speedo or performance of the vehicle. You wont have any comfort issues with 16" wheels. Most Z owners run 18" wheels with 265/35/18 rear Tyres and it has very little affect on overall comfort. Wide tyre widths would be limited in 16", most wider tyres do tend to be in 17/18/19". http://www.camskill.co.uk/ are a popular online tyre supplier. 245/45/16 is what you'll be after.

slicktop project
your limited to a theoritical top speed of 196 mph with a 7400rpm limit, but your going to have to aim to hit the target speed at a lower rpm. The auto and manual use the same diff (ie same final drive ratio). If you want to keep the stock box, then your best bet would probably be a the rear diff from a Infinity (nissan) Q45. Your sacrificing low and mid range acceleration though which would more than likely be an issue with a 1.5 mile aim. Alternatively I would go with a 6speed Borg warner box, which has a 5th gear with a similar ratio to the 5th gear in a Z box, but then a tall 6th for top speed. That way you retain the cars acceleration and mid range with the added benefit of the increased top speed. May be worth considering the higher NA Diff ratio too, as it will still give you enough range for the top end with the T-56, but you will get there quicker with increased acceleration.

top gear-just silly now??
Still very funny, and still enjoy watching Clarkson and May, but Hammond is getting on my tits lately. He's just far too Cheesy and his "acting" is so fake and obvious. He was never as bad as that before, its like he is playing a Cartoonised version of himself.

Being able to see/read the dials
 The seat is 8 way adjusable! Each of the two buttons on the side move in 4 different directions. - move the seat base up/down at an angle - move entire seat up/down - Incline/recline Back rest - move seat forwards/backwards

Saw a strange car on the M4 last week.
Looks good. Definatly a hint of VAG about it.

Being able to see/read the dials
its an issue with smaller aftermarket wheels. STock is about 360/370mm In 6ft2 and tend to have the seat on as low as it can go, which makes a big difference.

The doman .cl relates to Chile. But thats irrelevent really, as its a site with links to magazine articles from all over the world (mostly U.S) on the 300zx.- Black key / red key
We never got that feature here (UK and Import models)- Black key / red key
Not being able to lock/unlock Glovebox.- for once justice has prevailed
