  1. Personally i like separate control over mine, let's face it it's never ever really foggy enough these days to use the rear one but i for one sometimes like the front ones on which are hid btw and amazing without the rear ones being on. Agreed i have an extra switch next to the gear shift that if i was to do again i probably wouldn't have but way back when my alarm guy without my consent put a led there also, so it's not alone and doesn't look too bad as it is a tidy black shallow red led rocker type, not a great big ugly sticky outy yellow rocker one !!
  2. Yes i know........think it's the first time anyone as paid any attention to my posts !!!
  3. Yep, top 5630 smd red bulb good choice, i put those type in the reverse lights .
  4. I feel your pain as i have some Blue Stratos and it doesn't seem to smell like i remember it !!
  5. On further inspection it seems when cold my pressure was not 1bar as stated previously more like 1.35 so i've dropped it down, this therefore the reason when operating it was nearing the red area methinks. What happens the filling loop does not fully close the valve iirc, so i shall disconnect it as i believe you should anyway and cap it off once i am 100% happy i have it settled at close to 1 bar in a day or so.
  6. I have 16 rads !! So hence this is the reason my reading shows a bit more than the norm then ?
  7. To cut to the chase Lee, it sounds to me like your expansion vessel needs some air, so pump it up !! I expect you might only have half a bar of pressure, check your manual but you'll probably need to get it up to 0.9 bar. Then check on your needle daily, bleeding a rad will reduce the pressure, filling loop will increase.
  8. At complete rest and cold, say first thing in a morning is the pressure reading at 1 bar or in the middle of the green bit ? I try to keep mine there, just noticed my boiler and it's just warmed the rads for the second time today and the needle is at almost 2.5 bar, will start falling now as it cools, still short of the red area, are you saying your boiler goes well into the red zone and then safety shuts down, hence your hot warm water tap you had running will of course go cold ?
  9. Yeah, i just got a rake through .
  10. Sounds like you're struggling Lee. I know a very good trustworthy gas safe plumber and let's face it they're worth their weight in gold, he worked tirelessly last summer with me finding a fault (unconnected to yours), charged very little and always advises buying the cheapest way, even looking on ebay together. Some or most don't care about your pocket like you've experienced, say buy this new from here today and it's £130.00 fit it - no better, oh it might be this so you fork out again - this i hate with a passion. Scrap metal places do have complete boilers and 90% of parts on them can be migrated, you may get lucky and find an identical one then you've everything to swap out at will.
  11. Blimey you have a lot of ballasts . I too have the H3 HID kit in the fogs and yes they work extremely well, one of the best mods i have done, i didn't use or need an adapter although i did have to cut and then bung up a 20mm opening iirc. The reason i have used big chunky 80w H1 bulbs is because anything smaller/less powerful would be a waste of time, 7.5w and the such like, i notice a lot of H1 smd bulbs on ebay but these are still too large in diameter to fit into the housing and would require 'butchering' to fit also - if you're going to do it might as well go the whole hog !! Taken on board what's been said and i shall get fit asap, flashing will be great fingers crossed, immediate, bright and so so white this is my main goal, more so than using for that extra vision on unlit roads, but if i get that as well and i do expect i will i'll be a very happy bunny :).
  12. You have a 99 spec boot spoiler there....nice one :cool3:.
  13. You nightcrawler you !!
  14. The majority of us have HID lights in our projector dipped or low beam and mostly these are white in the range of 4300 - 6000k colour. The main or high beam is another matter as a H1 HID light kits can be fit for sure but full lumens is not instant, so flashing is going to look weary and even on and off the main beam on an unlit road could lead to issues. Many months ago i bought these bad boys and here is a pic along side a standard filament 55w H1. I'm sure you can see there is a big difference with the led one being a massive 18mm in diameter, this will not fit in the stock opening so out with the dremel and open it up, it's aluminium so this isn't a chore. I have maintained the top right hand corner notch and one of the seating holes which still stops you putting the H1 bulb holder in incorrectly. A big gaping hole you might say but it doesn't really affect anything as the bulb holder locks in place exactly the same way, i have tried the standard bulb back in and it's no different to what it was before. The only thing i have done is because the led bulb is so long i have put some flexible heat resistant silicone where the bulb meets the holder and you can possibly see this on the first pic, just to help stiffen things up a little as i don't want visible shaking when i'm on the road. This new bulb will get warm, if that but no where near as baking hot as the filament one gets even after just a few seconds, so another plus. Here is a pic in the main beam housing Now some comparison pics to finish off with, clearly i have put in on the left a standard 55w bulb, one of those so called 'ice', 'xenon', blue tipped ones and you can see the colour difference, the led one is a colour now to match the HID lights, very bright and the light given off is bang there in an instant. This pic below tells it all i think against my garage door showing the given off colour difference. I will update when the time comes as i'm going for a new 99 insert headlight build but as i type these are untested in the car but all my bench trials have all led me to believe that these will be what i've been searching for .
  15. It's beyond a sad thread Mandy my dear and one i didn't enjoy reading. My best wishes go to you of course - i know how much you adored your car, as we all did x x.
  16. The car was off with both fog lights disconnected when you tested the contacts or was one burning bright ? Because your supply voltage will drop quite quickly with one running. Wonder also if you need to move the dial on the meter round a bit more, then you'll get two digits after the decimal point, could just be bouncing around at somewhere at 10.8 to 11.1 for instance with the setting you have it on, so all you see is 10 and 11.
  17. I remember seeing those when i daily search but never clicked on it.......until now when i see they're in my home town.
  18. You got me at the first pic . Certainly looks the culprit so happy days :cool3:.
  19. They might not be into that kind of thing :whistling:.
  20. Not painted no. The bulb i used iirc is like this a 'tall' one, not sure if it's a T4 base 100% though without checking. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2pcs-T4-Tall-Neo-Wedge-Dash-LED-Bulbs-Amber-Green-Red-UV-Purple-/191495906371?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c960ba443
  21. There's a stock bulb holder for it and that alone, so on the loom there's a 'lights on' feed and it's on this the blue back light strip is spliced. I am aware that not all switch assemblies have the bulb holder, so yours may be one of these ? Just like to add that it is only red because i have used a red led bulb, originally it would of been clear with perhaps a green rubber johnny on it !! Think it's one of those wedge T5 bulbs from memory - like the ones in the pods.
  22. I have to agree with Lee in post 2, when you get one without any wear and back light it, then get the bulb working for the red in my case's arrow, don't think it can be beat imo.
  23. If you want something brighter/better you'll have to pay that bit more. Nothing wrong with a red 21w filament bulb in that chamber and will pass MOT no bother, it's showing up very amber though for some reason !! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CREE-LED-1156-BA15S-12SMD-5630-Super-Bright-Red-Tail-Turn-Head-Car-Light-Bulb-/111592511237?
