  1. Fuse box is bone dry even though the Targa pipe had popped out? Now what? Battery terminals are tight, sorted Targa drain plug out I'm at a loss as to what it is?
  2. Traced it to what looks like a leaky Targa drain again, battery is 12.5v but there is a puddle under the fuse box ffs
  3. Just went to get the rest of my stuff from my flat, drove up there fine, just got every thing packed in the car, went to start it, got all lights on the dash turn the key and nothing, not even a clicking everything else works fine accept ignition???

  5. Nope, should slot in, you have the OEM gearstick so its not a short shift problem, to me that sounds like the clutch needs adjusting like ive said before.
  6. 2.2 second 60' and 13.3 with a terminal speed of 110, if i hadnt of wheel span id of been in the high 12's thats for sure.
  7. second astravan post in 2 days, both to do with MOT? in that case, is it the Mk 4, if so can you have a ganders at the thread i put up yesterday in the non zed related section, you would be the best person to ask about it as you have one, but how do the rear shocks and springs fit?
  8. Black on a red car has been done to death, silver goes with pretty much anything, gold looks good but not many people like it, though i do. depending on style of wheel and color of car they are mounted on. I think the gold look good on your car, BUT the standard silver looks slightly better in this instance, as the gold doesn't really go well with the red of the car. Though its ultimately down to you.
  9. i wasnt beaten though lol, if you notice he pulled away, i caught him and went past him once my tyres got grip, and you can just see my timing lights light before his :)
  10. Finally found a video of me going up santa pod track, this was my 3rd run, the VXR pulled nicely off the line as i wheel span (thats me wheels spinning), but i got him lol ltAreWd-OTA
  11. Well pretty much asked the question in the thread title. Basically, got a mate who has a lowered van on springs, now her springs are 50mm, but she is saying the MOT guy has told her she needs short shocks as the springs will wobble and fall out due to the shocks being higher? Now im not up on Astra vans, so not sure if the shocks and springs are separate, or if they are one unit like our zeds, if its one unit, then surely there should be caps to help seat the springs, if they are separate then again, surely there are end caps to bolt to the body work at some point, i cant see why they would be free floating, because if you go to the top of the travel, then yes they would indeed fall out? considering its a 2001, van i cant see this due to safety concerns? there are plenty of places to buy lowering springs to use with normal shocks floating about for her van. so is this something her MOT guy is actually feeding her a load of *****cks on?
  12. i moved my surround speaker off the wall to hang it lol
  13. Notice anything? (its not faded, its the light from the window)
  14. Ive hard solder a S2 PTU in using this diagram, its the same wire for wire apart from the earth lead, check the wire colors, i have bright pink with colored stripes wires on my new engine loom, where as the PTU wires were black with colored stripes, but the inner colors (the stripe color) was still the same, also make sure you get the orientation around the correct way, S1 PTU, is labeled E on the end of the numbers, S2 PTU has numbers with the E already on them, embossed into the casing, its not as complicated as it looks.
  15. Half and half matey, how i received it, never did get the rear of the manual prop.
  16. Not sure on the clutch disengaging, but if its constantly slipping, this would give him the symptoms he describes, (high revs to pull away, heating up while driving) You can rotate the gearbox and diff by hand, we had to, to get the prop-shaft bolts as we undid it in the center, it rotated smoothly and easily. The gearbox oil is the same stuff ive always used, which is 75W 90 GL-4, as specified by the manufacturer. (this is the stuff http://www.autosessive.com/9/section.aspx/270/Comma_Gear_Oil_SX75W90_GL4_1L) and never had a issue before using it. Nothing "extra" its a bog standard flywheel, bog standard friction disk (although brand spanking new out the wrapper) and bog standard OEM pressure plate. Not sure what you mean by "mods", the gearbox came off my blue zed and was working perfectly before the car was parked up, it sat with gearbox oil in it for around 6 months, before being removed from the car around 3 weeks ago and emptied. (cant see how a gearbox is going to suffer in 3 weeks with no oil in, as most of the parts will still have a layer on them) Not sure on his diff, he managed to stall a AUTO in my carpark before we even got the car in the air, so not sure what that's about. could be the diff, but cant see it being the gearbox, unless either the drain plug has come undone some how, the filler plug has come undone some how, or the silicone tube has come away that by passes the gearbox cooler.
  17. How did you get on with checking the oil drain plugs? we are not sure what you have done so far, did you put that rubber boot on? Anyway probable causes. - Dust boot not installed correctly (thats the boot you missed out in the cabin that goes over the gearknob) - Low oil / no oil - Wrongly adjusted clutch so its slipping all the time and heating the gearbox up (which it could be if you are struggling to get the car moving) so night be worth checking it (http://forums.nicoclub.com/how-would-i-adjust-my-clutch-pedal-t401880.html) (Sounds like it could be this as we never got a chance to adjust it correctly)
  18. the nut in question is just an adjuster, just cut the bloody thing off and replace with a suitable one, i had the same dumb valves, removing the nut doesnt do anything to them apart from remove the nut from the top and leave them fully adjusted. what ever gave you the idea that if you remove it, its going to bork the BOV?
  19. im moving next week, rooms full of boxes
  20. never been told "im the nuts" but ive been told im nuts though. lol
  21. Most welcome hun, glad you got it sorted or id of had to put packing on hold and come down to sort it lol
