Excessive fuel usage.
motor way - 25 to 27 Miles per gallon Around town - 14 to 16 Miles per gallon Holding on for dear life - 7 - 8 Miles per gallon That's me. sounds about right for these cars, they are not the most fuel efficient engines to be perfectly honest, but damn are they fun.

Arc welding question
i have body repair hammers and body filler :D But on a more sobering note, how dangerous are run flat tyres, i had the rear wheels off the car the other day to sort out the brake pads and found out i had a flat tyre on the rear and didn't even realise? not sure when it went flat but it wasn't like that before November as i checked all the tyre pressures just after i had; had that accident and it was fine then???

Arc welding question
well so far ive sorted out my rear fog light that i managed to tuck in the crumple bar behind the rear bumper to get it out the way, and then forget to take it out when putting the bumper back on lol Sort out the none functioning rear number plate bulbs, break pads front and rear, and acquire a new front fog light (thanks andy isherwood) as the glass fell out, i ran over it and then moaned how someone could be so careless as to leave a chunk of glass in the road (didnt know it was from my fog light until after i had binned the glass lol) Just need to get the pipe welded onto the rear of the exhaust, sort this hole out and patch up the bit of sharp metal near the tail light from my run in with a central reservation barrier last year. and it should be good to go.

what is your 0-60mph ?
well, my turbo timer says i get from 0-60 in 4.6 seconds with 1.2bar of boost, stock tubs, stock internals, stock inter coolers, HKS air filer, GGredy ECU, boost jets, straight through decat power flo / divorced waist gates, mongoose back boxes, short shifter, not sure on clutch or flywheel. I have not got a clue on BHP but shouldn't be far off what your is with the mods im running. *NOTE* i wouldn't think that the turbo timer is very accurate lol

Arc welding question

Arc welding question
it doesn't have to be neat or look pretty, as it will get sorted at a later date, its just to get it through the MOT, i cant afford a mig welder and have the use of a arc. unfortunately i don't know anyone with a mig welder. i need to get the car on the road to start work again. its kind of a catch 22 situation. i have work available too me, but need the car to get there, yet need the job to fund the car lol At the moment i have enough cash to sort the car out and a little bit extra as a fall back, but that's about it, which is really annoying as i have a job to start at the end of the month AAAARRRGGGGHhhhhHHH!

Arc welding question
Unfortunately I'm on very limited funds at the moment due to a personal life problem that cropped up not to long ago. so my only option is to try my self. i need to get the car on the road before the end of the month, no two ways about it. the hole is less than 5p in size, but still a MOT failure due to location. until i get things sorted out im limited to doing all the work my self. it doesn't have to be the best job in the world, but needs to be a good one if that makes any sense as it will be under the scrutiny of a MOT tester. once ive sorted my self out a bit more ill be getting the proper panels and getting the job done correctly as at some point this year i want to get her fully resprayed ready for summer, or during summer.

Arc welding question
What amps would i be looking at and what rods to do a sill repair? checking over the car today before the MOT next week and stuck me bloody finger through the rear sill down near the rear wheel arch, i just need to patch it to get it through the MOT until i can sort out some replacement panels from MJP at some point and get it done properly. I have a 130amp arc welder just need to know what rods id need to use and what setting to put it on so i don't put more holes in it, and i get a good weld.

Computer wizard needed.....
Seems to be a lot of misconceptions going on about programs and moving them, you can move programs to an external harddrive and still get them to run depending on 1 thing, your operating system, if its windows xp, vista and windows 7 you will be fine moving games over and certain programs as windows will fix the registry entries its self and all you have to do is create a new short cut for the game from the new location. if he has xbox live you will have to reinstall it to the external harddrive. steam is another one that will not run once moved as even when installing to another harddrive it will put a steam folder in your C drive (local) (you can still run steam from the other hard drive so long as you do not move the steam folder out of your c drive that it puts in there. Best way though to make sure that there are no conflicts, would be to just uninstall everything you can, and when it asks to delete configuration / save games or info, state no, and then reinstall everything on the external harddrive, this way it keeps the save folders, and just copy them from the c drive into the new location *sometimes it saves save games and info in the documents folder, sometimes in hidden system files with in documents. My only concern would be, that in doing so you are actually going against what you are trying to achieve and that is speeding up the system. moving large amounts of files from the parent hard drive onto a external will actually slow things down as the transfer rate over USB is a lot slower than IDE / SATA, even if the hard drive is rated the same. Most problems with slowing down of the system especially on start up can be attributed to what you have starting up, if you have a lot of icons down by your clock for instance, windows has to load all these in before it even lets you take full control of your system, these then sit in your ram and hog it. Most programs dont need to start when windows does as half the time your hardly going to use them for the day, yet they like to start so they are ready to go, Winamp is a prim example of this. Best way of stopping a program starting when windows does, is right clicking the icon in your system tray (down near your clock), going to options and deselecting "start when windows starts" or its equivalent. on rare occasions this is not present and you will need to stop it starting by running MSCONFIG from the run command and selecting "selective start up", but id advise you read up on that program before you use it as it can stop your system from starting completely if you stop the wrong thing. Best way of speeding up any system now a days is looking at upgrading, CPU getting old? Less ram to run more ram intensive up to date programs, time for a upgrade. Biggest problem with laptops is, they tend to be hard to upgrade, acer for instance used to use ram specially made just for there system so upgrading would be a nightmare.

Speakers
if you can get access to the inside of the iphone dock, just wire it up to the speaker thats already in it. might not sound very loud (though would depend on how loud the system is already) you should be able to tell if the speakers work or not. All you would have to do,is unscrew the unit (please note this would most likely remove any warranty you have on the device unless its already out of warranty) locate the speaker cables and just wire up the speakers to that one. doesn't have to be a neat job, just make sure the speaker wire is attached to the speaker wire and nothing else. no desoldering required. just unscrewing and removing the case to expose the wires.

My Roman Coin Stash
Pablito, main thing collectors appreciate more is a unclean coin, i know it sounds strange but it adds character to it. Its just like if you ever find a very old gun, never clean it up, to a real collector it is more valuable and every time you try and clean that 120 year old crap off it, you devalue it by a few thousand.

SKY TV Problem
Jmwuk, i think you are missing the point entirely, the sky box is a large part of the sky package whether you paid for it or not. comparing using one to driving a Nissan is just plan silly, you can still do everything you want to do if your car is off the road by other means. yet when your sky box packs up, as its part of the sky package and you need it for viewing, then yes they have a obligation to replace the box for free. If you don't buy a tv licence, it doesn't stop you reciving the channels and as freeview is just that "free to view" then they hold no obligation over replacing the box you got from tesco's. Sky sell a service and if its not "fit for purpose" then they have to sort it out, its not like you can plug a virgin box in and receive the same channels with your sky viewing card, i pay a total of £70 minus phone call charges for my sky, thats every channel minus the sky sports package, talk unlimited and unlimited broad band. they changed my box once already and gave me a older model that had already been refurbed as the sticker was still on it. it is now playing up where it goes out of phase on the refresh rate making it unwatchable. they will be replacing my box soon free of charge. As for the iphone comment, if you have a white screen of death, in or out of warranty, apple will replace it for free.

Speakers
if its just speakers and you have some speaker wire and a home system that you can wire them up to, they will be fine for testing on your home system before you add them to the car. don't worry about the car speakers being 4omhs and the stereo at home being 8omhs as all you are doing is testing. easiest solution, if they work on your home system, wire them up to the car.

******* fuels gone up, how much is it costing to fill up now?
So, what i want to know, is now we are having hard times to get the country out of dept, what happens when we finally achieve this goal? or will they leave the goal post alone and come up with another excuse? Dont get me wrong i understand and in a strange way i support it. but can we really trust things to go back to a reasonable level once and IF we actually drop our dept.
