anyone here have experience of converting a barn / listed building?
I live in a Grade 2 listed property, I am also in the process of buying a Grade 2 listed Church to convert into offices. Generally its a real pain in the ass, expect everything to take twice as long to do and cost twice as much. Even silly stuff that your neighbour could do without permission could cost up ending you a lot of money in planning and consultancy fees. As an example I am replacing an old summer house in favour of one that has a piched roof and is basically a log cabin. It looks nicer and should last longer, my neighbour who could throw the thing up without consent would just need to pay the 9K for it and build it. I have to pay for an Archietect £4500 to do a site plan, drawings, building report etc. In addition I have to pay a planning consultant £2500 in fees to do all the paperwork and meet the conservation guys and planning ****s. I then need to have a report done on a tree in my garden and a load of other stuff. So it very quickly gets real expensive and time consuming. The church I am just buying is a "national treasure" or some crap so we are not allowed to put plug points on the walls and all wiring and heating has to be run and suspended under a false floor. Its another Architect and planning consultant job!! happy days!!! same for extra car parking spaces etc. Another thing mate, any oak you need to replace is REAL expensive, I could not believe how much it cost when we were replacing our A frame upstairs we spent nearly 18K just on bits of wood. Another thing is working with oak on stuff like this can be quite expensive on the labour side as well as it is so hard.

Im worried I hate Hospitals
Just got back, I sat in the car for five minutes before I went in. The Dr was really nice, very pleasant and made good small talk. After an examination he has booked me in for some investagative proceedure as an out patient, he said its not pleasant but should only take an hour. I quit smoking a while back but have smoked a couple today, but at least the first part of this has been done. Have a bit of a break before I need to start dreading the next bit lol. No fit birds there at all, just wrinkly old things!

Im worried I hate Hospitals
Guys I went to the GP on Monday, had blood tests yesterday and got an appointment to see a consultant today on BUPA. I absolutely hate Hospitals and Doctors. I never go and see my Dr unless it is unavoidable!!!!. Ever since I was in my early 20s when I was in and out all the time with serious heart problems I always associate them with pain, suffering, and anxiety. I already feel sick and have the shakes and im not going for a few hours yet. Why do I feel like this, its BUPA apart from not having to wait for a year to see a specialist its in better surroundings. I should feel better about it but I dont!!!. When I broke my leg I went two weeks without treatment or seeing anyone for the same reasons. I never used to be like this but am so anxious hoping that the problem is nothing to be worried about. OMG OMG OMG OMG is it just me who has this?

exeedy twin plate clutch
I have a twin plate RPS carbon and when you put your foot down on the clutch it makes a "chinking" noise. When you remove your foot it is perfectly quiet. Mine has a pretty much stock feel to use.

new loom
Its not a simple job, some people can or have done it with the engine in. But even with the engine out it is a bummer. Everything is straightforward to a degree if you can get the bracket off from behind the dash. We had to de pin one of the connectors to get everything through without putting to much stress on the wires. http://www.project300tt.com/2010/03/15/fitting-the-new-efi-harness/

Rust repair
Doing it properly and I mean properly is expensive and time consuming. Realistically it falls into three options. 1. Grind and then fill and spray, the quickest and least expensive option that you might get a year or two out of before the filler starts to bubble or rust come through again. 2. Grind and patch weld, this is a far better option than above but it still leaves you with old and weak metal in there so it will fail but is a good fix. 3. Remove arches and replace them entirely of new metal with an arch repair kit, weld them on, fill and paint them. Will take a lot longer to do and be more expensive but it is unlikely they will fail in the next 10-15 years if done properly. Sills fall into points 2-3 as well unless a cowboy goes at them with a bit of filler. Custom exotics painted my car before I owned it. They just ground it out and heavily filled it all so the respray only lasted a few years before it needed doing again as one of the arches needed replacing. This is what a proper job looks like http://www.project300tt.com/2010/01/12/respray-progress/ and http://www.project300tt.com/2010/01/20/car-now-resprayed/

Emerald engine management on a Z32!
I am on the list and all paid up.... I am removing my all singing all dancing AEM unit in favour of one of these. I would rather have John fit and base map it, then the guys at Emerald map it like it is stolen!!!. I have always felt that getting anywhere with the AEM stuff is far harder in the UK than in the US as far less people specialise with AEM here. Fact is I took my car to an "AEM SPECIALIST" and it was doing 4MPG running in!!. I would prefer to use people on here that I know and trust with my car than randoms who think they are specialists. So my car will be going off to Jimmer to get the head gasket sorted, then John is going to meet him and sort the Emerald system out. Its less expensive than the AEM system as well so its good value for money in my opinion.

Why are some people so Anal!!!!
OMFG, my Landlord for my office block went bust. Cut a long story short I was six months in advance with my rent and have lost my deposit. The new company said that I would get my deposit back if I wanted to sign a new contarct for a further 12 months. I would not agree and they have taken it personally and got all silly on me. After some discussion we agreed on eight months then I get my deposit back. On the witnessed contract they wanted me to sign it stated that I would pay them a new deposit on signing WTF no way!!!. So I put a line through the clause in the agreement and signed it, little Hitler here comes stamping in throwing her arms around saying that I cant do that. She got very anal about it all saying I was in no way allowed to alter their agreements. I explained that it said I would have to pay another deposit and I was not going to loose another one. What a jobs worth I dont care what they say verbally I dont sign anything im not happy with... mugs game.

family crest of arms
Im a Baron, I have one.. But truth be told when I started making a few quid I bought a title and a tiny bit of land for a laugh. kinda cool having it on your credit cards etc though. Comes in handy when you travel or stay in hotels or go to fancy restaurants etc as you normally get a free upgrade. I was going to buy the title Lord but it sounded to corny with my surname, and there is someone who owns the national motor museum with the same title and surname and he was found to be a pedo in the 70s so no chance. My wife is called "Baroness" by her horsy friends and she hates it.
