  1. Having had a some gearbox problems myself recently, I would suggest that you follow this advice - drain it - take off sump, clean out strainer and re-fill. You may have to do this a couple of times, but no real cost (transmission fluid @ about £15-20 for 5 litres) just a bit of time and effort and quite likely a dirty drive. Mine started working again, and i got a good few miles out of here till the box started making all manner of noises again, so a new box for me now. Unfortunately if your box is starting to give you grief then it is probably on the way out, bear in mind they can be 20 years old and might not have had any attention until now, but a quick fix might help and who knows how long it will last? Definately worth a try before you go down the box swap route.
  2. :duffer:Happy Birthday :duffer:
  3. that is pretty cool - how fast are they going by the time they leave the deck i wonder?
  4. Ahh - i see - just goes to show how much i know :1eye:
  5. Seriously mate - Give Andy a ring - I'm sure his breaker is the identical colour... it's gotta be a decent option to get a new rear quarter panel and exhaust..
  6. ?? doesn't sit well with me at all to be honest that everyone here wants to give a killer a medal... guy was obviously a nasty little yob, but stabbed to death?? I agree with Jazzy - give him a good hiding, but i just cannot see that taking a life should be so commended by educated people like yourselves. I appreciate the sentiment that we should have the rights to defend our homes and families etc, and i appreciate that it was an instinctive reaction and he phoned the police straight away... but a child now doesn't have a father, a mother without a son and the cycle of violence and hate in said community will continue.... very sad if you ask me.
  7. contentious issue with some, but well worth subscribing mate - best £20 i have spent on my zed journey.
  8. mate that just looks the nuts - going to look soooo good when finished.
  9. check your pm - might be the solution you need...
  10. least you got it back mate...
  11. Holy shit mate, that is not cool - oil on the road maybe? I am pleased to hear that Tess and the littlun are ok - you must be having opposing feeling running through you at the moment - relief that the family are ok but gutted about the car. I am just about to send you pm dude.
  12. you can't get more car for the money... you will struggle to find a car that defies its age like the zed.... you don't see many on the roads... and finally..... it is one damn sexy machine.
  13. to be honest, you will really need to get an after market induction kit and a nice exhaust to compliment and get the most out of the chip. Induction kit : up to £100 Exhaust : £250 upwards
  14. WooHoo... I always felt a bit like we were in the middle of everywhere. If you need a hand with organising anything Craig just let me know bud. 1: Pablito
  15. Agreed, but the plate obviously means something to Stu, so if the plate can be changed without too much fuss, and Stu ensures that he covers all costs and perhaps a bit extra to sweeten the deal, I would have to say that i would be looking at the lower end of what people have been saying (ie a couple of hundred quid) On the other hand; supply and demmand and all that if Yewcheck wants to make a bit on top, then he is entitled to do so as he did not make the original arrangement of giving back said plate. I am sure that something amicable can and will be sorted out between the 2 of them.
  16. :duffer:Happy Birthday :duffer:
  17. so how do you get it right then if you don't have torque wrench?
  18. How bad is it if you over tighten your wheel nuts? I don't have a torque wrench or anything, but i tighten them up pretty damn tight to be honest.

  20. Craig that is very kind of you and i will definitely take you up on it. I am hoping to take my car round to Andys first thing next saturday. I will of course be looking after anyone who wants to lend a hand so if anyone else is in a charitable mood and wants to help me get my car up and running, then you will be fed and watered, but i'm afraid to say that i cannot be held responsible for what Andy will do as a favour!! :w00t: Come and get your helping hands dirty guys... Christmas spirit and all that.
  21. I'm just about to sell my PS3 - got bored of waiting for this game.... scandalous really.
  22. That also sounds like a good idea, but i suggest doing it on a different day than the 18th Dec so it doesn't clash with the meet that IanL mentioned so that those of us who want to can go to both.
  23. Me too Gary... me too.
  24. After a bit of soul searching, and doing a few sums i have finally decided to bite the bullet and go for a manual conversion in my car. I know i wanted to keep it auto for a number of reasons, but having weighed up the pros and cons i have decided to take the plunge. A big thanks to Andy Isherwood for supplying the conversion kit at a very reasonable price and for offering to help me get it sorted. Also a big thanks to those of you who helped me with the old box issues. Although in the end she was knackered, It gave me a massive sense of acheivement to get her running again, even if it was only for a week. Also an apology to those who i have been speaking to about taking their auto boxes, i will now be going this route, so thanks for your help but no auto box needed thanks. I will keep you all posted and will probebly stick up some photos as we go along. Hopefully she will be back on the road sooner rather than later.
