  1. Mate, i feel like clarkson when he fixed fixed the unbalanced wheel on that old Porsche with a euro, i am up for anything now, and will be getting her back up on Friday and doing the whole thing again. I just pray that it sorts her out......
  2. Do you think there is any mileage in draining and removing sump again to clean the strainer again as said diirty fluid would have left contamination on the filter. Or just do a swap of the fluid? I know which is easier
  3. Well as some of you may have seen, i had a problem with my auto box not selecting gears recently. I followed some advice from you guys and swapped fluid, no difference, then took of sump and cleaned out strainer, and replaced the fluid again. Hey Presto she worked, drove a couple of miles last night no problem so i took hr into work today but i noticed that at low speeds, (ie 1st and 2nd gear) she is changing gear ok but there is a slightly high pitched whirring noise (also in P when you rev - same noise) This noise is not noticeable when in higher gears. When i say she is changing gears ok, when i start her up and stick it in D there is more of a noticeable jolt than before when she engages the gear and likewise when the box goes from 1st to 2nd there is more of a noticeable jolt too. I think i might have put too much fluid back in this time, as indicated by the dipstick. I was going to go through the whole process again, (ie take off sump and clean out strainer again) which i thought might help as maybe the fluid not drained out last time might be causing this, but does anybody have any ideas as to why it might be doing this? Thanks in advance
  4. Congratulations mate. I hope that they are both back home as soon as possible.
  5. I've been told that the Apexi are one of the best aftermarket filters for the Zed. In fact when i looked to upgrade, they were like gold dust and no-one had any in stock for ages.
  6. Yeah ok Ian, and i need to bring those ramps back as well. Probably wont be for a week or two though mate, as i'm pretty busy for the next couple of weeks/weekends. And, now she's back on the road i need to start saving up for petrol again!
  7. boys you don't know how happy i am - went for a little drive and was grinning like a cheshire cat.
  8. Right - well i managed to get her up, and drained the fluid again, took off the sump and got the strainer out - it was completely clogged. BUt no sign of metal shards or anything, just gunked up I got some brake cleaner and cleaned it all up. i stuck it all back together and chucked a load of dexron III in there. I have to say that i was a bit nervous to start her up, but she sounded sweet, and i gingerly put her into gear and...... HAPPY DAYS !!!!:dance::dance::clap: She ran fine, in all gears. Now guess what the next thing i had to do was??? Yep you guessed it - fill up with petrol. I am one happy boy, firstly because she is back on the road, but mostly because i managed to get her sorted myself, with some good advice from here and over the road. Thank you to those who gave me advice, it was well received, and once again these sites have come to my rescue, so i just want to say a massiveThanks to everyone.
  9. just a silly question - you haven't got the OD button depressed have you? that makes the gearbox change at much higher revs. OD button being on the side of the gearstick (Overdrive)
  10. 2 tickets to the theatre. :euro:
  11. The light gets brighter the lower you go so when it just comes on you still have a fair bit left in the tank.
  12. Welcome mate - good luck with the search
  13. Get out on the golf course mate - getting that handicapp down is a full time job!
  14. Good luck mate, and i agree with Daffy - I interview a lot of people for different posts, and being honest, upffront and being yourself goes a long way.
  15. Good advice in my opinion, break her in gently, allowing you some time to fix any niggling things like fluid levels, cleaning connectors etc. But that sounds like a lush roadtrip - Barcelona to Paris.... nice little Eurotrip. :euro:
  16. looking good mate - cant wait till we are both back on the road for a little road trip.
  17. well done mate - 2K in 1 year, not bad at all.
  18. Mate i dont know how much a decent pair of bulbs would cost you but its got to be £20-£30 for a pair. This might be the perfect opportunity to upgrade and get yourself a pair of HIDs. It was one of the cheapest and best upgrades that i have done to the zed, It don't half make a difference on those dark nights.
  19. Well done mate - i see you signing your life away in one of them.... only jokin mate. Looks like a great day I hope that you and the the new wifey have many happy years ahead of you.
  20. :duffer:Happy Birthday :duffer:
  21. i saw this in the cinema the first time round. Classic
  22. I got mine from ebay - just under £20 delivered i think.
  23. Holy s**t - how young is he? you been cradle snatching again Jane? :nono:
  24. Adrian flux are rubbish for most it seems. Try elephant.co.uk also - not too bad. But your right it does seem like a bit of a random generator with some companies, Flux told me that their price was definately the lowest and that as specialists - NO ONE could come close to the astronomical £700 odd quid they quoted. He even said "You'll be back"..... "Only to ram my considerably cheaper insurance documents up your arse mate!".... is what i should have said, especially considering that both Carol Nash and elephant were cheaper - ended up with Lynbrook £260 but alas i am getting old so i just said - thanks mate but i'll go elsewhere
  25. but if you win the lottery can i have a new car as well? pretty please?
