I,m 45 and i ache like a bitch after half an hour on the Xbox !!

The top pipe rubber tapers bud , i fitted an inline adapter and the pipe was a snug fit one end and baggy the other and had to be tightened really well to stop leaks this showed up another problem cos there,s now two very short pipes with the adapter in the middle instead of one about 8" long there,s not much flex left and it caused one of mine to split at the jubilee clip , luckily for me i was passing Z centre athe time and Luke came to my rescue . I had a little boss welded onto my top pipe , drlled and tapped , didn,t cost much and looks alot neater as well .HTH

I removed mine and fitted a leccy one , connected to the original leccy fan wiring and it cuts in when needed just perfectly , i also fitted a manual switch just for peace of mind though .HTH

Congrats on the car bud , this was one of the cars that inspired me to respray mine blue , always thought it looked stunning , i didn,t realise the lump was shot though ! If your quite mechanicly minded , pulling the lump isn,t as bad as it looks , just take lots of pics, box and label everything else ! lol. There,s so much crap that can be junked while your doing an engine swap and so much that probably needs replacing as well, pipes , wiring connectors just to start with but once they,re done , they,re done ! Have you checked the two nuts that hold the track control arm to the bottom arm , if these aren,t tight enough you get a knock when you first brake as the movements being taken up , just a thought as you said it was happening before doing your brakes , also check the bottom arms havn,t cracked around these nuts as that,s quite a common as well . HTH
