Removing engine
..and remove the O/S exhaust downpipe - that's the only part which'll get caught behind the steering UJ's otherwise. You might require lots of 'PlusGas' to loosen the nuts n bolts though. And a question for the masses here: why are the turbo bolts etc all 1/2" and not a metric size like _everything_ else on the car?? Si.

Diff And Tranny Oils
For once your local Nissan dealer will be able to help here! - You'll require the Nissan 'XZ' gear oil (thats XZ not ZX :)) - Should be about £5 or £6 for a litre. But, depending on the condition of manual box, you may wish to fill up with an aftermarket oil. HTH

And i thaught i could blow engines up
That is quite amazing! Esp since he turned some forged pistons into lumpy kinder eggs! He must have blipped 10K or 11K rpm if he shifted into 2nd!

If only you'd seen what I've seen this weekend..
;-) First of all: Is there anyone due to come back from lunch? If so get them to meet you (in their car) at the nearest dry point (upper loading bay for example), and get them to give you a lift to your own car - which of course gives them the added bonus of hassle free parking, since they can park in your space! hows at den?

ZclubDrag Pics
I'd be very interested in catching the git who attacked the number plates with spray paint :D Good pics though - I'd like to see a close up of the engine bay in the Black Zed with the yellow / gold pipes. Cheers Si.

Re-con Alternators or alternative
My alternator has been bugging me for ages now... Has a constant screech (not the belt though) and everytime any load is applied, i.e. turn on the lights, etc, the noise gets louder. Now, its definitely not belt related, and when I took the alternator out to see what was going on, its clear that it's coming from inside, perhaps knackered bearings? Since if I turned the pulley by hand, it makes a kind of quiet squeel. Any suggestions on where I could get a re-con'd one or another one for a decent price, since a new one is mega bucks! Cheers in advance Si.

SE chip
The internet rejected them! LOL :D (They did have a web site, and about 18 months ago, but it disappeared one day. They kept saying, "Ooo we're designing a new one", but it never appeared.)

What is this country coming to???
Bah!!! Lin-COLON-shire CC are bunch of goat blowers IMO: 1. for reasons already stated above, and 2. For charging me £200 in repairs, to a little grey post in the middle of a gravel trap on some hairpin bend several years ago. On a more serious note, I thought *any* emergency vehicle (with Red n Blues) are allowed to go beyond the speed limit, regardless of whether or not a persons life is at stake? Local plod for example, Ford Fieta rozza car doing 80MPH through a 30 at night? (Which seems to happen regularly up Valley Rd in Ipswich) Life or death, bo11ocks - they've probably got wind from control that somebody has been spotted on a bicycle without a rear reflector! Berkshire Hunts! :D

Aint knives and sharp glass Brilliant...
Only just read this thread for the first time! I hope the past ten days have seen to healing the injuries a bit. I'm sure the polices responce to any violent crime in the near future will be: "It's cos you live in the UK innit!" - twáts. Also, having just got home from the pub with Katy sends a shudder down my spine thinking the 'What if it was us' thought All the best, and hope the scum have a nasty untimely departure. Simon & Katy.

How many cars have had full body kit or plan on kit
Warren, how about an option for "Got the body kit, just havent't fitted it yet" - since thats my predicament. In fact, I've had the full kit in my shed for 18 months now  , but waiting for the car to be 100% mechanically sound before doing the aesthetic mods.

Pulleys and assemblys for Timing belt change
Hi Gio, I can't answer all your questions there without spending age looking through all of my receipts, BUT.... I bought from Courtesy Parts last year, both new idler pulleys and a new tensioner assembly. One of the idlers was *loads* more than the others, and the tensioner was i guess about £200 Problem is, I've got loads of receipts in a big heap. If I get a chance to look through them I'll let you know what I paid. IMO its best to change em all while you've got the belt off / engine out, since all of my idlers had a small amount of play in them, which would only get worse since they're 11 years old. My arguement is: its cheaper to change em NOW for £xxx, rather than paying £2K for a complete engine build plus new valves n' stuff if an idler destroys itself!

Lovely Veilside Cii Z
Good work Syko! looks great. Only thing that lets the wheels down, is the under size rear tyres. Simon.

Engine Re-build Costs??
Hi Eddie, Welcome to the "Super rich SE chip" club! :) If you're going to be running in new cylinders, get yourself an HKS Super AFR fitted before driving the car after its recuild. You use it to lean the mix off a bit, otherwise you run the risk of glazing the bores - which I can only speak of from first hand experience. Dead easy to setup. MAC1 bought one recently, and I believe he has good words to say too. Good luck Simon.

engine stand bolts
Hi Vijay, Use the four large gearbox bolts, has worked fine for me twice. ;-) Cheers

Anyone for an ACT clutch???
Hi Andy, I wouldn't get the street disk for your car - reckon you've got more ponies under the hood than I have, and the ACT was slipping on the dyno :( So....saving pennies for an HKS twin plate (or similar) £1200-ish. BTW, this means I have my ACT for sale, and am open to offers, but you'll want to buy a new friction disk since mine has been cooked :D (Not even a rear old yet - got box, stickers, etc)

HKS Mega Flow: Bad experience
Cheers Warren - that link was exactly the sort of thing I was after. Funny you should mention that breather kit - still got mine unopened at my mums house, as far as I'm concerned it can stay there - lol Stu, you got the Apexi then I take it! (Cheers for the email reply the other day btw!)

HKS Mega Flow: Bad experience
I can quite believe it Mark! Like I say I'd done 3500 miles, of which the first thousand was under quite conservative conditions since I was running the engine in. Have been having a look and the Apexi filter - looks pretty cool, and sounds like its got the best filtration on the market, but I have a open mind, so if anyone has a better suggestion that would be great. Thanks again
