Back from bodyshop tomorrow
Went up to bodyshop a couple of weeks ago and fitted all the new exterior trim. I took the targa panels away, stripped them and replaced the trim on them, along with new corner mouldings. Going to collect tomorrow and get it back home! I will then need to strip out the cream leather interior and replace the seats with my cobra ones. Will take some pictures and post up over the next couple of days.

clutch pedal issues
If the engine is off and i just go through the gears they go in perfect, it is only when the engine is running that they stiffen up almost like the clutch isn't engaging properly.

clutch pedal issues
Sounds like the problem i was having also, and in a way still have! The clutch pedal was biting on the floor at first and when it was bled it felt fine until the engine was turned on and then it disappeared again. I got the master/slave cylinder replaced with a new one as well as a new clutch line. The garage also removed the pedal box and readjusted the servo link back to where it should have been. The clutch pedal is a lot better but i find gearchanges are quite stiff and not as smooth as they should be especially after the car heats up or you are stop/starting around town. I have an RPS carbon clutch and it almost feels like it is on or off with no in between when pulling away. When i get the Z back from the bodyshop i was going to try and find a garage which specialises in aftermarket clutches if such a thing exists and let them have a look at it.

How to disassemble CAS
Cheers Jaffa, I will leave it until you have managed to sort yours out and then i will get it all done at once. I take it the "hiccup" will not damage anything as it just loses power for a split second?

How to disassemble CAS
Thanks Topless, Just had a quick look on the AEM forum and Jaffa has an outstanding question about the CAS which no-one has answered in the 300zx section. Would the AEM disc be a straight replacement or would i then need to do any remapping afterwards?
-
How to disassemble CAS
Thanks mate, will get on the phone to them. The CAS i have on the car is brand new with the new style plug as i replaced the engine loom. I have a spare old style CAS but the plug is different! Has Jaffa got the one you did on his car now and is it running ok?

How to disassemble CAS
I am running an AEM system with wideband sensors and Map sensor. Do you know what timing disc it is and where to get it? I would not attempt this myself as i would most likely break it!

How to disassemble CAS
Jaffa, I am getting a "hic-cup" at about 2500 rpm occasionally. How did you get on replacing the part inside the CAS? What exactly was it you replaced?

Cobra seat subframes
I have just had a moment of madness and bought a set of Cobra Misano's. Problem is i haven't thought about fitting issues until having a quick search through the forum! Anyway, i am now aware that i will need to do something to the subframe to fit them. I have a spare set of electric seats and wondered how easy it would be to remove the subframes from them and get them fitted to the new seats? Is it a relatively straight forward job for an engineering company to make the necessary modifications or will i need specific subframes?

Coolant overflow bottle
Cheers John, exactly what i needed to know. I will see if i can find pictures, can you remember where you got the smaller bottle?
-
Coolant overflow bottle
I think they are there for when the engine gets really hot and it can dump some of the coolant into the bottle and suck it back up when it is cooler. Not sure though?

Ups and Downs!
Well i went down to Centre of Gravity to collect the car on Tuesday and took it for a drive. WOW! It was amazing! Chris had done a top job setting the car up and it was getting all the power on to the road and was handling fantastic. I had a problem with a really low biting clutch which i thought just needed bleeding out but apart from that all seemed well. The Z was struggling to catch the idle when decellerating from speed and pulling up so i nipped down to Thor where Peter plugged the laptop in and changed the idle parameters slightly, job done. He advised me to test it and pop back in the morning if there were any other issues. On Wednesday i got up and again was having difficulty pulling away and put it down to either the clutch which was really hard to control or maybe the idle issue, so off i went to Thor again. Peter plugged the laptop in again and we did stops and starts but everything looked fine from the mapping point and the clutch was getting the blame. The guys tried to bleed out the clutch and thought they had got a pedal but as soon as i turned on the ignition and went to pull away it disappeared again! They checked the line and thought there was a small hole in it so decided it would need replaced. A line was fabricated and fitted and the bleeding commenced. After a while we kept getting the same result, with a pedal feel with the engine off and no pedal as soon as you started it up. There was no air in the system and it was starting to get quite late. In the end i had to get back to Glasgow so i got them to drop me at the airport and i managed to get a flight back and had to leave the car. I have now ordered a new Master Cylinder and slave and also a new line so fingers crossed for Monday! The guys also noticed one of the suspension bushes on the rear had pretty much given up and was needing replaced so i am now going to get this done aswell and Chris at Centre of Gravity will be redoing the suspension setup again! Not my best day with the Z and just as well i can laugh about these things! So close but yet so far!!!!

Coolant overflow bottle
The coolant overflow bottle located inside the passenger side wing in mine now has a hole in it due to my suspension set up letting the wheel just catch the very edge of it! i am looking at getting a smaller size bottle or alternatively getting one fabricated from aluminium that is slightly narrower. Anyone done this or any suggestions as to what to do?
