  1. The car is clearly a labour of love and is very fit for use as a highly modified show car. Clearly it is what the judges like as well else it would not win anything. Jason has got to a stage where it is probably getting difficult to do anything else to it because it has had so much done. I cant wait to see it in the flesh one day.... Airbrushing can work really well, I thought about getting mine done under the hood with blue electrical bolts, or some japanese cartoon girl or something. But on reflection I thought it might have been too much on my car so decided against it. Looking at the older and newer pics I like it both ways but preffered the look of it before, and think the silver wheels gave it a bit of contrast as well. Not the type of car I would want to own as its not in my taste but thats just a personal thing. I like certain aspects of it but im not a wide arch lover. Im sure its very inspirational to those who love highly customised and modified zeds. I looked at lots of pictures of it before I started my own build. But "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" or "the beast" in this instance. I am really pleased for Jason and glad he holds the flag for us 300zx owners at these things. If we all liked the same things there would be a lot of single women out there! Well done bud, you have done really well yet again.
  2. I relocated as much as I could reasonably do on mine, but left the battery tray as I have a big audio build planned for the boot. Also because mechanically it was a big build I have a big rad etc and pipes for NOS etc. Where you gonna put the power steering pump bud? Mines not that extreme http://www.project300tt.com/2010/05/24/all-together-now/ but it has a cover at the back hiding a few bits but it looks nice without it as well as it is all done with braided hoses, but sounds like you are trying to get to another level?. Most time consuming bit is the fuse box.
  3. This exact same thing happened to mine, jacked it up and instead of the trolly jack moving the car did and it hit the same pipes and put a big dent right in the front of the pan. Mine would knock when you turned it over as well. I bought and tried a spot weld slide hammer dent puller to get mine out as I did not want to remove the pan unless I had to. It did not work at all and just ended up ripping holes in the pan. On the plus side the knocking will simply be the bottom end hitting some veins in the bottom of the sump pan. I bet you a sack of potatoes that there will be no other damage. But running it will scrape a lot of metal and could do a lot of damage that way. Repairing it is quite a tricky job, it is a good days work if you do it with the engine in. 1.Basically you need to undo the bolts that go from the bell housing into the brackets that bolt to the back of the engine block. 2. You can then access all sump bolts from below the car, work your way around and remove them all. 3. You need to make sure that you use axel stands on the front of the chasis rails, then support the weight of the engine using a hoist. 4. undo your shock absorbers from the top and undo all the front suspension and bolts that hold it to the chasis, as well as steering coupling etc 5. Drop the front suspension away from beneath the car.. there is NO WAY you can get the sump out and back again with the sealer on without doing this. At first it looks like you can get away with it but you cant!!. 6. Stick new sump on and do everything in reverse.
  4. No I disagree when you imply I should go elsewhere, its not personal I was stating an opinion. Trying to help the place, give suggestions based on my experience that could help the place. Instead I now feel like I am some kind of troble maker or something. I have only ever offered my help to this site and its members. My time here so far has been enjoyable, im not looking to throw myself on a sword. But you cant get heavy handed and start getting personal whenever someone has an opinion or suggestion. Doing that will just cause more problems long term.
  5. Comments like I will close the thread, hes a trouble maker, blah blah blah. It just seems a bit heavy handed and confrontational to me.
  6. I know where he posts and chose not to flounce.. but again its got nothing to do with him. There is no Si conspiracy theory stuff going on here. I dont have problems with him or anyone else on here so I continue to choose to post here not there. This is exactly what I and others have been talking about, I get drawn into giving my opinion. I was trying to be constructive and now I feel victimised for doing so and it is being implied that I am some kind of terrorist cell or something?. I then get told it is because like (many others) I am loosly friendly with someone that got a ban.
  7. Si has nothing to do with it, I have not brought him up in this my remarks are general ones. If I wanted to throw myself on a sword for him I would have done it at the time. It was not my desision to make, I did not get involved and dont intend to be drawn into it. It has nothing to do with me what happens between you guys and him is your business. I just think that that some of the comments on this thread and others from a moderation point of view probably cause more problems than they solve with the members. No one here disagrees that if we have trouble makers they need sorting out me included. But maybe just remember that this site is here to provide a service to its members and as such they should be treated in a way that they find condusive. Im pro this place not anti it, I have NEVER had an issue with any of the members here ever. I have been here for a year with a completely clean bill of health, but something did need saying. On that note I close my case your honour...
  8. Most do most of the time I agree with that, im not talking about specifics just stating that maybe some of the mods need to be accountable as well as just the members?.
  9. At this point I will I dont think its some of the members on here, I think it might be one or two of the moderators. Everyone knows it but no one says anything, I think the admin team here really need to have a serious think about how they run things and who they have doing it for the reasons stated in this thread. And no I have never upset anyone on here been rude or offensive to members or anything like that. Quite the opposite in fact! Like others I just want to express an opinion in an open and honest way without it being twisted into something its not, breaking some rule somewhere, or getting on someones hit list. Well if an "opinion" does that then it kind of goes to show what everyone has been saying all along.
  10. Max bites his tongue for fear of "posting with intent" or breaking some other rule by accident as he has had a drink tonight :winkiss:. OMG this place really is getting like George Orwells 1984 :scared: I must conform... I must conform... think of fluffy kittens. :whistling:
  11. I have another bad one that sticks in my memory I did a PADI diving course, and on the last evening before the final dive I had food poisoning. I was on the crapper like ever ten minutes all night, I decided to do the last day to qualify. I was on the last dive of the day when I got real bad stomach cramps.. you know the kind where you just have to go. I thought no worries I will just swim over here and pull my shorts down and go as there was no way I was going to make it back to shore. I discretely moved away from the other divers and pulled my shorts down. In a massive belt of painful relief I emptied my load. Just as I was finnishing a load of divers started poping up underneath and around me. It was a dive instructer a bloke his mrs and his daughter. OMG they must have been surfacing and seen me having a dump above their heads whilst showing all.
  12. When I left school my first job was as a car salesman for a used car lot in Portsmouth. All our cars were pieces of crap that were tarted up so we could sell them. I remember a silver mk1 fiesta that was part exchanged. It was a one owner car with low miles but they lived right on the sea front. It was the most rotton car that I have evr seen holes even in the middle of the doors and wings, it was a scrapper really. My old boss said no.. thats not a srapper we will re spray it stick some pug in it then it will be a decent one owner low milage car. It came back from the bodyshop and looked good in the showroom. A customer came in and I took him for a test drive, It was a hot summers day and he spanked it down the motorway. We both opened our windows and a few minutes later there was a loud creek and a bang. The rear window had poped right out the back of the car. We pulled onto the hard shoulder and all you could see was filler and newspaper round the edges of where it used to go. OMG I was really stuck for words my low milage beautiful car had been exposed for what it really was a rustbucket filled with paper and filler.
  13. Not sure I guess it depends on exactly what the problem is? one thing for sure is that im real pleased Jimmer is doing it. Im not sure if there is anyone else on this planet that I would rather have work on it. Im finally looking forward to enjoying this car
  14. They are not quick, unfortunately the crappy F1 drive train and lousy clutches make them slow and you are always worried about breaking the things. I have never owned a better looking car. You feel like a film star wherever you go as people take loads of pictures and videos on their phones. A manual one might be a bit better?. the F1 is a shoddy solution for a road car. I remember one night when a re mapped skyline really kicked my ass. We pulled in a layby after he overtook me. I told him that I was not nailing it as I had a new clutch to save a bit of face. Reality was I had done my level best to stay in front but it just did not have enough go in it. My Porker goes like lightning compaired to this but it just does not have the looks.
  15. hmmmm maybe "posting with intent" should be added to the AUP lol :innocent: you know not actually done anything wrong but capable of doing something?. Now that was just a joke by the way before I go and get myself in trouble for something that I dont know about as I have never read the AUP :helpsmilie:
  16. This is a picture of my old one, it sounded lovely but they are pretty slow. A lot of Jap stuff used to regularly take it out. Top end though good for around 200mph.
  17. Im not criticizing what you guys decide on or do, at the end of the day you give your time freely to the place. I am commenting in a a general way and not relating to specific people or situations. Its just my opinion from a users perspective. You can ban or do whatever you like at the end of the day its not my site. But from a constructive position I am meerly trying to make a few points or suggestions that could help the place longer term.
  18. I agree in part with that but never being sure what you can or cant post and how it might be taken does actually remove the fun in a lot of cases as well. The moderation on here is generally for the good of the place, but the lack of freedom of speech and opinion is very very frustrating from a users point of view even if you are not a "trouble maker". Im sure giving the members some proper input will only help the place.
  19. I have just read through all this and like many others I log on less and less these days. I think most people know that I own a largish internet company including a few social networking sites including faces.com profileheaven.co.uk and face-pic.com, a large international portfolio of dating and alternative lifestyle sites, mobile sites etc. All in all my stuff services over 20 Million members worldwide with in excess of 6 Billion page views per year. Most of our larger sites are run and moderated by volunteer members like this one with support tickets handled by my full time staff in the office. Anyhows I am fully aware of the challanges or looking after or moderating communities on line. In this sites favour the members are very friendly, and the social side of it adds considerable value to its users. On the negative side it seems to have far to many chiefs and not enough indians for the size of it. It is overly moderated and the stuff that gets deleted, removed, edited, or the reasons that people get banned for seems very very harsh. Traffic and users here is on a downward trend http://siteanalytics.compete.com/300zx.co.uk/ maybe because of some of the above reasons???. I tell all my guys that moderation should be "In the spirit of the site" not the "letter of the AUP" on our sites. A few things that would really help this place is a vote on contencious issues as without the users paying there is no site. Also listen to what the members want rather than telling them. You dont want one extreme or another but people want to have fun and be entertained at the end of the day. Have a steam room, let members discuss what they want how they want? it would do this place the world of good.
  20. Will be fun......... I just hope everything goes to plan.
  21. Dude serves you right for going to dogging locations, they only wanted to watch.
  22. When its run in I intend to shred some dynos lol, then shred some rubber :thumbup1:
