  1. Swap it for a black one - they look much better (The sunstrip that is, not the eye) Si.
  2. At mid-range revs it does, after 5 or 6K rpm, it sounds like a sparkler - "kkkkkkkkkkkk" - which is very bad, since the damage done is done much faster at higher revs. A voice of experience? O yes - that's what happened to my first engine, with a knackered blower! (One bank running rich, i.e. no damage, the other running super lean - meltdown!) Si.
  3. And actioned too I see. Thankyou
  4. Which Z owner has won some money on the lotto then?: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2884 IMO, this z is let down by the dodgy sun-strip: (would be better if it was the same colour: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2881
  5. My dyno graph from last year @ T&M autos in Colchester, Essex: (354 rwhp) http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=70 ... there's six runs traced on the graph, the dip which is around 5 - 6K RPM is clutch slip on my previous clutch, ACT with street disc. Since then, I've replaced the knackered turbo (above graph was produced with only one fully working blower), and got an HKS triple plate clutch, so ought to take it back for another go on the dyno, as I can feel the car is making a lot more power than before. Note to mods: Can we have a dyno section? Or better still, a link from our the members details page? Tony... good results mate! Simon.
  6. ..."funny looking tray anyway. Hang on; its the bloody sump, what the hell happened there?" (Couldn't resist sorry - just got back from work, has been a l o n g day) :)
  7. HI Vijay, When I got my Nismo 555's they didn't come with the two O-rings that each injector needs. However, assuming you're installing into your standard fuel rail then just order some new standard ones. Cheers Simon.
  8. I've heard that too, but its clearly false, as you'll find when your engine is complete. However... what _will_ cause you to get lumpy idle, (and this is often found where people have coinsidently upgraded to 555's), is if you have some racing cams installed. HKS ones for example _will_ give you a lumpier idle - fact. I've had the pleasure of being passenger in an R32 with 555's / HKS cams / HKS tubbies / HKS IC, which rode kind of like this: lumpy to 1,200, little power until 3,000, but then a huge power band from then on. So Mr Williams analysis of the 555=lumpy idle, is complete testicles. (racing cams DOES = lumpy idle however!) Simon.
  9. If someone could lend you a conZult / Consult / DIY circuit (http://forum.ztechz.net) - then that should rule out the AFM / other sensors since you can perform real time logging of the sensors. I thought for a moment it could be a dirty hot wire in the AFM, but that would cause you to run rich not lean, which is a bigger cause of det. Perhaps the components in the actual AFM circuit has gone way past its original tolerance? But unless somebody can find a company that can test AFMs then I guess you need to borrow a known good one from somewhere. HTH Simon.
  10. 51x - If I were you i'd get your car checked out - sounds like its running far too rich / you've got a vacuum leak. "Piston clatter" - barely audible, and besides it lasts about "Lumpy idle" - mine is running just as sweet on 555's as it was as standard. I've said this before, but there're plenty of people here is JE pistons / 555's an I'd bet they're all more than happy with their idle.
  11. Advan Racing are part of Yokahama I believe.
  12. Blimey Check out some of the other footage on the scifi.com/happens site. The one with the ladybugs looks a bit CGI though, esp when seen on the guys hand. Some complete freaks hanging out in the discussion forum though. But I guess we're used to that :D
  13. They are genuine nissan parts, and surprisingly cheap too: 1000540P10 - slinger engine - £7.36 1000630p10 - slinger engine - £8.80 Si.
  14. A little closesr to home: http://www.severienmotorsport.nl/Pictures/r34tree.jpg http://www.severienmotorsport.nl/Pictures/r34tree2.jpg Si.
  15. :) I have to admit that, that particular picture may have been a contribution towards my decision to buy a Zed. :)
  16. A trees strength really depends on its roots. The trunk looks to be over a foot wide, so its going to take some considerable force to break it. Especially when planes still can't topple them! http://www.noelchenier.ca/646crash.htm oops :)
  17. LMAO at "The 3.0litre engine is Non Turbo so rather Quick to say the least." - plank! Regarding the name though, aren't they Modena-esqu wheels? Even if they are, its no reason to say its a 'Modena version'. Bit like saying Iains got the limited 'Azev' edition :)

  19. Kin ell mate!! Not good! Did you put the dipstick guide back in right position?
  20. Blimey, Pete's 'off the shelf' chip for my 555's is a George Best already :duffer:
  21. These pics don't actually show the bolt holes, but you should be able to work it out. Two bolts for each sling, all of them in the cylinderhead.
  22. The driver was one of those tree-hugger types then!
  23. The ECU is a JECS Hitachi
  24. The brown line you can see is the plenum gasket. The other dubious mark to the left is one of the visual 'features' from the original machining :) Lots of casting marks and flashing, but the dents are probably grip points from where factory mills clamped the plenum before facing.
