  1. The recreational league I played in for Slough was still contact but the recreational league in Scotland is non contact. As the other guys have said get comfortable on the ice first with the basics of stopping, turning and going backwards. When I was young the whole of my team were taught to skate by a figure skating instructor! It may sound funny but she taught us to skate like hockey players and knew everything about the techniques for turning and starting and skating backwards etc. A lot of my team went on to play at National level and I believe that being taught to do the basics well let them do this. Don't be afraid to go along and have a go with one of the local reccy teams. Once you have the kit on it doesn't hurt much when you fall and if they are a decent bunch of guys they will help you out and make you feel welcome.
  2. I played a lot as a kid and am also a qualified coach. I now play recreational and when I lived down south played for Slough. I played at Gosport a few years ago for Slough against the Navy team. What team r you joining?
  3. DO NOT GO NEAR THOR. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF THEIVING GITS :censored:
  4. So many options! I take it the Emerald will use the wheel sensors that the racelogic uses? I will get a clutch switch and once I have got the fuel pump fitted and the other little niggles sorted will need to get the other bits added. The car grips very well and had very little wheelspin although it had a bootfull of luggage and a passenger to weigh it down!
  5. Car drives great and will be good to get the fuel pump fitted to iron out the dips. Do emerald do the clutch switch or will i get one from racelogic? My Racelogic has the launch control feature which i would also like to use.
  6. Cheers Jimmer, will see if I can get one to try out. Is there anything else that could be causing the stiff changes when the car is running?
  7. What parts do i need to change it back to standard?
  8. I am toying with the idea of going back to a stock shifter to see the difference as I never ran the car without the short shifter. I feel that my gearchanges are slower than if I was using a stock setup but need to try it to be sure.
  9. Yeah, I have got it doing the boost control and rev limit come to think of it. I like the sound of full throttle shifting but need to get my gearchange issue sorted first! The longer 1st, 2nd and 3rd of the os giken box combined with the leader gears has got the car accelerating very quickly and it would be great if I could keep the throttle planted!
  10. Need a bit of help here, When the car is not running i can slide throught he gears very easily. When the car is running it is quite stiff to get the gears home. I am running a Z1 shortshifter but am wondering why it is harder to change gears when the car is running? Is there something mechanical i should be checking as well as the fitting of the short shifter? Cheers
  11. Yeah, the Z had not turned a wheel for about a year so was bricking it on the way down!! Nothing like a little 1000 mile trip to ease her in and empty my wallet of petrol money!!
  12. I am running a racelogic traction control system that was already on the car prior to fitting the Emerald. It is working fine as we forgot to turn it off prior to starting the car running on the dyno and it kept cutting in!! Soon as i turned it off we had no problems. I will be looking at what else it can do once i have run the car for a little while to make sure i have no niggling faults before building up the rest of the system. Know what you mean about Dave!! I explained that he was the expert and he had no chance of me understanding half of what he was saying and i left him to work his magic!! Top bloke.
  13. Well the road trip has just finished. Glasgow to Norfolk then onto Reading, Southampton, York and back to Glasgow!! Gave the car to Dave Walker at about 0930 and after he gave an explanation of what he was going to be doing i left him to it! Prior to going down i thought my fuel pump was going to cause me issues and unfortunately my uprated one did not arrive in time for the session so it was still running the stock pump. When i got back Dave said that it was struggling to get fuel towards the top end and it was down to the fuel pump. He set up a couple of different Maps for me to run as you can see on the Dyno sheet. The revs have been limited to 6200 until i get the new fuel pump installed. He has installed a 3rd Map that has the uprated fuelling map on it so i can change over to this once the pump is installed. I had no idea what boost levels the turbos would be able to produce and safely run and i thought he had set it up for only 15PSI but looking at the Dyno chart it seems to be a map at 15PSI and one at 20 PSI. They are GT675RS turbos and after a bit of research i think they can handle a few more PSI but i am happy with what i have just now. The car is very quick and drove faultlessly for the rest of the journey. The only thing i want looked at, is the gearchanges that are quite stiff. I think this is down to the shortshifter but will get it checked out.
  14. Made the journey down to Emerald yeaterday afternoon. Left Glasgow at 1430 and arrived at 2200 last night. I was a bit apprehensive as the car had not been on any decent journeys for quite some time but it ran very smoothly. Kept it below 3000rpm the whole way down. It is now in the hands of Dave Walker at Emerald and on the rollers at the moment. Will try and get a couple of photo's when i pop back!! Not really bothered about chasing big power figures i just want the car to be quick and driveable!! Will let you know how i get on later!
  15. Today John came up and fitted my Emerald ECU. He was up north on holiday and gave up his time to ensure I could get the car ready to take to Emerald on Thursday. The man is a true gentleman and I can't thank him enough for his time and expertise today. Cheers John!
  16. I have ordered an aeromotive in tank pump which can flow 34lph. Hasn't arrived yet but will post up what it is like once fitted.
  17. Got an update earlier today that the guys worked till 5am this morning and had finished the wheels, bonnet and left side!!! just got a text to say they were about to start refining the paint and tomorrow they are doing the waxing, glass and tyres. Sounds like a serious amount of work has been going on! Collecting it tomorrow evening to go back to the stereo shop. Hope it is good weather and not pissing down with rain! Will get some piccies up as soon as I can!
  18. Mine is over that way at the moment. Was it a wide arch?
  19. I am going to be using a pioneer avic-f700bt head unit and 2 JL amps, A HD600 and an HD750. We were going to go with focal speakers in the front and a thin JL Sub but Rockford Fosgate has just brought out a thinline Sub which has got great reviews so the installer is putting in 2 of the 12" ones in the boot and Rockford Fosgate or focals in the front depending which sounds best. The install is going to be very subtle and I gave the brief that I want to be able to use the boot as normal hence the shallow subs utilising the dead space below the flooring. The focus is on the sound quality as I don't care about how loud it is as long as it sounds good!
  20. By now I was hoping to have had the full interior back in the Z but as always I have again had to change my plans due to unforseen circumstances! The stereo installer was called this week for jury duty and apart from some soundproofing being fitted it hasn't been progressed. So I took the Z away this evening and gave it to a detailing company to give it a good going over! He has said he will be working on it until Friday evening and shall be doing a complete write up on it for a detailing forum. He will be taking about 300 photos as he goes comparing before and after. He is really enthusiastic and loves working on older cars and really likes the Z. I will post up some pictures when I get them from him on Fri. It will then be back to the stereo place this weekend to get the interior back in before fitting the emerald ecu and hopefully getting John Dixon to cast his eye over it before getting it mapped on 11th at Emerald. Really hoping that by the end of August everything should be pretty much finished and I will be able to just drive her!!
  21. Know what you mean about losing motivation for the Z. I got to the stage where I could not see the point in continuing on with the work but have bit the bullet and can finally see that the end is in sight. I just keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end. I did the grand total of about 100 miles in the last year and today just renewed the road tax again. Pretty expensive to just have sitting about and not being used. I decided to spend the cash to finish the project as I would get nowhere near what I have spent if I sold it. Time is always the main constraint and organising mapping etc can be a hassle but think of the results at the end! So pull your finger out and get it sorted!!!
  22. I have a spare set of the uk rear sear belts up for sale if you are going to do the conversion. Pictures etc are in the for sale section. Give me a shout if you want them! Cheers Barry
